Semi-Homemade

by Meghann on November 24, 2009

Only one more day until Thanksgiving! Yippeee!!

I’ve been watching Thanksgiving specials on the tv all evening and it has really put me in the Thanksgiving spirit. I am now officially craving Pumpkin Pie, Cranberry Sauce, Green Bean Casserole, and Turkey. Can’t wait!

Before I can start celebrating the holiday I still need to get through half a day of work tomorrow, but then I’m free!

Work today was a tad slow which is to be expected with the impending holiday. My afternoon was filled with competitive research analysis and this fabulous afternoon snack.

Blueberry Oikos + Pumpkin Granola + Pom

I really enjoyed the pom in this combination. They gave each bit a nice, refreshing crunch. :)

After work I was able to hit up Target and find an acceptable white shirt for Thanksgiving. Also, I may or may not have picked up an outfit to wear tomorrow as well. ;)

Now I am just trying to decide how I should wear my hair for pictures tomorrow – straight or curly?

What do you think?

Dinner tonight was semi- homemade.

I started by heating up some onion, okra, & broccoli on the stove top.

I then added this package of TJ’s Indian Fare that had been the pantry a while.

The semi-homemade combination of bulking up a prepackaged meal with veggies allowed me to finally try an item in my pantry while aiding to the mission of emptying my fridge. It was a win-win.

I paired the combination with a little cous cous and raisins.

And a Flat Out Wrap on the side for dipping. ;./

Dessert was a bit of Foodbuzz Festival Swag courtesy of Frog Hollow Farms.

I was a bit worried of the cherry element of these cookies as I am not a fan of dried cherries or cherry flavored things, but these cookies were great. They reminded me of Famous Amos cookies and no cherry flavoring could be detected. :)

Yum!

Now, I need to finish packing, finish putting clothes away, and empt the dishwasher.

Good Night!!

Fresh Eats

by Meghann on November 24, 2009

Have you voted today? ;)

Currently the name of the game is ‘eat as much of the remaining fruits and veggies in my fridge as possible before I leave for Thanksgving.’ I like to think my snack and lunch today have done a pretty good job of achieving that. ;)

First my snack this morning consisted of veggies and hummus.

Veggies = Broccoli & Cucumber.

IMG_9684

Hummus = Jalapeno & Cilantro Hummus from the Publix Deli.

Lunch was a beautiful plate of goodies straight from the fridge. IMG_9691

The star of course was this wrap that was stuffed with what ever looked good in the fridge.

IMG_9694

Fillers included pesto, brie, olives, raisins, and spinach.

I heated it in the George Foreman and it was basically nothing short of amazing. ;)

On the side I had left over Okra fries from yesterday.

Dessert was a fortune cookie that has been staring at me on the counter for weeks now.

After work I need to run to the mall to purchase a white shirt to wear for Thanksgiving. Since the majority of my extended family will be at Thanksgiving Dinner this year (That’s about 50 people!) we are having family portraits done and I have been instructed to wear a white shirt and jeans.

This is much better than the pastel (shudder) and jeans look that was thrown out at one point. Only problem is I don’t know if by white shirt they mean white t-shirt or white button down? I guess it doesn’t matter? I do own a white t-shirt but it has a little stain on my chest that makes it no bueno for photos.

Anyone know of any cheap stores to purchase a plain white shirt?

Gaining Back Speed

November 24, 2009

I am running a half marathon on Sunday…..I keep forgetting that. Maybe its the fact that the race takes place the Sunday after Thanksgiving or the fact that I have been focusing on my marathon training goals, but the race keeps slipping my mind. Which is a shame because I am actually very excited for more »
