My Latest Addition

by Meghann on November 28, 2009

I would like to introduce you to the newest member of the GraduateMeghann family…

It’s a Rebel!!!!

IMG_0145.JPG

The Canon Rebel T1i to be exact. :)

After a couple of months of saving, researching, and testing out my Mom’s camera I knew the rebel was what I wanted to go with. When I saw Nicole from Another One Bites the Crust (Love her blog and photos!) was selling her less then a year old camera, I knew it was fate.

I purchased the slightly used Rebel from Nicole at a very reasonable rate and could not be happier!

IMG_0146.JPG

Now I just need to familiarize myself with the new camera and truly learn what it can do. Nicole told me that apparently you can set the camera on manual, adjust the settings, and see what the picture is going to come out like in the live view mode on the back of the camera before you take it. Can’t wait to play with that setting. :)

The camera was actually suppose to arrive on Wednesday, but was held up at the FedEx facilities in Orlando. They then tried to deliver the camera yesterday, but we were all busy shopping and no one was home to sign for it. :( Finally, after waiting by the door all day the camera arrived just before 5:00 pm. Better late then never.

I did manage to keep myself pretty busy while waiting for the camera to arrive with a little Christmas decorating. Well more supervising than decorating. ;)

The boy hung the lights and I watched the pups.

When lunch time rolled around Kelly and I volunteer pick a selection of subs for everyone from Publix.

My sister and I split a footlong veggie sub on multigrain bread.

Nom Nom Nom

IMG_0074.JPG

My favorite part of the Christmas decorating process has to be picking out the perfect family christmas tree.

IMG_0082.JPG IMG_0085.JPG

Alot of thought went into finding the perfect tree.

IMG_0088.JPG

IMG_0098.JPG

In the end we went with a 10 ft ‘surprise tree.’ We call it a surprise tree because we select one that is still wrapped up and won’t know what it looks like until we get it home and take the twine off.

Once we got the tree home it was time to reveal the surprise.

IMG_0063.JPG

My Mom’s has a Precious Moment for each year here and my Dad have been married.

IMG_0102.JPG

This year she added #27 to the collection.

IMG_0120.JPG

My siblings and I also have a precious moment ornament from the year we were born and by tradition we all hang our personal ornament first.

IMG_0091.JPG

Mine from 1985. :)

IMG_0125.JPG

IMG_0140.JPG

I had alot of fun playing with my new camera while decorating the tree. :)

The finished tree ready for presents to start filling up underneath. ;)

IMG_0159.JPG

My Mom is a little obsessed with the gold theme for our tree.

As if we hadn’t had enough Turkey this week, my little bro had receive a free turkey from work and my Dad decided to make it while the family was all together.

IMG_0072.JPG

He slathered the turkey with a homemade basil and oregano butter using fresh herbs from his windowsil. The results were moist and delicious.

IMG_9885.JPG

With the turkey my Dad made homemade Mashed Potatoes

Rolls

and an array of left overs from Thursday

IMG_9940.JPG

My plate with a bite of everything

IMG_9947.JPG

My Dad had put the idea of cookies in our heads for dessert. We went with the no fail Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe from the back of the Nestle Tollhouse bag.

IMG_0025.JPG

IMG_0012.JPG

IMG_0027.JPG

For some reason I have trouble making ‘small’ cookies and always end up with gigantic ones.

IMG_0034.JPG

IMG_0046.JPG

Nothing goes better with fresh cookies hot out of the oven then ice cream.

IMG_0072.JPG

I had one cookie with a scoop of vanilla fudge swirl on top and it was basically nothing short of amazing. ;)

IMG_0069.JPG

I <3 my new Rebel!!!! :)

My alarm is set for 4:00 am tomorrow!!! The whistle blows for the Space Coast Half Marathon at 6:00 am and they are reccomending everyone begin to corral at least 15 minutes before hand.

I have all my race gear laid out and hopefully I will be ready to run so early in the morning.

IMG_0089.JPG

My stomach is full of butterflies in anticipation of race day. Let’s hope those butterflies allow me at least a little bit of sleep tonight

Wish us luck!

Good Night!

Just Chilling

by Meghann on November 28, 2009

For the first time this holiday weekend it felt great to sleep in a little this morning.

Thanks to the cooler weather that has currently parked itself over central Florida, I did not have to worry about starting my run at the crack of dawn. In fact I was able to wake up naturally and took my time before lacing up my running shoes and stepping out the door.

I had not plans to run anything too crazy since I have my half marathon tomorrow, but I did want to losen my legs up a bit and ran a 5k at my goal pace for tomorrow morning (8:30 min/mile).

The run was a bit chilly and I fully intend on investing in some cheap throw away gloves to wear tomorrow morning which is suppose to be as equally as chilly.

Most of the household was awake upon my return and the dogs were wound up, begging for Derek to play with them.

IMG_0015.JPG

Don’t you love how Maddie tries to participate, but always makes sure to keep a safe 2 feet distance? She ain’t no fool!

IMG_0017.JPG

My Dad got to work in the kitchen making his famous sausage gravy and biscuits.

IMG_0004.JPG

IMG_0018.JPG

IMG_0021.JPG

My family i pretty odd and prefers frozen biscuits over homemade biscuits. We just never seem to make them as fluffy.

IMG_0020.JPG

IMG_0024.JPG

Scrambled eggs to round the meal out

IMG_0031.JPG

IMG_0034.JPG

IMG_0036.JPG

My plate with a little taste of everything.

IMG_0039.JPG

Delicious. :)

Today is a BIG day in the GraduateMeghann household. Its FSU v UF game day!!!

This is a big rivalry that has been dividing my family right down the middle ever since I decided to attend FSU and my twin brother went with UF. (Kelly later made her way to FSU too)

100_0787.JPG

This year we are taking advantage of the brand new flat screen and watching the game in the comfort of our own. I know the Seminoles have no odds of securing a win today, but it doesn’t stop me from routing on my alma mater.

Go Noles!!!

Is there a friendly rivalry between any sports teams in your family?
