Montana Whoppers

by Meghann on September 15, 2009

Why hello beautiful

IMG_1901.JPG

I think I have discovered the recipe for the best cookies EVER.

IMG_1903.JPG

Peanut Butter, M&Ms, Dark Chocolate Chips, Oatmeal, Sugar, Butter…. How can you go wrong?!?! :)

IMG_1902.JPG

I was randomly inspired this afternoon to make a big batch of cookies while fighting my sweet tooth at work. After browsing through some of my saved recipes I rediscovered this recipe for Montana Whoppers that I originally stumbled upon on Megan’s Munchies blog.

IMG_1890.JPG

The recipe was very easy to follow and made a HUGE batch of cookies.

IMG_1891.JPG

I picked at the dough while I was baking and made sure to select the largest cookie from the first batch fresh out of the oven.

IMG_1892.JPG

YUM! These babies are rich so one cookie was perfect. :)

IMG_1909.JPG

Of course the cookies weren’t the only project keeping me in the kitchen this evening. My fabulous dinner made its way out of the oven at one point as well.

IMG_1877.JPG

This was a wonderful fall chicken dish that was so simple to make.

To piece this meal together I simply dipped a chicken breast in egg whites then coated it in almond meal. I slit an opening in the breast then stuffed it with Cranberry Chutney and Feta Cheese before baking it at 375 for 25 minutes.

IMG_1888.JPG

The cranberry/ chicken/ feta combo was fabulous and reminded me of Thanksgiving! You know I heard on the radio this afternoon that today marks 100 days until Christmas!! :)

IMG_1882.JPG

While the chicken was baking I placed a corn in the cob – still wrapped in its husk – in the oven as well. I can’t stand eating corn actually on the cob so I shaved it off with a knife.

IMG_1884.JPG

I also over steamed some brocolli that was really mushy.

IMG_1885.JPG

This afternoon I snacked on this sample of seeds from Oh Nuts. I couldn’t tell if there were Pepitas or Sunflower Seeds.

IMG_1874.JPG

Can anyone tell?

IMG_1875.JPG

Ok, now I have to figure out what to do with over 4 dozen cookies!!! I’m thinking tomorrow might be a good day to make friends with my co-workers. ;)

Good Night!!

I’ll take some cookies! :) I was thinking about the tomato/flax/nut butter sauce you made the other day and realized that it is really a simplified version of the Catalan Romesco sauce… Nice!

That dough looks VERY dangerous… I think I would probably have eaten a few cookies worth by now of dough.

These looks like ‘Monster Cookie’s’ that we have at a cookie shop in the skyway in Minneapolis. They are SO GOOD!

Your dinner looks delish. The feta and cranberry sound like a great pair :)

Have a wonderful evening!

I’m so thrilled to read that you tried to Montana Whoppers recipe that I shared with Megan from Megan’s Munchies as a guest post. Those cookies are a recent addition to my “favorite cookies” list!

After a quick read on another post, I see that you’re training for a marathon! I’m in the middle of my training for the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November, so I can commiserate. GOOD LUCK!

I hope you and your readers keep checking back with ‘Taste As You Go’ for some more tasty recipes. :)

Wow, those cookies look awesome!! You’ve inspired me to make some very soon. I have a massive sweet tooth!

The chicken you made looks wonderful as well. I think I might give this a try too. I’m getting bored with my normal chicken breast seasoning which is why I don’t think I’ve been inspired to eat chicken lately.

Everything about your dinner/dessert looked delicious :)

Those are pepitas. Pepitas are green; sunflower seeds are usually greyish. Pepitas are more oval-shaped, while sunflower seed have one flat, broad end, and one pointy end. Hope that helps!
