Snuggies for Dogs?

by Meghann on October 15, 2009

I couldn’t help, but let out a little chuckle when I saw the following display at PetSmart this evening.

Snuggies for dogs? You’ve got to be kidding me.

Does anyone own a human sized snuggie? If not I have a little secret for you… put your robe on backwards and voila – instant snuggie. ;)

Beside watching the Adventures of Balloon Boy this afternoon, the rest of my day was pretty dull and involved a lot of data pulling. Yawn.

At one point I did try this new (to me) bar that Mariani sent me.

This was very sweet and very sticky. I actually had to cut half the wrapper off so it would pull away.

Still it was tasty and if offered I would happily eat it again. :)

Dinner had to be quick so I wouldn’t be late to puppy training class this evening.

Enter Kashi Frozen Pizza.

IMG_3643.JPG

As always I jazzed up the frozen pizza with some left over shrimp.

Much better!

I had been meaning to try the Caribbean Carnival Kashi Pizza for a while. The mix of non-traditional pizza toppings certainly caught my eye. The overall flavor was sweet, but savory. My addition of the shrimp blended so well, I would have assumed they were originally suppose to be there. My only gripe was the lack of plantains on Kashi’s part.

Dear Kashi,

If you are reading this please add more plantains to your Caribbean Carnival pizza.

Thanks

With my half of the pizza I made a small salad.

Toppings included:

  • Spinach
  • Sauerkraut
  • Olives
  • Tomato
  • Broccoli

Puppy class went really well tonight. Maddie is back to her happy-go-lucky self and passed all her training tests with flying colors.

In fact she did so well I bought her a new toy.

IMG_3660.JPG

She hated it. Obviously.

I couldn’t think of anything else, but the Pumpkin Ice Cream waiting for me when I returned home.

With the addition of crushed Chocolate Teddy Grahams it was worth the wait. :)

Florida Bag Ban..

Florida legislation is trying to pass a new law that would put a ban on disposable paper and plastic bags after a 5 year phase out in the state of Florida.

If passed this would be the first statewide legislation of its kind. The 5 year phase out would require a fee on all disposable bags starting with 5 cents per bag and raising another 5 cents each year after that. The intended fee should encourage patrons to purchase reusable bags and get used to bringing them on their own.

The ban would also have a profound impact on saving the environment by eliminating the unwanted waste of the bags and the process of manufacturing them.

Personally, I am a firm believer in bringing reusable bags each time I visit the grocery store. This ban would have no effect on me. Well, except for the rare occasion that I am caught with out my reusable bags.

I hate wasting so many plastic bags. Ultimately they serve their function of taking my groceries from point A to Point B and then go to the trash. From the trash they can end up in turtle bellies or other harmful places. Reusable bags are A-OK in my books.

However, this ban does intrigue me and I’m interested to see how the state reacts as it becomes closer and closer to taking effect. When it comes down to it the ban is ultimately taking away someone’s choice to use plastic bags and as Americans we hate having our choices taken from us even if they are the bad ones.

What is your take on this ban? How do you think others will react?

BBQ Tuna

by Meghann on October 15, 2009

Does anyone else watch 18 Kids and Counting? Well I guess soon it will be 19 Kids and Counting and if we are being politically correct it should be Almost 19 Kids, 1 Grand Kid and 1 Daughter in Law and Counting. ;)

What can I say? I am a sucker for the reality shows that follow families around on TLC.

Anyways I was watching Tuesday night’s episode and the Duggar Dad made his ‘famous’ BBQ Tuna Sandwiches. Some people would watch this and make a face in disgust, I watch it and think ‘Hey! What a great idea!’

The recipe he gave was pretty simple – add bbq sauce to a can of tuna and enjoy! Mine was a little more complicated then that.

IMG_3631

My mix included

  • 1 can of Tuna
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Banana Peppers
  • Jalapenos

And was served on an Arnold’s Thin with Spinach & Tomato

Verdict? Not bad. Of course, i think if you add BBQ sauce to anything its going to be great. This was a nice change, but I prefer my plain yogurt mix with tuna instead.

With the sandwich I was feeling some soup today.

I had a 1 cup serving of the Butternut Squash soup on the side with a few raisins sprinkled in to jazz it up a bit.

Mid-morning I had the last of some a mixed bag of Oh Nuts! Left over from the Healthy Living Summit.

Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (HAPPY) Act

This new bill proposes up to $3500 in deductions on federal taxes for pet owners on each qualified pet. Pretty cool, right?

You can read more on the bill here. I’m crossing my fingers this baby passes!

Half Ironman?

Healthy Ashley signed up for the Florida Half Ironman today. Am I crazy to be toying around the idea of registering myself?!?!

I would register right now if the fee wasn’t $$$. This race is on my radar though and thinking about completing it brings a smile to my face and butterflies to my stomach.

Attention Orlando Readers!

Grab your credit card and head over to Florida Mall or Seminole Town Center now!

It’s official! H&M has arrived in Orlando and opened its doors today!!

Wooo hooo!!!

Speed Intervals

October 15, 2009

Maddie was a real trooper during the night. She didn’t have any accidents and only woke me up to go out once at her usual time. I spoke with the vet this morning and he told me to monitor her the rest of the day. If she continues to urinate frequently or has an accident more »
