Morning Toast

by Meghann on February 26, 2010

Good Morning!

Its another cold one here, but at least the skies are blue and the sun is shining brightly!

I took it easy this  morning with a simple 20 minute session of Yoga for Runners on yogadownload.com just to loosen my legs up a bit. This time tomorrow I will be in the middle of my first race for the Michelob Challenge. Yikes!

After yoga I made an easy breakfast of toast.

I topped my toast with almond butter, pumpkin butter, strawberries, and flax seeds.

Its amazing how filling nut butter on toast is. Especially when you tend to be heavy handed with the nut butter like I am. 😉

Winner! Winner!

We broke a new record this morning on graduatemeghann.com. As of right now 946 of you entered to win the “Grains of Goodness” prize pack sponsored by General Mills. Whoa!

Of course I think part of it had to do with winning this nifty Fresh & Fit Breakfast Chiller more than winning the cereal.

If you are not the lucky winner you can find your own Breakfast Chiller at your local or you can order one directly from the Fresh & Fit website by clicking here. They have loads of cool all-in-one tupperware solutions on their site and they offer free shipping for orders of $30 or more!

But, let’s get back to the lucky winner!

And the random winner is…

Carolyn

I don’t think I can sleep until I have one of these containers! Amazing!

My favourite cereal is Cheerios – original, Honey Nut, apple cinnamon, multigrain, every kind except frosted. I don’t buy them too often though, because I inevitably end up eating a whole box within a couple days! :S

CONGRATS CAROLYN!!!

Send me an e-mail at graduatemeghann@gmail.com and I will make sure the prize pack is shipped to you pronto!

1 megan February 26, 2010 at 9:25 am

wow, people must have really wanted that breakfast chiller! 🙂 I actually think I might order one. It would be perfect for packing breakfast/lunch for a car trip where you don’t have access to a refrigerator or want to bring a cooler. It doesn’t make sense for work though, since I can just put my milk/fruit in the refrigerator. but it is cute 🙂

2 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) February 26, 2010 at 9:32 am

I could have totally made that toast for bfast today!! I’ve got all the ingredients. I was craving some nut butter and toast to. Maybe I’ll have some for dessert!

3 Fit Chick in the City February 26, 2010 at 9:38 am

I love Carolyn’s response! Good luck with all your upcoming running! Excited to read all about it.

4 june February 26, 2010 at 9:41 am

I had a feeling I wasnt going to win, so I googled Fit and Fresh and ordered one, PLUS a couple of other things!!

5 foodfitnessandfreya February 26, 2010 at 9:45 am

I am so jealous of Carolyn who won…I so wanted to win!!!
Breakfast looks deeelicious as usual! Gosh you must be so excited about that race 😀 enjoy your last day before it!

6 Jessica February 26, 2010 at 9:52 am

I have never tried fruit on toast. I can’t decide if I’m going to…even though I really want to. How neat.

7 secasey February 26, 2010 at 9:53 am

Almond butter and strawberries is such a great combo! I love it on cinnamon raisin bagels 🙂 Good luck on all of your races this weekend! I think you’re crazy for doing all three… but in a good way! I totally admire your dedication!

8 amanda @ fake ginger February 26, 2010 at 10:04 am

Almond butter on toast is my favorite! I have it at least once a day.

9 runningwithsass February 26, 2010 at 10:09 am

the toast looks great, I love strawberries!

10 Emily February 26, 2010 at 10:10 am

Wow, that is a crazy amount of people to have entered! Love the toast, I never have thought about putting fresh fruit on my toast.

11 theprocessofhealing February 26, 2010 at 10:16 am

Congrats to the winner! Lucky.

The toast looks awesome!!! (How many times I ever said that TOAST looks awesome..not many haha)

12 Anna February 26, 2010 at 10:21 am

Congrats to the winner! I LOVE toast and nut butter for breakfast…I usually top mine with banans, but I’ll have to give strawberries a whirl!

13 The Brunette February 26, 2010 at 10:23 am

That toast looks so good, in such a simple way. I’ll have to try the flax on toast thing soon.

14 Ashley February 26, 2010 at 10:28 am

Your breakfast looks so pretty! I love how the simplest meal can stand out with the right presentation.

I poked around on the Fresh & Fit site and I think that the Healthy Food Snacker is even cooler than the breakfast chiller–I might have to order one! I used to have the Lunch on the Go container but it was kind of bulky and I couldn’t keep track of all the little containers that went in it.

15 Katie @ Health for the Whole Self February 26, 2010 at 10:31 am

I love how you manage to make a simple breakfast look absolutely DIVINE!!!

16 RhodeyGirlTests February 26, 2010 at 10:37 am

Do you know what number plastic the fit & fresh container has? You can find it in the middle of the triangle on the bottom usually. I just don’t want to buy one only to find out it is one of the types I won’t use.

17 Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) February 26, 2010 at 10:51 am

Nut butter on toast is my favorite pre-run breakfast. I need to sprinkle some flax on there next time!

18 christina cadden February 26, 2010 at 10:53 am

Your toast looks great!

19 Megan February 26, 2010 at 10:57 am

Good luck with your race! I know you will rock it!

20 Matt February 26, 2010 at 11:07 am

Haha I totally just ordered one of those.

Good luck this weekend!

21 kristilyn February 26, 2010 at 11:17 am

Yum! Now I wish I had toast for breakfast. 🙂 I’ve never put flax on toast before … doesn’t it taste gritty?

Of course I’ve never had strawberries on toast before either – I guess I should try it!

Toast and almond butter is so filling! It usually my staple before working out. It gives me enough energy but it doesn’t feel like I have a stone in my stomach!

30 adrienmelaine February 26, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Those containers are pretty awesome- I have a girlfriend who has one, but somehow ends up taking her milk in a jar to class with her cereal in a bag then mixing it up in the morning.. not going to lie- we live on hippy island in the pacific north west. we do that here

31 Jenny February 26, 2010 at 12:43 pm

As a nut butter…well, nutter, I, too am pretty liberal with the stuff. Not as bad as with cream cheese, but I digress. Your breakfast looks delicious, and again, I must lament the complete absence of decent strawberries with a five mile radius of my apartment in Boston. Have we fallen into a strawberry black hole??

32 megzzwinsatlife February 26, 2010 at 12:53 pm

your breakfast looks delish girl!!!

wohoooo for giveaways!!

33 Retta @ RunRettaRun February 26, 2010 at 1:14 pm

34 Julie February 26, 2010 at 1:19 pm

35 NYCRunnerGirl February 26, 2010 at 2:33 pm

I am so jealous that I didn’t win that container! Oh well, I may just have to go buy one now 😉

Good luck tomorrow, can’t wait to read the recaps!

36 Crystal February 26, 2010 at 3:43 pm

I never thought of putting fruit on toast! I suppose it would do the same job as jam but without all that added sugar? Looks great!
Enjoy your trip!
