Puppy's First Christmas

by Meghann on December 3, 2009

Yesterday I put away my pile of clothes and tonight I attempted to conquer one of the many other messes in my apartment at the moment- the pile of Christmas decorations that were needing to be put up.

I needed motivation to complete the task at hand. Watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer helped fill me with Christmas spirit. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dressing Maddie in Christmas clothes helped too.

Doesn’t she look so thrilled to be wearing her shirt?

I had originally purchased this ‘Puppy’s First Christmas’ shirt for Abbie a couple of years ago.

I uncovered it with the rest of my Christmas paraphernalia and knew it was Maddie’s turn to wear the shirt. I know Abbie would have been happy to share.

I am dying to find a puppy’s first christmas ornament. Let me know if you know where to find one!

Putting my tree up really took no time at all. It may not be as extravagant of a tree as my Mom’s, but its all mine and each ornament holds a special memory.

Do you sense a snowflake theme? I’m a teeny bit obsessed.

I tried to get Maddie to pose in front of the tree, but it was a lot cause. She went back and forth on wanting to eat the tree and being deathly afraid of it. lol

Rewind to earlier this after you will see I invented a killer snack at work.

Brown Rice Cake + Barney Butter + Dried Berries = Yummy!

Try it. You’ll like it!

Since I spent my evening decorating my tree, I really didn’t feel like putting the effort into an elaborate meal. Instead I dug in the freezer and found a Kashi Pizza that had been taking up a lot of space in there for far too long.

Fresh out of the box.

After I pimped it with veggies galore.

Much better!

It pains me that according to the box a ‘serving’ of a Kashi pizza is 1/3 of a pizza. That is simply not enough. I always take at least half. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The extra veggies really makes the pizza. Granted I haven’t tried this particular flavor un-pimped, but I bet it would be pretty plain on its own.

The last of my Warm Red Cabbage Salad was an excellent accompaniment to my pizza.

For dessert I enjoyed 1/2 of one of Amanda’s Peanut Butter Cup Blondies and a touch of Chocolate Ice Cream.

Paired with a cup of Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Tea.

In my favorite Snowflake mug.:)

I <3 Snowflakes!

I’m so happy to have another item crossed off my list! Now I just need to take those boxes to the dumpster. I SWEAR that is in the books for tomorrow.

Pinky promise!

Heheh! Maggie is superrr cute!

2 Evan Thomas December 3, 2009 at 10:35 pm

Lol. way to pimp your pizza! You could be an MTV health show ๐Ÿ™‚

3 Molly @vegandorm December 3, 2009 at 10:36 pm

I did some cleaning today too! The worst parts for me are overall clutter and leaving dishes unwashed. I feel so much more relaxed in a clean room!

4 eaternotarunner December 3, 2009 at 10:36 pm

Love the tree! I am still searching for that tea ๐Ÿ™

5 Tay December 3, 2009 at 10:45 pm

I love your polar bear Ty ornament!! It’s okay – you might have a slight obsession with snowflakes, but I have a huge obsession with polar bears ๐Ÿ˜‰

And I love that Mexicali pizza. It is plain, but I LOVE the black bean sauce on it. Delicious!

6 Lisa (bakebikeblog) December 3, 2009 at 10:48 pm

awwww Maddie is simply adorable!!!
Love the idea of putting more vegies on the pizza – great way to add some more nutrients ๐Ÿ™‚

7 Nicci@NE December 3, 2009 at 10:49 pm

This will be Chooey’s first Christmas as well ๐Ÿ™‚

11 Erin December 3, 2009 at 11:04 pm

Aw, she is too cute! It’s fun to have a theme with your tree. I collect ornaments from around the world when I travel and tend to be attracted to angels. ๐Ÿ˜€

Maddie looks so cute! My family dresses our dog up every year for the Christmas card, and then we let him tear off the outfit ๐Ÿ™‚

Just think, you are getting one step closer to a sparkling clean apartment!

18 Courtney @ The Tasty Balance December 3, 2009 at 11:44 pm

23 Neely December 4, 2009 at 12:34 am

I dress up Kashi Mexicali pizza with shrimp and cilantro. It rules.

24 meyergirl December 4, 2009 at 12:49 am

After seeing everyone’s Christmas mugs, I think I’m going to have to get one to keep in the office for the tea I need to drink instead of Diet Soda.

25 Courtney December 4, 2009 at 12:51 am

I LOVE SNOWFLAKES, too! :] You’re little apt is too cute! And that pizza. NOM NOM NOM.

26 Courtney December 4, 2009 at 12:51 am

28 Catherine December 4, 2009 at 12:59 am

My dog is Jack Russell like Maddie and I put a coat on her last night for her walk (it’s been getting CHILLY here lately) and she literally wouldn’t walk down the street!!! She was so upset about it! I had to take it off her before she’d pee ๐Ÿ™

29 Wendy December 4, 2009 at 12:59 am

Great job tackling part of your big fat mess!

As a midwesterner, it’s really odd to me to see a tornado watch on the TV screen with Rudolph!

30 coco December 4, 2009 at 6:18 am

Such a pretty true!!! great job on decorating it!
oh.. that pizza looks divine with added veggies! I like those thin crust pizza so much!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

31 allisonisactive December 4, 2009 at 7:54 am

I admire your motivation to get things done! I need to clean our bathroom, dust, do dishes, steam the floors, and wash the sheets and couch covers. However, I have no energy on weeknights. Good for you for making it happen!

32 Karla December 4, 2009 at 8:36 am

Awww Maddie! She’s just too cute! I love it when dogs wear clothes! They just look so silly!

Cleaning my apartment is on my to do list too!

33 kristen December 4, 2009 at 8:56 am

Maybe you love snowflakes so much because you don’t have to shovel them ๐Ÿ™‚

(that being said, i also love snowflakes even though i live in a place that got 15 feet of snow a couple of winters ago)

34 Jo Stockton December 4, 2009 at 8:57 am

Aww, your puppy is adorable! I’ve been searching high and low for Celestial Seasonings holiday teas. No luck so far. Sad!

35 Laura Georgina December 4, 2009 at 9:15 am

Seems last night was pizza night all around–I had some too (ham, eggplant, pineapple) but those green olives on your beautiful pizza are making me think pizza might be in order tonight too.

You are so lucky you can get Maddie into a Christmas outfit! My dog will let me put a bowtie on him, but it doesn’t last. Oh well, terriers will do as they please….

36 Kara December 4, 2009 at 9:28 am

Oooh I am interested in a Puppy’s First Christmas ornament, too! Ollie doesn’t know what’s coming ๐Ÿ˜‰

37 Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) December 4, 2009 at 9:37 am

That is the cutest puppy shirt ever! You were definitely getting festive last night.

I love how you added veggies to the Kashi pizza, what a great idea!

38 Elina December 4, 2009 at 9:39 am

Aww Maddie looks adorable in her puppy shirt!

44 Jamie December 4, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Thats a great idea to pimp up the pizza with all those veggies. I am a veggie lover like you are so that really appeals to me– thanks for the idea!

45 jeri December 4, 2009 at 1:21 pm

yay, one thing at a time! that’s the only way I can accomplish my mess. I like to cross things off a list. the other thing I do is set my alarm for 45 minutes. make myself clean for 45 than I can take a break. usually I’m so into it, I just keep going til it’s done shortly after. ๐Ÿ™‚

46 Ali December 4, 2009 at 1:27 pm

I love Maddie in that shirt, so cute! You tree is adorable! All of my ornaments have a meaning too, they make me smile every time I put them on the tree!!!

47 goodtastehealthyme December 4, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Did that say tornado watch!?!?! I would’ve been freaking out! I have some crazy insane fear of tornados…I blame Twister. ๐Ÿ™‚

48 Meghann December 4, 2009 at 2:42 pm

lol…. torando watches are such a common thing in Florida. I’ve learned to shrug them off. ๐Ÿ™‚

Instead of throwing your boxes in the Dumpster, please recycle them!
