It's Party Time

by Meghann on February 25, 2010

I’ve been so busy at work lately that I had almost completely forgot our company’s quarterly meeting was this afternoon. How could I forget such an exciting event?

Each quarter we have a company wide meeting where the whole office comes together to discuss current and future initiatives. Its basically an hour of “Go, Team, Go!” ๐Ÿ™‚

But, the best part happens after the meeting, when its time to party.

This quarter was Mardi Gras themed.

Dig in everyone!

IMG_0377.JPG

Everyone say “Hi Mike!”

IMG_0379.JPG

He wanted to be on the blog. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The best part was the cake!

IMG_0367.JPG

You see that?

IMG_0367_2.JPG

That’s me!

I have this rule where if a cake has my name on it, then I have to have a piece.

IMG_0378.JPG

It was good cake too. White cake from Publix with strawberry filling. Delicious!

It was nice to mingle with my co-workers for a bit, but I had to cut out of the party early so that I could finish up some work at my desk. I ended up leaving the office pretty late and by the time I got home I was ready for a quick, filling meal.

I’ve had this idea in my head for a BBQ Stir Fry for the last couple days and was excited to finally have the chance to test it out tonight.

IMG_0384.JPG

The inspiration came from the BBQ Tempeh I picked up from Whole Foods on Sunday.

IMG_0390.JPG

I started with a sweet potato that I chopped into small cubes and sauteed on the stove top with a little olive oil and onions. Once the sweet potato was soft I added broccoli, mushrooms, apple, tempeh, spinach, and bbq sauce.

IMG_0387.JPG

When everything was done I topped the stir fry veggies with some whole wheat cous cous and blue cheese.

IMG_0385.JPG

Once again, I am a genius! All the flavors melted together perfectly. This is a great quick meal I am sure you will see again and again on here. ๐Ÿ™‚

I ended the evening with some strawberries and dark chocolate cover edamame.

For those of you who were inquiring where you could purchase your own Fit & Fresh Breakfast Chiller, you can do so directly from their site by clicking here. I think they are selling for $10? Fit & Fresh have A LOT of other great containers on their site! Including the Deluxe Lunch Chiller which I am very close to purchasing myself!

I’m off to pack for my crazy racing weekend!

LOL – I love your rule about eating a piece of cake if your name is on it. I think I may have to adopt this rule as my own. ๐Ÿ˜‰

9 Matt February 25, 2010 at 10:40 pm

I think I will be making that dinner very soon ๐Ÿ˜‰

So jealous of all the Publix stuff on that table. I wish they’d build them in the midwest!!

Good luck at your crazy weekend- is there a site where we can follow you?

Mmmm…Publix has the best baked goods of any grocery store! (One of the things I miss about Florida is definitely Publix). And I think the name on the cake code is definitely one that should never be broken ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now THAT’S what I wanted my office birthday celebration to look like today! I was so disappointed to see lame-o scones from a can (probably Pillsbury) instead of delicious birthday cake. Jealous!!

16 Fallon February 26, 2010 at 3:59 am

It is midnight for me and I’m buying all kinds of tupperwares!!! I’m so glad you linked to the site. The prices aren’t bad at all. I can’t wait to get mine now.

24 Jessie February 26, 2010 at 9:53 am

How fun that your office does an office party! Most of the people in my office can’t stand one another so we don’t do anything fun like that.

25 NYCRunnerGirl February 26, 2010 at 9:59 am

Hi, Mike! That cake is beautiful!

Your dish looks really good. I love just throwing a bunch of ingredients together like that and ending up with something genius!

26 christina cadden February 26, 2010 at 10:57 am

Looks like a really good dinner and dessert!

27 Liz February 26, 2010 at 11:07 am

Meghann, I think you work for the most fun company… ever. You are so lucky!

28 Allison W. February 26, 2010 at 11:12 am

Hi Meghann, what kind of barbecue sauce do you use? I’m looking for one without tons of sugar, but that still tastes good! What would you recommend?

29 Meghann February 26, 2010 at 11:36 am

I LOVE Annie’s BBQ Sauce. I’m not sure how heavy on the sugar it is, but it tastes amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

30 kristilyn February 26, 2010 at 11:18 am

What a fun party. I can’t beleive that’s the office party. And I love your rule about cake. Might keep me from eating it more.

That cake is gorgeous! I love all the pretty colors. Yes, most of them aren’t natural, but who cares? It’s Mardi Gras. I’m usually not a fan of supermarket cake, but that one is quite lovely. Strawberries sound nice too.

Thanks for introducing the special breakfast bowl. I’m sorry I didn’t win it ๐Ÿ™ but I just might purchase one!

36 Andrea of Care to Eat February 26, 2010 at 5:24 pm

I have a rule too – if there’s free cake, I’m gonna eat it! ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck on your races this weekend!!!!
