Too Good To Stay Inside

by Meghann on March 13, 2010

Now don’t be jealous….. but, I think today’s weather in Tampa was what one might call the epitome of perfection.

IMG_0378.JPG

A high of 73, blue skies as far as the eye could see, and a big beautiful sun – I was NOT staying inside on a day like today! ;)

I am happy to report the new trail run Derek had promised to take me to this morning was worth ‘sleeping in’ for. :)

IMG_0355.JPG

The trail was just outside of Tampa and stretches to a large 28 mile loop into the wilderness, but we just ran 4.

I loved how cute the map was! :)

This was Derek’s first trail run. I think he liked it. ;)

You’ll never guess where we headed next!

How could we not take advantage of this perfect beach weather?

IMG_0376.JPG

This is why I live in Florida!

IMG_0379.JPG

On the way to the beach we stopped at Publix to pick up some subs and fresh fruit to enjoy by the water.

IMG_0368.JPG

I got the 6 in veggie sub on multrigrain bread with provolone cheese, spicy mustard, and all the trimmings.

Derek and I split a bowl of apple slices, grapes, and strawberries.

After I finished lunch, I passed out the heck out. Derek claims he always knows I’m asleep when my mouth is hanging open and he said my mouth was hanging open for a good hour on that beach today. ;)

I was feeling a little snacky when I returned to the land of the living and dug into the Goldfish we brought with us.

IMG_0367.JPG IMG_0380.JPG

I started combining the handfuls of pretzels and chocolate grahams. Such a tasty combination!

IMG_0381.JPG

For dinner Derek took my to one of his favorite Greek restaurants in Tarpon Springs for some authentic Greek food and treats.

IMG_0383.JPG

We did sit down to eat until after 8:00 and by that point I was ready to eat my arm off. As soon as the server dropped the bread basket down, I immediately grabbed a piece and gobbled it up.

IMG_0384.JPG

We started with a Greek Salad that had all the traditional toppings, but also included potato salad, beets, and chickpeas.

IMG_0385.JPG

The salad was great! I loved all the extras, especially the potato salad!

Derek was raving the about the Greek Chow Mein the restaurant is famous for, but I could not get on board with it. I did steal a bite of Derek’s and though I thought it was good, I was glad I had went with my gut instinct and not ordered it.

IMG_0390.JPG

Instead I ordered the chicken platter which came with more greek salad, rice pilaf, pitas, and seasoned chicken with tomato sauce.

IMG_0388.JPG

It was good! I ate about half and gave the rest to Derek in a doggie bag so he could enjoy it for lunch at work on Monday.

I didn’t want to fill up at dinner because Derek had promised me Greek pastries for after we paid our bill!

IMG_0391.JPG

I wanted it all, but managed to walk away from the counter with a piece of chocolate baklava.

IMG_0401.JPG

Derek got a chocolate kok (which we both felt embarrassed to order because we weren’t quite sure how to pronounce kok)

IMG_0400.JPG

I had a bite and it was good, but not as good as my baklava. ;)

It’s couch cuddling time!

Don’t forget to set your clocks one hour ahead tonight!

Good Night!

Talking Smack

by Meghann on March 13, 2010

Last night Derek and I agreed that if I let him slept in, then he would take me to a fun new running spot in the morning. Derek really wanted to sleep in and I can always be bribed with a new running spot, so it was a win-win compromise for both of us.

Derek went to bed last night proclaiming how he ‘could not wait to sleep in in the morning‘ and how he was going to enjoy ‘not waking up at the crack of dawn.’ I let him have his moment and just smiled and nodded.

Turns out I was the one who got the last laugh this morning. Derek was wide awake and watching television when I woke up naturally at 7:30am this morning. He had been up for an hour and couldn’t go back to sleep. So much for sleeping in. That’ll teach him to talk smack. ;)

Whether we technically slept in or not, Derek still owes me a cool running spot! We’re heading to a Tampa trail and I can’t wait to check it out. :)

Since we are running I didn’t want any dairy in my breakfast, so I kept it simple with a bagel and pear.

IMG_1648.JPG

I coated one half of my whole wheat bagel with almond butter and chocolate chips and the other with strawberry jelly.

IMG_1651.JPG

The pear I had one the side was not even close to ripe, but after a couple of wedges I started to enjoy the crunchiness of each bite.

IMG_1645.JPG

Now I’m fueled up and ready to run!

It’s gorgeous outside today! I see the beach in my near future as well. ;)

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Derek in the Kitchen

March 13, 2010

There is nothing sexier than walking in the door after a 3 hour car ride (that was suppose to be less than 2 hours) and find your man preparing one tantalizing meal. SEXY! The last three hours of work flew by this afternoon. Unfortunately the 3 hour car ride that followed did not. The mix more ยป
