Snow Day!

by Meghann on January 1, 2010

What does a family of Floridians do with their spare time in the mountains?

We sled!!

We couldn’t resist testing out the sleds we found in the shed on the hill next to our cabin.

Josh started us off

Next, I braved the hill

Dad showed us how it was done

Kelly took it slow

Don’t worry he was ok!

We moved from our snow covered hill to the plowed street hoping for a little more distance and speed.

A local kid joined us and offered up some of his sleds.

Sledding caught on film:

Eventually we wore ourselves out and headed back inside.

IMG_5026.JPG

I had a handful of Puffins before we headed to our next adventure.

IMG_6257.JPG

We had reservations for tubing at 1:00 at Copper Mountain. On our way we stopped in Frisco for lunch at Backcountry Brewery.

IMG_5062.JPG

IMG_5063.JPG

Unfortunately the service was really slow and we ended up having to get our food to go so we could make our reservation.

IMG_5064.JPG

Having to eat food in the car does not a happy Meghann make. :(

IMG_5065.JPG

If I had known I would be eating in the car I would have ordered a bit differently. My soup, salad, and potato combo was not the easiest to eat in my lap.

Salad

IMG_5068.JPG

French Onion Soup with out the cheese and bread

IMG_5069.JPG

Baked Potato with some sour cream

IMG_5070.JPG

As much as it sucked to eat in the car, it was worth it to make it to tubing on time.

If you are visiting the area I would HIGHLY recommend tubing at Copper Mountain! The staff is amazing and basically let you go down the mountain anyway you want, with as many people as you want and they are great spinners.

Tubing adventure caught on film:

Everyone agreed a beer was needed after tubing, so we headed to an Irish Pub in downtown Breckenridge.

IMG_5077.JPG

The bar had tented their deck and added a heat vent. I thought the whole set up was interesting to say the least. :)

IMG_5080.JPG

I ordered my old stand by: a blue moon .

IMG_5081.JPG

The table ordered a round chili cheese fries and chicken wings to share.

IMG_5083.JPG

IMG_5091.JPG

My lunch was not filling at all. I happily dug in and enjoyed every greasy bite. :)

IMG_5086.JPG IMG_5089.JPG

Kelly and I were actually very inspired by the chili cheese fries and decided to make a healthier version of our own for dinner using a can of Amy’s Chili.

IMG_5092.JPG

Kelly baked some fresh cut potato fries that I topped with the chili, cheese, and some green beans to give it a little color.

IMG_5096.JPG

The combination was delicious. Nom Nom Nom

IMG_5098.JPG

For dessert I had a piece of cake left over from last night and a small scoop of mint ice cream.

IMG_5102.JPG

I reality I have probably had two or three bites of cake throughout the day on top of this bowl. Cake siting on the counter is just too tempting for its own good!

Tomorrow is our last day of skiing and playing in the snow. :( This vacation went way to quick! I’m not ready to head back to reality.

Come back vacation! Come back!!!

The Start of 2010

January 1, 2010

Happy New Year! And welcome to 2010! I spent the last moments of 2009 ringing in the New Years with those I love the most. (Mom and Dad didn’t even make it to 9:00) We discovered CNN was reporting live from times square and were able to watch the ball drop with Anderson Cooper and more ยป
