Hello San Francisco!!

IMG_5299.JPG

The last half of my plane ride went by in a blink of an eye thanks to my lovely wifi accessibility in the air. I swear I am never flying without wifi ever again! I managed to answer e-mails, catch up on blogs, and take care of other various fun projects. ;)

When hunger hit I munched on the Almond Butter, Pumpkin Butter, and Raisin Sandwich I packed.

I know you are probably getting tired of seeing this combo on the blog, but its a new fave!

And when the drink cart came around for the second time I grabbed a club soda, pretzels and biscotti.

As much fun as I was having playing online on the plane, I was more than ready to get off when we landed.

Heading to baggage claim I felt like such a big shot seeing my name in lights on paper. ;)

Every time I fly some where and I see people waiting and holding names, I always look for mine even though I know no one is suppose to be waiting. It was exciting for it to be a reality this time.

Bertolli really hooked me up with a car service to the hotel, I’m just sad I didn’t take any photos of the ride!

Bertolli also hooked me up with a great hotel room.

Check out my digs!

I really wanted to break in to this. ;)

With the bleak forecast outside I was happy to spot a complimentary umbrella in my room as well.

The umbrella came in handy as I made my way to the marketplace for a quick bite.

I wasn’t sure what I was craving for my second lunch, but as soon as I stepped outside I knew I wanted a nice cup of hot soup. Derek has been going on this past week about having clam chowder so when I passed a seafood eatery I knew i found my place to eat.

I ordered a cup of the white clam chowder

with a side of crusty sourdough bread.

After my soup I was craving chocolate – good thing I stumbled upon a chocolate mecca right next door. ;)

The best part – FREE SAMPLES!!!

Just assume I ‘sampled’ alot of chocolate. ;)

I also found my way into a cute tea room.

I ordered a large winter spice blend tea to help warm myself up.

So far I am in love with San Francisco! I can’t wait to meet everyone else! Its going to be a great weekend – stay tuned for lots of updates the next two days. ;)

On my way to San Fran

by Meghann on November 6, 2009

Happy Friday from 30,000 feet in the air!!

IMG_5246.JPG

I <3 flying AirTran and its onboard WiFi!

IMG_5251.JPG

This is my first experience accessing WiFi on a flight and after only logging in a few minutes ago, I already can’t imagine flying again without it. The $12.95 I spent to connect for my 4+ hour flight is so far worth every penny. ;)

Despite a few delays with taxiing on the runway; my morning of travel has been great!

Flying across the country always throw my body off with meal times, so I made sure to put a lot of thought into meal preparation for the day.

For starters I woke up this morning starving, but wanted to hold off eating my packed breakfast until a more reasonable hour. If I ate my whole breakfast at 5:00am then I would have been ready for lunch at 10:00.

I was able to successfully stall my hunger by nibbling on 1/2 a slice of Cinnamon Raisin Bread before leaving for the airport.

IMG_5232.JPG

Once in the airport I couldn’t resist indulging in a Grande Awake Tea Non-Fat Misto with a single pump of Pumpkin Spice.

IMG_5233.JPG

I’ve seen multiple people ordering mistos on the blogs lately and decided to give it a try. I honestly couldn’t taste the different between the misto and my beloved latte and the misto was a dollar cheaper!

My first flight – Orlando to Atlanta – is where my meal strategy for the day really kicked in. I packed a larger breakfast for the trip, but broke it up in two parts.

The first half was consumed and enjoyed right after take off from Orlando.

Last night I prepped a Pumpkin Breakfast Cookie by combining the following:

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 hefty spoonfuls of canned pumpkin
  • 1 spoonful almond butter
  • raisins
  • crushed walnuts

The cookie firmed up in the fridge overnight and found a home in my carry on this morning.

Once on the flight I topped the cookie with the Pumpkin Pie Yogurt and enjoyed! :)

I ate the second half of my breakfast – a juicy Honeycrisp Apple  – after take off on my second flight.

My flight lands just after noon in San Francisco, so for lunch I plan on implementing the same meal splitting concept. I packed a small lunch to eat at some point during this flight and will grab a large snack when I land in San Francisco.

Hopefully my meal planning skills will keep me from constantly snacking all day and help my stomach adjust to the time change quicker.

I have soooo much work to do blog-wise and I can’t wait to tackle all my to dos. I seriously don’t think I can fly with out access to wifi ever again. I am officially spoiled! :)

One Final Plea…

Today is the last day to get your votes in for Sam-e Good Mood Blogger Gig. Please, please get your final votes in before the clock strikes 12. You never know who is going to pull ahead in the last minute, but as long as I stay in the top 20 I am guaranteed to move on to the next round. Woo hoo!

I could not have done it with out all of your votes. You guys are hands down amazing!

THANK YOU!!
