Still No Bag

by Meghann on February 13, 2010

Turns out my bag is still having a blast in Cincinnati. ๐Ÿ™

The flight my bag was suppose to take to Tampa last night was canceled and the back up flight it was rescheduled for this morning had the same fate. I’ve been told my bag should make a flight this afternoon, but who knows?

The bagless situation wouldn’t be so bad if I were back home in Orlando with full access to my closet, but I’m not. I’m in Tampa with a pair of jeans, a Carlo’s Bakery t-shirt, and plans for a fancy dinner and Wicked tonight. ๐Ÿ™

Looks like a little shopping may be in order this morning. I wonder if I can find a store with a very relaxed return policy to help me out?

I also miss my running shoes. Its kind of hard to train for a marathon without them. ๐Ÿ™

Alright, enough complaining. I will get my bag back eventually. I will have a great time tonight. I will run 18 miles tomorrow come hell or high water. And I will be back in my own apartment, with my own bed, and Maddie by my side.

Last night I prepped overnight oats for Derek and I.

I combined 1/2 cup of oats, milk, plain yogurt, and peanut butter in two separate bowls and left it in the fridge overnight. This morning I topped my bowl with a generous serving of fruit.

Something about the oats were off. It was missing cinnamon and the peanut butter was not as great as almond butter in my oats. It was still a refreshing change to not eat breakfast out for the first time in a week. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alright, time to put yesterday’s clothes on again and get my lazy butt off the couch. Cross your fingers my bag finds its way back to me soon!

Hope your bag arrives safe and sound ASAP!

Have fun at Wicked, we are going to see it when it comes here in March and I can’t wait!

It definitely sounds like some shopping is in order! I hope your bag (especially your running shoes! I’m lost without mine!) gets back to you very soon! This weather sure threw the airlines through a major loop

Oh poor you re your bag! At least they know it’s missing and it hasn’t PROPERLY vanished…:s
I skipped the cinnamon in my oats today and really tasted the difference, in a bad way – amazing how much it adds!
Have fun tonight and omgosh 18miles… eek, that’ll be me in a few months!!

I’m so sorry about your bag… that’s the worst! Our bags got to Jamaica almost a week before we did…they were all tan and relaxed when we got them ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a blast at Wicked! It’s the most amazing show!

Oh no! I hope your bag arrives soon! Shopping always perks me up a little bit!
I’m in desperate need of new running shoes. That’s my mission for today!

good luck! my brother lives & goes to school in seattle, and it seems like every time he comes home (to virginia) for a visit his bags get lost. i’m sure it’s very frustrating to not have the comforts of your belongings around you!

9 islandgirleats February 13, 2010 at 12:49 pm

That sucks about your bags. Travelling is so not glamorous!

Does Derek have anything you can borrow? You can rock that ‘boyfriend’ look today!!!!

10 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) February 13, 2010 at 12:55 pm

The best excuse to go shopping, huh!?!? Have a blasty with Derek!!! Hope your bag finds it’s way home!

11 Jamie February 13, 2010 at 12:56 pm

ughhh frustrating… and agreed – no bowl of oatmeal (over night or hot) tastes right without cinnamon!

12 Anna February 13, 2010 at 1:02 pm

Hope your bag gets there soon…I HATE losing luggage ๐Ÿ™

13 Heather (Heather's Dish) February 13, 2010 at 1:05 pm

That sucksss about the bag, but don’t try to stress yourself out about it too much! It’s out of your hands. Wicked is GREAT, I hope you guys have a fantastic time!

I am so sorry about your bag!
your fruit looks so good!

19 niki February 13, 2010 at 2:11 pm

Meghann- You might be able to explain your situation to the airline and they might be able to reimburse you for what you spend on clothes today. Just explain that you were not going home and had to go and spend however much you end up spending on clothes. I know they have done this for some people I have known before!

I’m sorry about your bag! That is the WORST:

Okay, the following comment is meant to be taken with love:

You wrote, “Last night I prepped overnight oats for Derek and I.”

Should be:
“Last night I prepped overnight oats for Derek and *ME*.”

Grammar lesson of the day ๐Ÿ™‚
Have a good one!

I’ve lost luggage before too, and I almost cried cause I thought I’d never see it again!! But I got it back (thankfully) Lol!

22 Heather February 13, 2010 at 2:52 pm

What a bummer about the bag!! Always nice to have an excuse to shop though ๐Ÿ™‚ I saw wicked in Baltimore- absolutely fantastic!!!! Have fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

23 Jo February 13, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Quick question Meghann,
What type of yogurt do you use for your overnight oats? Hoping to try them this week.

Really annoying about your bag – good excuse for shopping though I guess ๐Ÿ™‚

24 Kyra February 13, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Go to Nordstrom in International Plaza in Tampa, they have an awesome return policy! Enjoy the show/dinner and I hope you get your bag soon!

25 Gracie February 13, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Bummer about your baggage, ugh :/ I feel like everyone and their mom has been getting their luggage lost lately. It seems like the airlines are seriously going downhill…

I’m going to Mexico on the 28th for a week, and I’m seriously considering only bringing carry-on. I’ve done it before, with the help of multiple vacuum-pack bags ๐Ÿ™‚

Just buy something you can get a lot of use out of– a LBD or blank pants are always good investments!

27 mayapamela February 13, 2010 at 8:41 pm

Uhh I here you on breakfasts! Isn’t it a pain to pay 5 dollars for a simple bowl of fruit? I love eating out, but at the end of the day, I like my quirky breakfast tastes, like protein powder chocolate sauce for waffles, or yogurt soaked overnight oats. Hope your bag comes soon!

I LOVE Wicked. I saw it once in New York when my Dad and I were lucky enough to get rush tickets and once when it toured in California. I am glad you liked it. I read the book after seeing the musical, and while I loved the book, I am pretty sure I liked the musical better.

Dinner looked fantastic, if I am ever in Orlando I am definitely going there.
