Fresh Eats

Have you voted today? πŸ˜‰

Currently the name of the game is β€˜eat as much of the remaining fruits and veggies in my fridge as possible before I leave for Thanksgving.’ I like to think my snack and lunch today have done a pretty good job of achieving that. πŸ˜‰

First my snack this morning consisted of veggies and hummus.

Veggies = Broccoli & Cucumber.

IMG_9684

Hummus = Jalapeno & Cilantro Hummus from the Publix Deli.

Lunch was a beautiful plate of goodies straight from the fridge. IMG_9691

The star of course was this wrap that was stuffed with what ever looked good in the fridge.

IMG_9694

Fillers included pesto, brie, olives, raisins, and spinach.

IMG_9689

I heated it in the George Foreman and it was basically nothing short of amazing. πŸ˜‰

On the side I had left over Okra fries from yesterday.

Dessert was a fortune cookie that has been staring at me on the counter for weeks now.

After work I need to run to the mall to purchase a white shirt to wear for Thanksgiving. Since the majority of my extended family will be at Thanksgiving Dinner this year (That’s about 50 people!) we are having family portraits done and I have been instructed to wear a white shirt and jeans.

This is much better than the pastel (shudder) and jeans look that was thrown out at one point. Only problem is I don’t know if by white shirt they mean white t-shirt or white button down? I guess it doesn’t matter? I do own a white t-shirt but it has a little stain on my chest that makes it no bueno for photos.

Anyone know of any cheap stores to purchase a plain white shirt?

That wrap looks yummy!! I’ve been eyeing those okra fries…! They look delish!!

How about Old Navy? Or even Target for the shirts!

2 Tracy November 24, 2009 at 4:24 pm

I have a nice button-down shirt from NY&C; I’m not sure of the price, but I would say $20-25?

3 janetha November 24, 2009 at 4:27 pm

forever 21, cute plain white Ts for $4.80.

4 Leianna November 24, 2009 at 4:28 pm

Definetely Old Navy or Gap, thats wher I got mine for less than $20!

5 Megan November 24, 2009 at 4:28 pm

I’d second the Target or Old Navy suggestion.

And not to be annoying, but I think its “shudder” not “shutter.”

But either way, agree with the sentiment towards pastels…

My family did a pic where we had to all wear navy and white. At least you already have jeans–I had to buy a new dress for it!

I would go to Target or any department store (and check the junior department!) I would get a cute V-neck or button-down, this is a still a picture you’ll have a to look at for years; you’ll want to look cute πŸ™‚ Good luck!

Hi Meghann,
I don’t have a blog but I read yours all the time. I grew up in Melbourne and I’m now living in Port Saint Lucie, I ran the Space Coast half marathon last year and I am doing i again this year. The out and back type of coarse kinda sucks but the scenery is amazing! Good luck. If I see you I will say hi.

i love the white shirt and jeans look for a family pic. My sister her husband and 3 little boys did that for a pic last year on the beach. So cute!

9 Kara November 24, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Definitely Old Navy, Gap, or Ann Taylor Loft!

10 eaternotarunner November 24, 2009 at 4:39 pm

Yeah I would say old navy…..or even marshalls!

11 Allison November 24, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Target! Or Old Navy.

12 Erin November 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm

Another vote for Old Navy — they usually have good deals on simple tees.

13 Mariel November 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm

H&M?

14 Meg C. November 24, 2009 at 4:48 pm

I always remember being told not to wear white on picture days in school because it didn’t photograph well, or something.

15 Kara (Kara's Marathon) November 24, 2009 at 4:50 pm

Another vote for Old Navy/Gap or Ann Taylor Loft! Banana also has a bunch of stuff on sale, but their sale rack can be hard to navigate when you’re looking for something specific…

16 Beth S. November 24, 2009 at 4:52 pm

Thanks for those tips earlier on voting…I can now vote 4x a day πŸ˜€ My wraps never ever look that good.

17 Lizzy November 24, 2009 at 4:59 pm

i would totally go to old navy or to target for sure! you’ll find amazing deals!

Old Navy all the way! Have a fun thanksgiving!

19 Shannon (The Daily Balance) November 24, 2009 at 5:12 pm

I’d go with target or american apparel — theirs are SO comfy πŸ˜‰

20 MelissaNibbles November 24, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Gap

21 Leslie November 24, 2009 at 5:18 pm

Gap and J. Crew usually have a good selection of cute, long sleeved shirts in basic colors that you can wear again and again. I find them on-sale at both of those stores all the time (Between $9.99 – $19.99).

22 Abby (Abby's VeGaN Eats) November 24, 2009 at 5:19 pm

old navy

23 VeggieGirl November 24, 2009 at 5:34 pm

Voted! πŸ™‚

Go to Gap.

24 Kim November 24, 2009 at 5:51 pm

TARGET. $8.00. Flattering.

25 Deirdre November 24, 2009 at 6:15 pm

H&M or Target

26 Morgan @ Life After Bagels November 24, 2009 at 6:16 pm

yeah probably H and M . . .

whenever I have to eat all the vegetables left in my fridge I just stirfry them!

27 Matt November 24, 2009 at 6:40 pm

Try Old Navy for a cheap shirt.

28 Jenny November 24, 2009 at 6:40 pm

walmart! you can get a bag of 3 for about 5 dollars. It’s amazing!

29 inmytummy November 24, 2009 at 7:30 pm

Target.

30 Katie November 24, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Old Navy and Target have the best white tshirts. I love those days when it’s whateever you find you eat. Looks delish, I was instructed under threat of death that if I made a single mess in the kitchen I would be killed so I went to Panera instead πŸ˜‰ LOL

31 Christy November 24, 2009 at 7:58 pm

Go to Plato’s closet!! I love that store because it has cheap, cute clothes!

32 Ali November 24, 2009 at 9:02 pm

H&M has cute stuff cheap, and you guys just got one, right?

33 jennylikestorun November 24, 2009 at 9:13 pm

Lunch looks delicious!!!!! I need a George Foreman grill, big time.

34 rae November 24, 2009 at 9:16 pm

H&M, definitely! Cute chep clothes. Or maybe Charlotte Russe?

35 Alyssa November 24, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Do you make the okra fries, and if so how?

Also, I love that you randomly throw wraps together because I do the same thing. My favorite right now is pumpkin with some raspberry jam, goat cheese, pear, and a sprinkle of cinnamon!!! Sometimes I throw mine on the Foreman too! Yum-o either way!!!

36 Danielle November 24, 2009 at 11:14 pm

We have family pictures on Friday, except we are supposed to wear black shirts and jeans. I guess it’s a good time to do it since everyone will be in town. I’m glad that you were able to find something to wear πŸ™‚

37 Jenna November 24, 2009 at 11:57 pm

wow! that wrap looks great! a family photo is so cute πŸ™‚ my family did one last summer and it came out awesome! good luck!
