Last night Derek and I agreed that if I let him slept in, then he would take me to a fun new running spot in the morning. Derek really wanted to sleep in and I can always be bribed with a new running spot, so it was a win-win compromise for both of us.
Derek went to bed last night proclaiming how he ‘could not wait to sleep in in the morning‘ and how he was going to enjoy ‘not waking up at the crack of dawn.’ I let him have his moment and just smiled and nodded.
Turns out I was the one who got the last laugh this morning. Derek was wide awake and watching television when I woke up naturally at 7:30am this morning. He had been up for an hour and couldn’t go back to sleep. So much for sleeping in. That’ll teach him to talk smack.
Whether we technically slept in or not, Derek still owes me a cool running spot! We’re heading to a Tampa trail and I can’t wait to check it out.
Since we are running I didn’t want any dairy in my breakfast, so I kept it simple with a bagel and pear.

I coated one half of my whole wheat bagel with almond butter and chocolate chips and the other with strawberry jelly.

The pear I had one the side was not even close to ripe, but after a couple of wedges I started to enjoy the crunchiness of each bite.

Now I’m fueled up and ready to run!
It’s gorgeous outside today! I see the beach in my near future as well.
Have a great Saturday everyone!

Haha, aww, poor Derek. I know what it’s like to want to sleep in but have it not be in my nature
Hahah poor Derek! That’s the treament he gets after cooking you a nice meal…:p!
Have a great day!
I hope you get your good running spot
Sounds like a beautiful day, luck you to live in FL!!!!
Ahah! That happens to me all the time. Poor Derek!
I was wondering why you were avoiding dairy before a run?
I am a new runner and try to pick up as many good tips as possible…
I love your blog, thanks for the interesting recipes and your honest angle on life.
Mmm… Pb& chocolate- what a great way to start the day!
Mmm bagels with nut butter and jelly are such a good morning meal! Enjoy the day. The running trail sounds like fun!
so jealous! it’s a very rainy, miserable day in pa!
have a great time on your run!
I can out sleep anyone on the planet. I have to set my alarm for 10 AM
Have a fun run!!
Hope you have a great run Meghann!
Same thing happened to me this morning. I fancied a lie in and had nowhere to be but still woke up naturally at 6,45!!
I wanted to sleep in soooo bad! And I was up at 7:45… after laying awake for an hour at 4 am. What I wouldn’t give to have the ability to sleep until at least 10 again!!!
I try to sleep in every single weekend, but I am wide awake by 7:00!
So jealous of your florida beach weather! I can never sleep in either..
Enjoy your run on the new course! I too consider 7:30 sleeping in. Does that mean we’re suppose to catch the worm?
Hope you guys have a great run!
“Sleeping in” for me involves waking up after 5 a.m…. so 7:30 is pure luxury! Enjoy your day!
Haha – that made me giggle. The Boy normally outsleeps me, but this morning we both slept in and woke up to the cats asking to come in the bedroom! It was nice for us to get the extra sleep – much needed. I hope that your new trail is awesome!
Hope your goes well!
breaky looks great! and i love the crunchiness of pears when they are not soo ripe!
Jenna
Happens to me every weekend! I say “oh I can’t WAIT to sleep in!” and then I’m up by 6:45, my normal wakeup time. It’s infuriating!
haha, poor Derek.
Hope you will take pics of the new running spot!!
I’ve got a major jealously case going on right now of your beach plans. Have fun!!
Too funny! Enjoy your new running spot, what a fun way to spend a Sat afternoon!
Poor Derek! I hate when you are totally looking forward to sleeping in and then you’re the first one awake before the sun even rises. Boo!!! Hope you guys had a great run today at your new running spot!
SO jealous of your weather…enjoy the run!
Haha! That’s too funny about Derek not sleeping in after saying all of that.
have fun on your run!
Your breakfast looks really delicious, actually, now I’m craving a bagel
xoxox

what a delicious looking breakfast! enjoy your run
Hey Meghann!
I was also wondering why you avoid dairy before a run? Do you avoid it if you’re doing a strength training workout too, or just for runs? Just curious!
I wish it were sunny and warm here, but at least it isn’t snowing
I will only eat pears that are crunchy and under ripe!
I could sleep until afternoon if only I was allowed. Waking up at weekends is hard and I usually let myself sleep until 10
Too funny! Odd how our ideas of sleeping in change with time and habits.
Sorry but I can’t help but laugh. I hope you enjoyed your new running spot.
hope you enjoyed your fun run today!
Breakfast looks simple and yummy!!! Hope the new running spot was sooo much fun!
