Pizza is my friend

by Meghann on January 18, 2010

Pizza, Pizza!

IMG_6726.JPG

I was having a serious pizza craving this morning! And not just any pizza, I wanted made from scratch, homemade, delicious pizza!

So I got to work preparing Jenna’s Best Pizza Dough recipe before breakfast. I let the dough rise on the counter while I was at work and by the time I got home I had homemade pizza dough ready to go.

IMG_6696.JPG

I split the dough in half, put one in the freezer, and rolled the other into a large thin crust.

Topped with a generous slather of sauce

Lentils for a little protein

Zucchini, Mushrooms and Basil

Jalapenos & Banana Peppers

Last, but not least, a little cheese

Pizza perfection

IMG_6718.JPG

Ok, so it may not be the pretties pizza ever, but TRUST ME it was tasty!

For dinner I served myself two slices pizza

With a side of massaged kale salad.

Dessert consisted of three Almond Butter Cookies (Love these!)

Last night I fell asleep right when the Golden Globes were starting, so I am catching up on the award show right now. I love watching all the stars dress up.

So far my pick for best dress as to be Christina Hindricks from Mad Men.

Can you say Va-Va-Voom? I thought she looked hot!

I’m sad to say my pick for worst dressed is Fergie

golden_globes_01_wenn2714208.jpg (source)

I’m not sure if it was the dress, bad hair, or orange tan, but the whole look was just off.

Did you watch the awards? Who were your picks for best and worst dressed?

1 Evan Thomas January 18, 2010 at 9:03 pm

I watched the awards. No comment on the dresses because I’d be an awful authority there, but Ricky Gervaise was really good in my opinion. I think Hugh Jackman at the Oscars was way funnier but they can’t all be that hilarious

2 Dori January 18, 2010 at 9:04 pm

The pizza looks great! I have to make myself a pizza again, used to do it a lot but haven’t bought the ingredients lately.

3 Lyss January 18, 2010 at 9:05 pm

SOOO funny. i thought the exact opposite! i thought that orange dress was SOOO unflattering. homegirls boobs are URRYwhere… they need to be contained. and the color didn’t mess well with her lipstick/hair/skin. gorgeous girl, but just didn’t dig the dress. best dressed 1000000% had to be jennifer aniston. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/01/18/article-1244083-07E6622F000005DC-452_306x608.jpg – FOXXXXXXXXX.

I want that pizza to be my friend too.

I never even notice the gowns on award shows. Sometimes I think I missed out on the girly gene. Okay, a lot of the time, I think that.

5 Molly January 18, 2010 at 9:11 pm

yum! Looks sooo good!
I love Goldie Hawns dress last night (the white one).

Have a good Monday!

That pizza crust is such a great go-to recipe!

I thought Christina Hendricks looked pretty…but John Hamm looked better!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Love that beard, Don Draper!

My worst dress vote: Tina Fey!!! Sad, because I LOVE her ๐Ÿ™

7 Christy January 18, 2010 at 9:13 pm

I think the pizza looks great! ๐Ÿ™‚ and yea, Fergie’s dress wasn’t the best — it was too plain & simple.

8 eaternotarunner January 18, 2010 at 9:17 pm

That pizza looks SO good!

9 caronae January 18, 2010 at 9:22 pm

I love pretty awards show dresses. And homemeade pizza. I like Fergie’s dress, but the hair and the tan are off!

10 Eve (Nutrition by Eve) January 18, 2010 at 9:23 pm

The pizza looks delicious! I have yet to try making my own dough – it’s hard for me to when I can buy it for so little money at trader joes or whole foods!

I usually love watching the awards but had a dinner last night that went until late and I went straight to bed. I love seeing the recaps the next day – I really thought Drew Barrymore looked gorgeous. I agree with Lyss, I think Christina’s chest was way too big for the dress!

11 Jenna January 18, 2010 at 9:30 pm

Love home made pizza!
Omg I liked fergies purple dress!
Jenna

12 Marisa (Loser for Life) January 18, 2010 at 9:30 pm

Your pizza looks fantastic!

Oh my, I’m scared to even look at the recipe for almond butter cookies! I don’t think I could eat just one… ๐Ÿ™‚

13 Erin January 18, 2010 at 9:33 pm

I love homemade pizza — just got some more dough from Trader Joe’s because I haven’t quite worked up the energy to make my own dough yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I watched the Globes last night, mostly for the fashion, and it’s always fun. I loooove Mad Men and was also in love with Sandra Bullock’s purple gown.

14 Jamie January 18, 2010 at 9:33 pm

I think Fergie’s chest is what is the worst part of the dress – can you put those away please? But I thought Penelope Cruz looked the best because her dress highlighted her incredible curves! I also noticed that the stars were either in pale shades or black – what happened to the bright colors I love seeing?

15 theprocessofhealing January 18, 2010 at 9:38 pm

Your pizza sounds yummy!!!!

And I liked how Sandra Bullock was dressed… she is classy!

16 Jenny Palacios January 18, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I loved Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Emily Blunt, Maggie Gyllenhall, Felicity Huffman was Gorgeous, and I actually thought this was one of Fergie’s better looks

Worst Dressed: Tina Fey was a bit off, Penelope Cruz (she could have done better), Jennifer Aniston (it wasnt a bad dress but SOOO boring)

17 Kate January 18, 2010 at 9:40 pm

Your pizza looks sooo yummy! I really have been craving a veg pizza lately (I put onion, celery, carrot, green olives, mozzarella and tons of sauce on mine) so yours gave me inspiration for a new creation!

Adore that dress on CH of Mad Men…it complements her coloring to a tee!

18 verbalriot January 18, 2010 at 9:54 pm

It looks like Fergies boobs are squeezed so tight by that dress! I didn’t like it either.

19 feetinmotion January 18, 2010 at 10:00 pm

That pizza looks absolutely delicious!!!

20 Bridget January 18, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Mmm that pizza looks amazing!! I would of never thought to put lentils on there, but such a great idea! Man I haven’t made my own dough in a looong time. No didn’t get around to watching the awards ๐Ÿ™

21 hemp jogger January 18, 2010 at 10:13 pm

best: olivia wilde knocked my socks off! and i loved zoe saldana, even though most hated the dress. idk, the color was stunning.

worst: sadly, my love, tina fey. and patricia arquette, but she’s always a fail.

22 Heather January 18, 2010 at 10:16 pm

I love the idea to put lentils on pizza – brilliant!

Your pizza looks amazing – I love homemade pizza.

23 Mara @ What's For Dinner? January 18, 2010 at 10:19 pm

I totally agree about fergie… i miss the blonde hair and ridiculous outfits! Your pizza looks stellar, and I’m loving the lentil idea! Were they cooked first?

24 Meghann January 18, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Yes, they were cooked first ๐Ÿ™‚

25 Matt January 18, 2010 at 10:23 pm

Lentils on a pizza? Never heard of that one! How was it?

26 Meghann January 18, 2010 at 10:27 pm

Honestly I couldn’t taste them. They were hidden under all the other yummy toppings. I forgot they were even there until I looked at my photos. ๐Ÿ™‚

27 Danielle January 18, 2010 at 11:21 pm

Your pizza totally puts mine to shame! More veggies for me next time and I love how you added lentils.

Have a great day tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

28 Nicole January 18, 2010 at 11:45 pm

Your pizza looked awesome. Did you make your own tomato sauce or is that a pre-made one?

My best-dressed was Emily Blunt. I loved the way her dress moved. My least favorites were Kate Hudson (the chest part looked like a shelf), Tina Fey (I loved that she didn’t wear black, but I thought it made her legs look too short), and anyone in colored satin (Lauren Graham, Jane Lynch). Those looked like prom dresses.

29 Meghann January 19, 2010 at 9:30 am

It was store bought. I think it was a jar of bertoli?

30 Karla January 18, 2010 at 11:54 pm

I thought Fergie looked all wrong for some reason! The dress was too sweet looking for her.

I loved Christina Hindricks’ dress too!

31 Deva (Voracious Vorilee) January 18, 2010 at 11:59 pm

I was at a friend’s birthday celebration, and ended up not watching the awards, but had a blast! Your pizza is amazingly yummy looking!!

32 Kara January 19, 2010 at 12:01 am

Too funny. I also had a random craving for pizza and pulled out Jenna’s recipe tonight. Yum! ๐Ÿ™‚

33 meg c. January 19, 2010 at 12:07 am

omg christina hendricks’s boobs were OUT OF CONTROL. but i loved it. she’s so awesome on mad men.

nice pizza. love the veggies

34 Sonja @ ActiveFoodie January 19, 2010 at 12:31 am

What an interesting pizza combination! I love homemade pizza, and I love jalapenos and banana peppers…I think I should give this a try! And I LOVE mad men, I just love Christina Hindricks’ character on the show!

35 Andrea January 19, 2010 at 12:46 am

I agree with Fergie although I have never found her or her outifts attractive. I thought Sandra Bullock and cute, prego Amy Adams looked great!

36 Courtney January 19, 2010 at 1:15 am

DAYUM! That PIZZA! Fergie isn’t really ever … very … attractive. =/

37 Marissa January 19, 2010 at 1:23 am

I love Christina’s dress!

38 Fallon January 19, 2010 at 2:08 am

Pizza looks real good!

39 Angela January 19, 2010 at 2:15 am

I made pizza for dinner to! I love Christina Hindricks she always looks great!

40 Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen January 19, 2010 at 2:33 am

i loved halle berry’s gown…i’m a huge fan of backless dresses! fergie’s was not my favorite…it looked like something you’d see a high schooler wear to prom in the late 90’s.

love the pizza! ๐Ÿ™‚

41 Run Sarah January 19, 2010 at 2:41 am

That pizza looks SO mouthwatering….yum! I love adding banana peppers for an extra spice.

42 Mariela January 19, 2010 at 2:57 am

I just stumbled on to your page & I love it! Pizza looks delish & I too have been craving pizza. I may just make it today ๐Ÿ™‚ One question I want to subscribe but I can’t. HELP!

43 foodfitnessandfreya January 19, 2010 at 3:42 am

I didn’t see the awrads but I disagree totally – I LOVE Fergie’s dress! I’ve never even heard of the other woman lol…
Nice pizza btw ๐Ÿ™‚

44 Lisa (bakebikeblog) January 19, 2010 at 5:17 am

oooh as soon I saw that post I was excited…. I LOVE pizza!!!! Especially homemade pizza (which in my opinion is better than any [pizza you can buy!!!)

45 Lauren January 19, 2010 at 11:10 am

That pizza looks really delicious. I love pizza and now I love making my own. Such a fun and delicious treat.

46 Megan January 19, 2010 at 12:12 pm

Omg. I think Fergies dress is WAYYYYYY better than that mad men woman. I think she was showing WAY too much boob. IT was kindof overwhelming.

Maggie Gylenhal has my vote for best dressed. And Drew Barrymore for worst.

47 Karissa January 19, 2010 at 1:45 pm

I didn’t care for Fergie’s look either! My favorites were Sandra Bullock and Olivia Wilde.

48 Amanda @ Cakes and Ale January 19, 2010 at 4:18 pm

I love Christina Hendricks, but I’m not so sure about the dress… it’s a little too… peach… for me I guess!
My favorite dresses were Zoe Saldana, Sandra Bullock, and Emily Blunt…

Gotta agree with you on the Fergie one though… it looks like a bad prom dress!

49 Sarah January 21, 2010 at 8:08 pm

Pizza looks good! I’ve never tried putting lentils on pizza but the added nutritional value is intriguing. I’m seeing massaged kale lately, what does that mean?! I suppose I need to do more reading.
