It was cold out this morning! Well, cold for Florida standards.
With the chill in the air I found it very difficult to talk myself into starting my run in the dark at 6:30am. Instead I stalled for 30 minutes catching up with my Dad and playing with the puppies while waiting for the sun to rise.
While stalling I fueled up for my run with a Pumpkin Surprise Cookie slathered with some Barney Butter for extra protein.

When the sun finally started to peak over the horizon around 7:00am I set out to conquer my 14 mile run.
At first I instantly regretted my choice of running in a tank top and capris, but about a mile in I did begin to warm up. After that all the worrying about the cold weather instantly disappeared. Once again the cooler weather treated my body well and I was able to hold a steady speed and never felt like I was on the brink of death.
Around mile 8 I had a sample packet of Gu Chomps I had picked up at a race expo at one point of another.

Anyone who ever comments or e-mails stating the clif blocks are too sticky for them, I highly recommend giving the gu chomps a shot. They are a little chewier then the clif bloks, but don’t stick to your mouth the same way. They were a great alternative on my run this morning and would actually prefer them in the future over the clif bloks.
The rest of the miles flew by with ease and before I knew it my Garmin was letting me know I was done. Easy peasy.

I immediately started cooking myself breakfast as soon as I walked through the door. I didn’t even take my shoes off first!

This was my first attempt at making eggs in a basket. I cut a hole in a piece of whole wheat bread, then drop an egg in on the skillet.

I also added some jalapeno jack cheese on top. Wow! I can’t believe this was my first time trying it, this was beyond good and tasty. I will definitely be recreating in the future.
My Dad had made bacon earlier in the morning so I stole two piece

And 1/2 a pear

The other half of the pear went in my peach chobani yogurt with a sprinkling of pumpkin seeds on top.

This whole breakfast was very delicious. I loved plates that have a little taste of everything like this one did. My belly is full and happy after my long run.
My Mom and I had no other plans today, so we might catch an early movie this afternoon. We’re thinking Love Happens. Anyone seen it? Is it worth seeing? Let me know!
And because Allison requested it…

Scooby and Maddie have been having a ball this weekend. Can’t wait to see her pass out tonight from all the playing.

That breakfast looks yummy. I’m not a big fan of bacon but the rest sounds really good
Aw, cute puppies!
Aw, how cute! My friend has a dogsitter with three terriers and a boxer, and they leave the poor boxer out all the time! It’s both funny and kinda sad
Glad Maddie is a good doggy cousin!
I just made eggs in a hole for the first time and loved it! So simple, but delish
I’ll have to try the egg white + pumpkin butter combo. I’ve been eating pumpkin with EVERYTHING lately. Last night I made pumpkin mac and cheese!
Maddie looks sooo tiny next to your other dog! haha. That looks like quite the scrumptious breakfast
Hooray for your 14 miles. Here’s my question – what is in your surprise cookie?!?! I like surprises at all other times other than food times.
That pumpkin cookie with barney butter is making my mouth water! Looks sooo good!
congrats on the run. I am totally in love with pumpkin..it’s so good in everything.
Nice job on those 14 miles! Easy peasy – ha, good one, Meghann
I hope to get to that distance some day!
I’ve never tried making eggs in a basket before, but it looks so good! I may need to have breakfast for dinner tonight after reading your post.
Have a fun Sunday!
good job on the run! great yummy breaky!
jenna
Awesome run!
I’ve never made eggs in a hole before, but they look yummy. I can’t eat undercooked/raw egg at all, it all needs to be cooked the whole way through, but I may try this with some over hard eggs
“never felt like I was on the brink of death” – that is always the hallmark of a good run
enjoy Sunday!!
What an awesome run!
Whenever I get home from anywhere hungry I go right in and crack out the food too. Shoes on, jacket on, whatever. Food first! The eggs in a basket look deeelish.
I love bacon so much!

Nice job on the run!
I love “toad in the hole” (that’s what I call it).
Yummy breakfast!! And sounds like you had an awesome run
It’s always hard to get out in cold temperatures than hot, but at least with the cold you don’t over heat. I’m gonna have a hellish time running in summer
wow! Way to rock that run! That is just awesome Meghann!!!!!! Love the pic of the puppers
Allison will love that picture of the pups!
Great run!
I need to try that egg in a basket. I keep thinking about it, but then buying egg beaters, which I guess won’t work. Or will they?
Omg I bet eggs and pepperjack is so delicious! Must try that combo soon!
YAY!!!! You are the best – you know I’m a sucker for those pupper faces!
Gu Chomps are one of my favorites – Carb Boom is the best – they taste like actual fruit snacks, not sticky at all!
Nice job on the run lady!
I hope you ate the hole out of the bread. That was always my favorite part. Congrats on your AWESOME run!!!
I’m glad the run went well! I can’t believe you referred to 14 miles as easy peasy, but hey, that’s awesome for you:) Your breakfast looks delicious. Let us know what you think of the movie.
Just saw the props to your blog in the latest issue of SELF! Congrats!
Great run girl! That breakfast looks delish!
Eggs in a basket has been a really popular blog breakfast this week, aye?
yeahh for 14 miles
I have never tried the egg in the bread thing. Seems delicious!! love that you added some cheese.
Egg windows!
My mum used to make those for us all the time when I was little. The cut-out circle of bread was always our favourite bit, though, when it got all crispy in the pan. Sometimes there’s really no substitute for what a bit of butter can do!
Eggs and cheese always good for breakfast.
I did 15 today…let’s pretend we ran it together.
