It was so nice not to have any set place to be at any set time today. I could get used to being a lady of leisure.
This afternoon I took my time even getting out the door. With no set in stone plans I realized it was ok to spend an hour and a half watching ‘Taking the Stage’ on MTV (great show by the way). Eventually it was my stomach that made me move from the couch, not the clock. π
I have been meaning to eat at Bikes Beans & Bordeaux ever since I fell in love with their booth at the Orlando Food and Wine Festival back in October.
The restaurant is an adorable little hole in the type place near Winter Park. It was packed around lunch time on Saturday and I took that as a very good sign.
I loved the cyclist theme of the decorations.
For lunch I ordered the soup and sandwich combo.
Black bean soup with cheddar cheese and red onions
1/2 Tour Mediterranean Sandwich: Hummus, lettuce, tomato, red onion, sprouts, black olives, cucumber, feta cheese and a drizzle of greek dressing on italian bread
This thing was stacked high with yummy filling. Every bite was a delicious mouthful.
The combo came with a bag os Sun Chips as well.
My lunch was fantastic! I ate the whole 1/2 of my sandwich, half the bowl of soup and saved the chips for later.
After my amazing lunch I headed down the street to Track Shack for some new running shoes.
I bought my previous shoes back in June and after carrying me through 16 weeks of marathon training they were well past their prime.
Check out Maddie’s handy work.
I went into Track Shack planning on purchasing the same shoes as I never had any problems with them, but once inside I had the urge to try on everything in the store. I asked the sales person helping me if there was anything similar to the Sauconys that I could try on.
He brought out this lovely pair of Brooks Glycerin 7 and I fell in love.
They felt just as great at my Sauconys and they were on sale. I was sold!
After my $50 gift certificate (Thanks Shelley!) I walked out only having spent $24. Woo hoo!
It had been nearly 7 months and so many miles since I had replaced my running shoes. I’m also afraid to admit it had well over 9 months and so many miles since I last got the oil changed in my car. (Bad Meghann!)
I just get so busy on the weekends and getting my oil changed is always the last thing I want to do. I finally had free time today to take care of it and made it a priority.
I also managed to pamper myself a little in the process. While they were changing my oil I walked across the street to get a pedicure and manicure.
My feet really needed it after months of training roughing them up.
My fingers are always in need of a little pick me up. π
My family called me while I was waiting and informed they were all heading downtown to see Avatar in 3D. As I have been dying to see that movie since it came out, I happily raced down town to meet them.
Avatar was just as amazing as everyone has been telling me. I was a little skeptical of first, but the whole movie is just filled with so much color, story, and imagination its hard not to fall in love with it. For a close to 3 hour movie, the time flew by. I can’t wait to see it again!
During the movie I cracked into the bag of Sun Chips from lunch and split it with my brother and Dad.
When I got home I made a quick and easy dinner – albeit not a very pretty one.
I microwaved 1/2 a sweet potato and topped it with the filling of a stuffed cabbage from Thursday night and a slice of swiss cheese.
The combination was tasty and easy, just what I needed.
For dessert I halved a chocolate VitaTop and filled it with peppermint ice cream.
My vitatop peppermint ice cream sandwich was a yummy one. π
I’m pooped. I guess my 10 hours of sleep last night wasn’t enough?
Tomorrow I plan on going on my first post-marathon recovery run. I’m aiming for 3 miles. Wish me luck!
Sounds like a great day. My shoes have some doggy handiwork going on too and I love the pink on your new shoes π
Wow, you had an entire day filled with delicious looking eats. I’m totally craving that soup and sandwich lunch combo! Might have to recreat that at home on day this week… π
Sounds like such a relaxing day
You’ll knock those 3 miles dead and wonder where the other 23.2 are
Love your new running shoes.
I fell in love with avatar in 3d as well…sooo amazing. I love the story <3
Also, that peppermint icecream sammy looks divine π
i love brooks! lighter than sauconys for sure. new running shoes are so fun. i cannot believe you have all your toenails after marathon training- lucky girl!! my poor toes definitely give away my years of running, and i am always so embarassed when i go for pedicures.
i love you tattoo on your foot. did it hurt? i’ve always wondered that. i have one on my back and that was ok. i want to get another one. it’s it addicting!!??!
Glad to see you pampered yourself! I got my nails and pedi last night. Oh and I mentioned in the other post that I got running shoes and they were Brook’s so it’s good to know you got those and the shoe shop recommended a good brand!
You know I wish there were more healthy food type restaurants around here. I’m in the Chicago suburbs and I don’t really know of any good healthy spots. That sandwich and soup you had for lunch looks DIVINE.
I bought the same shoes a few weeks back and I like them so far. But, they are the first pair of real running shoes I have had
this is totally a sign that i need to get my nails did!
LOVE your tat..i have a tattoo on my right butt cheek and no im not even kidding. i love it!
great dessert!
There’s nothing like an invigorating foot and leg pounding rub, after a hard, hard, hard run. :] Love the new kicks – and yes! Another Avatar fan!! π
I watched Taking the Stage too! It made my treadmill run go by so fast!!!
I really need new shoes. I love that they’re pink.
Peppermint ice cream sounds really good! I’ve never had it before.
I also wear Brooks. New shoes are always so much fun. Your dessert looks A.MAZE.ING. =D
Still no jacuzzi?
good luck! good to know that avatar is a good one, i’ve been dying to see it π
the shoes look awesome, and I’m loving the pedi!
Wow! It looks as though your new Glycerin shoes were priced at only $80…is that right? What a great deal — here in Seattle, they’re $20 more! Enjoy!
I was exactly the same about Avatar – went in thinking I wouldn’t like it, came out in love with it and have been raving about it to everyone I meet all week!
wow that was one kickass giant sandwich!!
I want to see Avatar,,,but 2hrs45mins…my bladder couldn’t handle it!!
Sounds like you had an amazing day! I hope Sunday (today) is just as good!
I love getting new running shoes. It’s so exciting! I bet you can’t wait to break them in?!!
After all that hard work and those early mornings, you have certainly earned more than one relaxing Saturday! I’m glad your feet got a little pampering too π
We all need a day of pampering once in awhile. I didn’t know you had a tatoo! What’s it symbolize?
I used to run in the Brooks Glycerin but now am completely in love with my Asics!
I love getting a pedicure but have been budgeting so I haven’t got one in a while. I’ll have to work one in sometime!
Sounds like a fun day! Isn’t it always a little sad moving on to a new pair of running shoes? It’s like saying goodbye to a good friend!
You totally had a “mara” kind of day yesterday!! Food, shoes, mani/pedi and Avatar?! I could definitely get used to that π
What a nice relaxing day! Running really will mess with your feet. I definitely should get a pedicure, but it never lasts very long for me.
LOVE the tattoo on the foot!
I have a snowflake on my right foot in the same exact place! Im from Alaska, but am currently living in the south, and i love being able to look down and have a sweet little reminder of home! Very cool!
Brooks are the best!
I just had my first pedicure over Christmas with my mom-in-law….I was embarrassed by my black toe nail and huge callus on my big toe! Did you end up with any black toenails from training? I am still waiting for it to fall off!!
The trick to avoiding black toenails during training is properly fitting shoes. If you go just half a size larger your toes have room to move. π I’ve trained for two marathon, 3 half marathons and a million other races and have yet to lose a toe nail. *knock on wood!
Sounds like a perfect day. You definitely deserved a pedicure after your marathon!
Yummy hummus sandwich!
I didn’t know you had a tattoo π
vitatop dessert looks delish!!
Jenna
that cafe looks right up my alley! The soup and sand. combo sounds incredible!
I need new running shoes…baaaaaaad. Mine are breaking in the back and giving me blisters (boo. bc I loved them!)
Happy sunday girly!

Love the shoes! I know this is not that important but they are really cute!!! Oil change.. right.. I need to get on that as well lol
P.S. Love your tattoo on your foot!
Taking the stage is totally addictive! Love the mani pedi, what a great treat π
I didn’t know you had a tatoo either!
Your ice cream sandwich looks super yummy π
I wish I could afford to buy 2 pairs of shoes to switch out so they’d last longer. BTW, I saw Avatar last night and loved it!!
Love those new shoes! Do you have any tips you use when finding new running shoes? I have the hardest time buying new tennis shoes because I’m afraid the next pair won’t feel as good as the ones I have now.
