Sleeping in

by Meghann on December 18, 2009

Good Morning!

It’s finally Friday! Woo hoo!!!

Have you checked out my ICE! adventure recap yet? I love fun weeknight outings I really need to go on fun adventures with friends more often.

The one downside? Staying up until midnight on a work night. Ughh…

You win some, you lose some. 🙂

Luckily I had the chance to sleep in a little today. I woke up naturally at 6:30 and did some Yoga for Runners in preparation for my 20 miler tomorrow morning (yikes!).

Breakfast was quick and easy and involved the last of my homemade pumpkin yogurt from yesterday.

RE: Blog Update

I’m toying with the idea of ‘The Inner Workings of a Running Machine’ thoughts?

I also want to stress that this new lay out is temporary! 🙂

I have contacted a few blog whiz heads to help me transition to self hosting (gasp!) and a whole new look.

Change is in the air for my little blog!

Thanks again for all the wonderful feed back. You guys were honest and truthful. I 100% appreciate it!! 🙂

1 amanda @ fake ginger December 18, 2009 at 9:58 am

I love to (possible) new name! You are the machine after all!

2 megan December 18, 2009 at 10:02 am

I’m not a huge fan of the new name possibility, but I”ll keep reading no matter what 🙂

too bad you couldn’t predict from the beginning how crazy popular your blog would be 🙂 I guess this is a good problem to have, right? it means you’re still blogging and moving forward!

3 thefitbride December 18, 2009 at 10:03 am

I love the new header you posted on Twitter!

My only issue with the new name is that it makes it sound like it’s a blog just about running, when it’s about a lot more than that!

4 megzzwinsatlife December 18, 2009 at 10:02 am

yeahh for sleeping in.. Fridays are my “sleep in” day as well and I love it! I like the idea of the name!! DO you feel like you will have to focus your post more on running then?

Have a nice weekend!

5 jenna December 18, 2009 at 10:09 am

I like the name as is !

6 Meg C. December 18, 2009 at 10:10 am

maybe you can lose the “inner workings” part of the name and just stick with the running machine theme? or put your name in there somehow? running machine meghann? you want it to be succinct.

7 caitsplate December 18, 2009 at 10:11 am

I like “Inner Workings of a College Graduate” best, but whatever you choose is ultimately up to you! I just read for your awesome content 🙂

8 greenbean December 18, 2009 at 10:12 am

something about “machine” isn’t quite right. are you tied to keeping “the inner workings of…”? maybe you could branch off in a completely new direction with the title. or “the inner workings of a running foodie”. idk. i’ll keep thinking 🙂 love that you’re so open to honest feedback.

9 Kristine December 18, 2009 at 10:13 am

Yes is that my idea from Twitter?! Love it!!!

10 sarah (ghost world) December 18, 2009 at 10:14 am

i don’t know how i feel about running machine — sounds a little too . . . robotic or something? of course i’d keep reading anyway 🙂 what about . . .

11 Kristine December 18, 2009 at 10:16 am

Hmm just read comments from above and it does kind of make it out to sound like your blog is only about running, which it isn’t. I do like the idea of keeping The Inner Workings though!

12 Kristine December 18, 2009 at 10:17 am

I second Meghann on the Run!

13 Monica December 18, 2009 at 10:18 am

I must chime in….I am a lurker, but this is something I have thought about for awhile. I love your blog! It is super cute and high energy. I don’t think your title reflects that. For some reason “Inner workings” makes you expect one thing, but you are something totally different (i.e. much more awesome). I know coming up with a blog name is hard (hence why I have never started one!), but I think you should consider branching out. Just my two cents. Of course, if you like the ‘inner working’ brand/feel, you should roll with it.

14 RhodeyGirlTests December 18, 2009 at 10:19 am

I like it. You ARE a machine after all.

15 Anne Marie@ New Weigh of Life December 18, 2009 at 10:19 am

At least it’s Friday! You can always catch up on sleep later 🙂

16 RhodeyGirlTests December 18, 2009 at 10:19 am

I like the Twitter header you posted too.

17 Morgan @ Life After Bagels December 18, 2009 at 10:27 am

hmmmm I’m torn Meghann . . . sorry! I think that if you made the switch that your readers will follow, just not sure what the best switch should be. I love the “in the real world” part of your brand right now

18 meyergirl December 18, 2009 at 10:27 am

I really liked the header you posted on Twitter!! I’m a fan of short blog titles, though, so I’d like to see something a little different.

19 courtlove111 December 18, 2009 at 10:29 am

I like your breakfast bowl! So cute and festive!!
The only thing about this layout I don’t like is having to scroll to the top of the post to get back to the comments….but I like the running machine idea.

we did an ICE show/thing in Nashville a couple years ago. same blue coats! but lots of fun.

21 Neely December 18, 2009 at 10:32 am

Meghann’s Musings!

I like shorter titles, too.

22 Erin December 18, 2009 at 10:34 am

I like the name change and am excited to see how the blog layout differs. I read on Google Reader but have to comment on the actual blog so it’s the best of both worlds. 😉

23 laura dishes December 18, 2009 at 10:52 am

I would pick a shorter name than the one you have now. Running is a big part of your blog, but I’m not sure that I’d include “running” or “machine” in the name. Running is so specific and machine sounds too unrelatable.

I’m excited to see where this transition takes you– if it makes you feel any better, I still haven’t changed the generic header that I started with! Yikes!

24 Molly December 18, 2009 at 11:11 am

I loved your ICE recap. made me giggle…especially because I am living in the 9 degree weather right now. except it’s permanent. Sadly, 9 degrees is almost considered a heat wave on some days. Damn Minnesota!
Glad you had fun, your breakfast looks yummy! IM going to have to try out that yogurt mixture sometime.
Have a good Friday! 🙂

25 Lily @ Lily's Health Pad December 18, 2009 at 11:12 am

I’m also unsure about including ‘running’ in the blog name. You will have branded your blog as a running blog. I know you love running now and you have for a few years, but what if running becomes less important to you later on down the road?

26 Clare December 18, 2009 at 11:19 am

Running Machine sounds a little intimidating to me…something I probably wouldn’t check out because I thought it would be ONLY about running!

I know the “graduate” thing gets weirder as you get farther and farther out of College, but I like it better right now. Let us know of other ones you are toying with!

27 Becky December 18, 2009 at 11:26 am

running machine kind of sounds like that’s all you do pretty much. you’re a lot faster and better than running than most people i know, but it’s more about if that’s how you want to define yourself i guess. i like the the college graduate, it’s open-ended.

28 Megan December 18, 2009 at 11:29 am

I agree with the fact that the running machine title makes it seem like it’s a running blog ala runners rambles or frayed laces. Your focus seems to be much more on food, with less content dedicated to running, so I think maybe it would be misleading. I like the content now and am an avid reader, but if I was looking for a running blog, I would be disappointed!!

29 Dana December 18, 2009 at 11:30 am

I like Sarah’s ideas much better..I think your idea is a bit long, just my opinion.

30 Kay December 18, 2009 at 11:33 am

Since you asked 🙂 I would suggest getting read of the “inner workings” part; it always makes me think of intestines or regularity or something.

31 Melissa S. December 18, 2009 at 12:00 pm

i think if you use that name it might single it out as a running blog and not a food blog per say….i’m horrible with names so i don’t have any suggestions! sorry!

32 Beth @ DiningAndDishing December 18, 2009 at 12:04 pm

I think the new name idea sounds great! Plus, it’ll be good motivation to keep running and running….

33 Stephanie December 18, 2009 at 12:22 pm

I know you’ve already gotten a million comments similiar to this, but “I can’t resist”….. you are so much more than running! Plus, it doesn’t give you as much room to grow. Plus, I love your receipes and all the other topics you write about.

Also, some companies/organizations/etc. might not want to specifically focus on a runner– you might be limiting your opportunities.

34 Anne P December 18, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I think for the title I would lose the “Inner Workings…” part… I just think it makes it too long. Not sure about the Running Machine thing since your blog is 80% about food you know?… maybe like “Running for Food”? Or something along those lines? I’m bad at titles, haha. It took me forever to come up with mine.

35 Mama Pea December 18, 2009 at 12:57 pm

Yeah, “Inner Workings” with “Machine” just sounds too mechanical to me. I loved your ICE post last night! What an amazing experience. I wish they had something like that here to take the girls to.

36 Caroline December 18, 2009 at 12:57 pm

“running machine” sounds so harsh and gender neutral. Not saying you have to go girly girl though. I like Anne P’s suggestion of “running for food”

37 Deva (Voracious Vorilee) December 18, 2009 at 1:12 pm

I like the idea of a name change, but am not sure if “running machine” gives a good overview for your blog – it’s sounds too harsh to me. I like the above suggestion of “Running for Food” or “Meghann Runs for Food” or something like that 🙂

38 Karla December 18, 2009 at 1:21 pm

I like the name change idea! And the layouts’s not bad either 🙂

39 biz319 December 18, 2009 at 1:24 pm

Yep, I think you have outgrown the innerworkings of a college graduate title since you’ve been out of school – love the new name! 😀

40 hrthulin December 18, 2009 at 1:26 pm

I like the “inner workings” part because it’s lets readers know that they can find out what’s going on in your mind! I agree with some of the other comments that putting “running machine” after might be a little misleading and make someone think it’s only a blog about running (though I agree you are a running machine!!! 🙂 ). Since you combine a lot of food elements, I would suggest maybe, “The Inner Workings of a Running Foodie” or “The Inner Workings of a Foodie on the Run.” Whatever you choose, I love your blog and you’ve helped inspire me to run my first 10K and Half this spring!! 🙂

41 Kristin December 18, 2009 at 1:38 pm

I’d drop the “inner workings”. Totally unnecessary.

42 Amy P December 18, 2009 at 1:46 pm

i like the name as is 😉

43 Andrea December 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Oh I like the “foodie on the run” idea. I think both of these concepts should be incorporated into your title. As most have said, you don’t want to make it sound like strictly a running blog because you offer so much more on here. 😉

44 Wendy December 18, 2009 at 2:52 pm

Honestly, I don’t really care for it. I agree with the above readers who said it was too long, too “mechanical”, too gender-neutral, & brands the blog too much as a running blog. The blog (and you!) are so much more than that. I liked Sarah’s ideas of “Meghann on the Run” or “Running with a Smile”. The “Smile” one definitely fits your personality! 🙂

45 Chelsea December 18, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Love your bowl! What would the url be for that name?

46 Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen December 18, 2009 at 3:46 pm

WOW, that sounds like some spicy soup! Not sure on a name…the best ones tend to come when I’m not thinking about it at all 🙂 Enjoy your Friday!

47 Jenna December 18, 2009 at 3:58 pm

wow! that sounds spicaayy!

48 Leah December 18, 2009 at 5:32 pm

One of my multiple bosses gave me a giant chocolate bar. milk chocolate with nougat. Obvi, he doesn’t know about my love affair with dark chocolate.

49 Erin (Mommy on the Run) December 18, 2009 at 6:10 pm

I have to admit, I didn’t read your blog for a while because of the name. I had no idea it was a healthy living blog! I kinda like “Running with a Smile.” Good luck with the changes!!

50 Niki December 18, 2009 at 8:28 pm

I like the header and new idea of blog name! Super cute!!

51 Alissa December 18, 2009 at 9:01 pm

I have to say, I don’t really like the running machine. I think you talk about food a lot more than your running. I think your blog name should focus more on a healthy living theme.

52 Lacey December 18, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Aww…I have to admit that the “college graduate” part of your blog title is what attracted me to your blog when I first started reading. The “Running Machine” title fits you, but may steer away readers who aren’t runners.
