Official Race Photos

by Meghann on January 13, 2010

Did I really just run a marathon three days ago? Because surely my legs seem to have forgotten that fact.

I’m not sure if it was yesterday’s massage or my intensive stretching as of late, but this morning my legs felt fabulous! I honestly feel like I could go out and run another marathon this weekend!

Don’t worry I know my limit and don’t plan on doing any intense running anytime soon, but it is nice to feel like my old self again. After the light injury I sustained after my last marathon, I was really afraid I would be in the same boat this time around. So far, so go! *knock on wood*

I still continued to take it easy this morning and caught up on trashy tabloid gossip while walking the treadmill this morning. I did an easy 30 minute walk at 3.0 speed and a 3.0 incline. I didn’t even break a sweat.

A girl joined me in the lonely apartment gym half way through my walk and I was a little jealous of the heavy sweat inducing work out she was enjoying on the treadmill next to mine. I had to keep reminding myself that I had just ran a marathon and taking it easy was a good thing, not a bad thing!

After my walk, I came home to do some much needed sit ups and gave my legs a good 10 minute stretch. I am discovering in race recovery good stretching is key!

Breakfast was a lovely bowl of cereal featuring the return of pumpkin yogurt! (pumpkin yogurt = pumpkin + plain yogurt + pumpkin spice)

I have found the key to eating a cold breakfast on a cold morning it pairing it with an extra hot cup of tea. Luckily I won’t have to deal with the cold too much longer. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for the 70s in Orlando. All I can say is Thank God!!

I know I promised my race schedule, but you will just have to wait a little longer for the sneak peak. 😉

In the mean time here are some of the official race photos I ‘borrowed’ from the Disney marathon website. 😉

I was really bummed my picture in front of Cinderella’s castle was blurry. 🙁

megdisney1

And this one would have been great if I was the only one in it. 🙁

megdisney3

megdisney7

I forgot to smile in this one. 🙂 But, I think this is the truth of what I looked like the whole race. lol

Finish line photos!

megdisney8

Why did Goofy ears have to cross the finish line at the same moment I did?!?!

megdisney4

My FAVE is actually the one they take of you holding the photo at the end.

Since my main priority was to warm up after the race, I didn’t get any cute photos of me with my medal in my race gear. I may have to purchase this one and frame it. 🙂

Overall I wasn’t that excited over any of my photos. However, my sister made an effort to actually smile in all of hers and they came out GREAT!

i think your pictures are good, too 🙂 i never buy official pics anyway.

also i cannot believe you stood in the post-marathon medal line. i looked at those lines and thought i would pass out if i stood in line LOL. i’m impressed.

2 megan January 13, 2010 at 10:13 am

i like your pics! I don’t think I have ever smiled in a race picture, ever, so I’m impressed. I never even know where they are being taken…i’m too worried about continuting to run haha. so i think yours are great 🙂

3 Casey January 13, 2010 at 10:15 am

Great photos Meghann!! You and Kelly both look fabulous :).

4 Anna January 13, 2010 at 10:17 am

Awww– I think they ALL look good! It’s amazing that anyone manages to smile in ANY of them!

Awesome that your legs are feeling so good…you’re a wonder woman 🙂

5 rachael January 13, 2010 at 10:36 am

I think your pictures are great!

6 Emily January 13, 2010 at 10:37 am

You’re pictures are good – but you’re right, Kelly’s are fabulous. I did a triathlon in the fall and my pictures were AWFUL. For some reason the angle they took one of the pictures I looked like I had football player shoulders on a kid’s bike.
I never actually notice the photographers – I guess I’m too preoccupied with running.

7 Heather January 13, 2010 at 10:39 am

Love love love the pictures!! I love how Kelly looks so happy in all of them but in the video she was already saying she wouldn’t do it again haha 😉

8 Jenna January 13, 2010 at 10:47 am

Great photos! I can’t believe it is going to be back up in the 70s again tomorrow! Crazy FL weather!!

14 Britt @ Runnerbelle January 13, 2010 at 11:19 am

Great pictures!!! Mine usually come out so bad, I am slightly tempted to get my medal picture at the finish from NYC though…. its not too bad and it was a fun race.

15 goodtastehealthyme January 13, 2010 at 11:21 am

16 madisonruns January 13, 2010 at 11:54 am

23 Lily @ Lily's Health Pad January 13, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I don’t smile in race photos because I never pay attention to when my pictures is being taken. I guess that’s why my pics are always so terrible…

24 DiningAndDishing January 13, 2010 at 12:50 pm

25 Laura Georgina January 13, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Kelly’s may be more smiley, but you both look awesome in your pictures–I could never look that composed after any run, much less a marathon!

26 Anne Marie@New Weigh of Life January 13, 2010 at 1:13 pm

The pictures came out great for both of you!

27 Lauren @ Reading and Running January 13, 2010 at 1:23 pm

You can totally edit goofy ears out of your finishing photo! At least you beat him!! Kelly’s pics are great but so are yours. And you ran a freakin’ marathon, that’s what really matters!

28 Hangry Pants January 13, 2010 at 1:29 pm

I think the pictures are great, and it’s actually a relief to know you don’t smile the whole entire time you run. 😀 Also, you are nuts and I am sure you will run something, somewhere in the next … two weeks. That’s my bet. 🙂

29 allie January 13, 2010 at 1:38 pm

both of your photos are great!! the one of kelly at the end is great- it’s like she’s modeling with diposable heating blanket. excellent!

30 Sara January 13, 2010 at 1:41 pm

What great photos, I definitely believe a great course with interesting sites keeps you motivated! When I run near farms in the summer, the stink alone motivates me to run faster 🙂

31 Angela January 13, 2010 at 1:44 pm

i think all of the pictures are great!

32 Dynamics January 13, 2010 at 1:46 pm

Find someone who is great in Photoshop and they can remove those people and possibly sharpen up your picture. Congrats on the race!

The fact that you wore yellow makes you stand out in all of your race photos anyways. I think they are all very cute 🙂

38 Rachel January 13, 2010 at 2:36 pm

Congrats again! Glad you’re taking it easy for a few days. I’m sure your body appreciates it 😀

39 Matt January 13, 2010 at 3:02 pm

42 Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) January 13, 2010 at 5:38 pm

You and your sister are so cute! I definitely agree about the hot tea with a cold breakfast — I’ve been doing that so I can still enjoy smoothies 🙂

I am jealous of your 70’s although it is heating up here tomorrow…40’s woo hoo!

43 Erica January 14, 2010 at 9:27 am
