Go Red BetterU

by Meghann on August 24, 2009

Well, Hello Monday!

My morning has been busy, but I’m surviving!

One thing that is definitely still ticking along is my hunger!

I broke for a snack of Apricots around 10:30, but they did little to stop the hungry beast that was my stomach.

IMG_0669

When it was time for lunch I originally had plans to piece together something fun and creative, but all I wanted to do was eat, so left over pizza it was!

IMG_0677

Last night’s pizza was still just as yummy as the night before. I’m telling you those beets are key!

IMG_0676

I ate about 3/4 of this and shared with Maddie.

On the side I had the last of my Massaged Kale Salad.

Go Red BetterU….

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a big advocate for spreading the word of good health to just about anyone who is willing to listen – hence the reason for my blog.

I believe that women especially should understand that eating right and staying fit are healthy habits that are not only good for the waist line, but your health as a whole. This fact in particular is what keeps me doing what I do. 🙂

The heart especially needs a little tender love and care. Which is why the The American Heart Association created the Go Red Better U program.

Go Red BetterU is a free, online makeover program that gives women the choice to achieve a noticeably better state of well-being and heart health in just 12 weeks.

The program also features the Go Red BetterMe Coaching Tool — a Widget to keep women on track to meet their health goals. The tool includes daily reminders and tips, interactive videos from “women like me,” and links to a journal and goals.

In honor of kicking off the Go Red BetterU program The American Heart Association has asked me to give away 5 BetterU, Better Me Kits to 5 lucky commentors.

 BetterU,_BetterMe_Kit_Photo

The BetterU, BetterMe Kit has everything you need to start the BetterU program, including:

  • Super-cute tote bag for the gym
  • BPA-free water bottle
  • Go Red Grocery Guide to help you made heart-healthy choices at the store
  • Go Red yoga mat
  • Their signature red dress pin
  • Heart-healthy snack, Craisins

BetterU, BetterMe Kit has a retail value of more than $50.

To enter simply leave a comment with a simple thing you do everyday to improve your heart health.

For instance instead of stopping at my mailbox on the way into my apartment complex after work. I drive to my apartment in the back of the complex then walk to the loop to the front to get my mail. It’s an extra .25 mile walk I can easily squeeze into my day. 🙂

1 Kate August 24, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Ooh ooh! Awesome giveaway.

I start most days with oats (great for heart health), and also “take the long way” to work, which squeezes in an extra 20 minute walk to and from my office… that’s almost 2 miles I’ve done by the time I get home on top of my normal daily activities/workout.

2 Kelly August 24, 2009 at 1:21 pm

I start my day with a run 5 days a week. 🙂 and I walk my dog every day….PS. Your pizza looks yummy!

3 TorontoGirloutWest August 24, 2009 at 1:26 pm

I make sure to take some quiet time to pray each day. That quiet time helps me to gather my thoughts, be grateful for what I have, and de-stress. I figure anything I can do to be a healthier/happier me is a good thing!

4 Whit August 24, 2009 at 1:28 pm

I make sure to eat breakfast every morning. Plus I try to fit in cardio at least 5 days a week.

My yoga mat smells like feet, so I could use a new one. Not that I am trying to influence the competition or anything.

5 Lauren @ Team Giles August 24, 2009 at 1:28 pm

Left over pizza is always the best!

What a neat giveaway. I am a huge Green Tea drinker and I not only drink it because it tastes good, but because its super healthy for you too.
I also make sure I get some form of exercise in each day, even if its 10-15 minutes, something is better than nothing and more is better than less. 🙂

6 Sarah August 24, 2009 at 1:28 pm

I use the stairs at work instead of the elevator.

7 kristin August 24, 2009 at 1:29 pm

i exercise and read your blog for healthy meal ideas to stay healthy 🙂

8 Katie August 24, 2009 at 1:29 pm

I walk to work…less than five minutes so why would I drive??

9 runeatrepeat August 24, 2009 at 1:29 pm

I try to take the stairs whenever I can.

10 Beth August 24, 2009 at 1:30 pm

I make sure to eat a piece of fruit with breakfast (almost always a banana) and lunch (apple, strawberries, peach, or orange). Fruit is healthy and tastes good too! Exercise is also a must in my life. It gives my busy mind a break from reality!

11 Megan August 24, 2009 at 1:30 pm

I commute into NYC from NJ so therefore I have to get up extra early so I don’t have times in the mornings for a workout.. so I wake up an extra 20 minutes early in the mornings and after I get into the city I walk to work rather than take the subway like I do home.. I mean it is only a mile but I am sure that extra mile helps esp on days when I don’t get in a run 🙂

12 monica August 24, 2009 at 1:31 pm

I recently graduated college, but when I was still in school, I had to drive to campus so I would park on the opposite side of campus, walk to classes, walk to the gym, and then walk back to my car on the other side of campus. i easily walked an extra two miles every day!

GREAT GIVEAWAY THANKS!

13 Jesse August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I eat a piece of dark chocolate. Wait, that is good for your heart right??

Well, that and I run/ walk/ exercise whenever possible!

14 Allie B. August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I take the stairs every morning. Instead of waiting for the elevator, I trek up the 6 flights of stairs to my office! You can definitely feel it in your heart at the top!

15 Meg August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

Exercise of some form daily, and not worrying about getting the absolute CLOSEST parking spot where ever I go, because walking the distance is healthier for you, anyway 🙂

I also enjoy fresh fruits & veggies more than anything else I eat.

Have a great Monday – hope things slow down a bit!
Meg

16 Laurie August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

It would be super easy for me to take the shuttle around my college campus (Located in Houston, TX), but instead I walk to and from classes. This might not seem like a big deal, but the heat index is 103 right now. A nice air conditioned bus would be helpful to my hair, but a nice sweaty walk is good for my heart!

17 Amelia August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I eat lots of oatmeal, try to get in 4-5 sweaty cardio sessions each week & take my chocolate lab for walks everyday– good for the both of us 🙂

18 Kate August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I love Go Red! I walk from the train to my office everyday instead of taking the bus. It’s about an extra .5 miles! It makes a difference and it is a nice way to get some Vitamin D, at least most days! 🙂

19 kb August 24, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I live in a 4th floor walkup so the stairs are my friend! I also take the stairs at work instead of using the elevator.

20 Katie August 24, 2009 at 1:33 pm

I take the stairs in my building and at work!

21 Suzanne August 24, 2009 at 1:33 pm

I just moved, but at my old house I would walk the 20 min to the subway instead of driving and parking there!

22 Laura August 24, 2009 at 1:34 pm

I take the stairs whenever possible!!

23 Tay August 24, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Meghann, i do the same thing with my mail box! I also try and squeeze in multiple quick ab sessions during the day- during commercials, while cooking dinner, etc. It adds up to a full ab workout!

24 Luna August 24, 2009 at 1:34 pm

nice giveaway! I recently decided I needed to be more active and eat better – yours & other blogs really pushed me to do this change!!So i started running every morning for 5 km, i am slooooow (37 min) but i have hope 🙂 I also enjoy yoga and switched to tea instead of coffee 😀

25 Christine August 24, 2009 at 1:35 pm

Every day I choose not to smoke! (I quit 16 months ago.)

26 Karissa August 24, 2009 at 1:36 pm

I am in law school right now, so all of my classes are in one building. To make up for walking around I take the stairs to every class. Those classes on the 5th floor and up really get my heart pumping!

27 dailygoods August 24, 2009 at 1:36 pm

my daily morning oatmeal 🙂 heart healthy AND delicious!

28 Jessica August 24, 2009 at 1:37 pm

29 Heather August 24, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I park further away in my office parking lot then I need too – the extra walk each day helps me clear my head!

30 Krista August 24, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I live in an apartment building and the garage is off the basement and I live on the fourth floor. I try to never take the elevator, I love to choose the stairs for a little boost of my heart rate 🙂

31 Kathryn August 24, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I try to walk my dog 2 miles every day, even if its raining 🙂

32 Emily Elizabeth August 24, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Thanks for the chance to win! I try to run 3 to four times a week for heart health! And daily I walk my big blue dog for his and my heart health 🙂

33 Kelley August 24, 2009 at 1:39 pm

I try to use the stairs whenever I can. I use them in my parking garage every morning (8 floors) and wish I could use them to get my office but walking up 60 floors is a little much! I also wake up 5-6 days a week to work out. I love my morning workouts!

34 Julia August 24, 2009 at 1:39 pm

I get off the bus six blocks earlier than necessary so that I can fit in a brisk 15 minute walk before and after work. I also take the stairs no matter what, wherever I am, and I try to walk over to the desks of coworkers to ask questions rather than emailing!

35 Justy2003 August 24, 2009 at 1:39 pm

I make sure to get in a workout every day. I also bike to school instead of driving and try to walk/bike places when I can.

36 Lindsay @ bananaandchocolate August 24, 2009 at 1:40 pm

Great giveaway. I don’t park right next to wherever I’m going throughout the day. A little bit of extra walking throughout the day really does add up.

I eat a LOT of oatmeal! And other whole grains 🙂 And walk lots!

38 Stephanie August 24, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I make smart, healthy eating decisions 90% of the time! I just can’t stop eating Ice Cream sometimes! 😉

39 Dana August 24, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I work on a college campus and I go fill out my water bottles at a building a few minutes walk away most afternoons!

40 Movingonup! August 24, 2009 at 1:42 pm

I challenge myself to a long run on the weekends!

41 Sarah August 24, 2009 at 1:42 pm

Unfortunately heart issues run in my family…so I make sure to take extra care of my ticker. I like to clean (eeekk, haha!) so I make a loop around the house everyday to get a bit of extra cardio on top of my other workouts.

42 Kristen August 24, 2009 at 1:42 pm

I always make sure to eat a scoop of flax with my breakfast and get in a serving of oats (raw granola bars or museli) each day. Great giveaway Meghann!

I make sure to get a minimum of 35 minutes of activity a day – no matter where it comes from. If I have to, I park across the street from the store I’m going to, or at school I purposely park far(ther) so that I have time to clear my head with a walk before class. Every bit counts.

48 HelpMeghanRun August 24, 2009 at 1:46 pm

I *always* take the stairs, eat lots of whole grains, and love fish! 🙂

49 Betsy S. August 24, 2009 at 1:46 pm

55 ADRIANA August 24, 2009 at 1:50 pm

EVEN THOUGH I WORK OUT 6-7 TIMES A WEEK FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR, I STILL TRY TO WALK AS MUCH AS I CAN. IF I NEED MILK, I WALK TO THE GROCERY STORE, NEED STAMPS I GO TO THE PIOST OFFICE, LIBRARY, YOU NAME IT. 56 insideiamdancing August 24, 2009 at 1:50 pm

I eat oats. And chocolate 😀

57 Leianna August 24, 2009 at 1:51 pm

Besides being a runner, I think my nutrition is even more important, choosing lots of colors every day and chicken or fish over red meat!

58 Meghan August 24, 2009 at 1:51 pm

I take a minute to enjoy the beauty of nature…sounds silly, but it’s a great way to take a deep breath from the stress of life!

59 Brandi August 24, 2009 at 1:53 pm

how awesome! I am a big supporter of the AHA and GoRed, especially after my mom had a heart attack a little over a year ago.

I try to get as much activity in each day, whether that’s running, yoga, walking, or just getting up from my desk more often PLUS eating healthy and balanced with lots of whole grains, fruits and veggies.

60 ~carolyn~ August 24, 2009 at 1:53 pm

Exercise and I put flax seed in my cereal or smoothie and I just bought some chia seeds to try those out…all those Omegas are great for the heart!

61 Lizzy August 24, 2009 at 1:53 pm

I’d love to win one of those! I try to use stairs whenever I can and eat lots of whole grains and fiber everyday!

64 Erica August 24, 2009 at 1:55 pm

I try to get cardio into every single day. Whether it is a run (usually!) or just a leisurely walk with my hubby, it all counts and is GREAT for your heart!

I am on a heart-healthy mission since being diagnosed with breast cancer almost a year ago and some the chemo and such that I had to take had a risk of heart muscle damage. So cardio and “working that heart muscle” have become very important and life-saving for me. If my heart function had decreased, it could have meant stopping the treatment that was saving my life. Impressively, after echos that have been done intermittently during treatment, we have found that my heart actually GOT STRONGER over the last 11 months!! I thank God and the strength He has given me to keep running and staying active to make my heart stronger!

65 chocolate pickle August 24, 2009 at 1:55 pm

I take the stairs in my office building and eat oats almost daily!

66 Kristine August 24, 2009 at 1:55 pm

Every morning I make sure to eat a big, healthy breakfast that usually contains oats! I also try to keep as active as possible.

67 Kwan August 24, 2009 at 1:55 pm

I eat my bowl of oats each morning with healthy additions like flax, nuts and blueberries. Also I make sure to bring healthy snacks to work (hummus, carrots etc.) so I will be less likely to snack on the junk always lying around in the office. Go Red!

68 Rachel D August 24, 2009 at 1:56 pm

I definitely walk my dog several times a day, and that’s good for both our hearts! I’m also a runner- I know my addiction to running keeps my heart strong.

69 BethP August 24, 2009 at 1:56 pm

I walk to a subway stop that’s farther from my house for about a mile-long walk every morning.

70 broccolihut August 24, 2009 at 1:56 pm

I make sure to exercise 6X a week and eat mostly unsaturated (as opposed to saturated) fats.
Beets on a pizza sounds amazing!

71 Cindy August 24, 2009 at 1:56 pm

My dad just had heart surgery so heart health is definitely on my mind. As long as it’s not freezing (which is quite often in Chicago) I walk home from the gym. It adds an extra 1.5 miles onto my workout

72 Erica August 24, 2009 at 1:57 pm

Yummy lunch! Love that you shared with the puppers! I do some form of exercise pretty much every day, as well as eat lots of fruit + veggies. Ow- I hope I win!!!!

73 Katie August 24, 2009 at 1:57 pm

I LOVE this giveaway!!! I go to a school that is located within a highrise building. Most of my classes are on the 3rd or 5th floors so I make a point to use the stairs to go up and down to each of them. I have found it is usually faster than standing and waiting for the elevator as well as gives me an added healthy heart bonus!

74 Angela August 24, 2009 at 1:58 pm

I pack my lunch instead of eating out since I pack healthier options than eating out, plus I save money!

75 Andrea S August 24, 2009 at 1:58 pm

I always park far from stores and make regular trips to the gym

76 Britt August 24, 2009 at 1:59 pm

I exercise 6 days per week, but also walk a lot… I walk my dog, I walk downtown, I walk to the library, I walk to my in-laws house, etc. Its good for me and saves on gas!

77 Leah August 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Have a bowl of oatmeal for the heart healthy fiber!

78 Julie August 24, 2009 at 2:01 pm

I walk to all of my classes, the grocery store, the library, etc. (usually 3-5 miles/day). I’m also going to start biking to my Pilates class instead of driving.

And on Saturdays, I jog 2.5 miles to the Farmer’s Market to get some healthy, fresh produce! 🙂

79 elliebelle August 24, 2009 at 2:01 pm

I have a good breakfast and Amazing Grass Green Superfood everyday to help me be healthy. 🙂

80 Keri August 24, 2009 at 2:01 pm

Although I take a shuttle to work every morning, I walk home every day to get in the extra 1.25 miles. It adds on to whatever workout (yoga, running) I do that day and helps me de-stress after a long day, which is also good for my heart!

81 lilveggiepatch August 24, 2009 at 2:02 pm

I always make sure to eat enough fruits and veggies for fiber, and do at least SOME kind of exercise every day, be it hours at the gym, yoga, or a walk.

82 inmytummy August 24, 2009 at 2:02 pm

I run.

83 Ada August 24, 2009 at 2:02 pm

A simple thing I do is take the stairs rather than the elevator, every day:)

84 jewels August 24, 2009 at 2:03 pm

i get my heart rate up 🙂

85 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) August 24, 2009 at 2:04 pm

I eat whole grains such as oats, whole wheat bread, and Ezekiel wraps. I also do cardio workouts throughout the week including running, walking, elliptically, and taking the stairs.

86 Kirsten August 24, 2009 at 2:04 pm

I do something active everyday…run, eliptical, pilates, ect. Plus I am training for a marathon, so that means lots of healthy food! =)

87 Tammy Eros August 24, 2009 at 2:05 pm

I take fish Oil and try to get my Omega’s in somehow in my diet…I also do some kind of cardio almost everyday!

88 trinichiqn August 24, 2009 at 2:05 pm

I recently started yoga (in my second week) and I don’t have a yoga mat so this would be great since I really like it and plan to stick with it.

The simple thing I do everyday to improve my heart health is take the stairs. I try my best to avoid the elevator whereever I go by taking the stairs instead. I also recently bought a larger water bottle to encourage myself to drink more water daily.

89 Denise August 24, 2009 at 2:07 pm

I am joining the Y today!! WOOHOO! I have cut most meat from my diet. Have Chicken or fish occasionally… I eat TONS of veggies and fruit and only drink water

91 Emily @ My Chubby Confessions August 24, 2009 at 2:10 pm

I’ve began eating more fruits and veggies instead of fries and a shake. I also make it a point to walk my dog as often as I can.

92 Liz August 24, 2009 at 2:10 pm

I have stopped buying monthy public transit passes over the summer months and instead taken up biking to work, as well as everywhere else. It saves money too!

93 Amy August 24, 2009 at 2:11 pm

I try to ride my bike as much as humanly possible. It’s my favorite heart pumping exercise!

94 Susan August 24, 2009 at 2:12 pm

I call my mom just to tell her I love her – it does the heart good!!

95 Katie August 24, 2009 at 2:12 pm

On top of regular workouts, I add little thing in: printing to the printer upstairs while at work to get in extra stairs, riding my bike rather than driving when the weather is nice, etc. And especially – I try to avoid office candy & treats! That’s the tough one! 🙂

96 Jess August 24, 2009 at 2:14 pm

I drink tons and tons of water every day to make sure I’m not eating out of thirst instead of actual hunger!

97 jentrinque August 24, 2009 at 2:15 pm

I always take the stairs instead of the elevator, plus I eat tons of fruits and veggies every day!

98 Kristen August 24, 2009 at 2:15 pm

Every day I take the stairs at work. I’ve been working in this building for over a year and have yet to step foot in the elevator!

99 Traci August 24, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Something super easy; I try to never take the elevator in the buiding where I work and the building that I live. I’m up and down MANY times a day so it adds a little bit of movement.

100 Lauren August 24, 2009 at 2:17 pm

I always take the stairs in stead of the elevator. Anywhere I go-and it doesn’t matter how many flights of stairs. I also try to park far away from wherever I am go so I have a longer walk. Its the little things that add up. This looks like a great give-a-way!
http://www.laurensgourmet.wordpress.com

101 Mary August 24, 2009 at 2:19 pm

Great give away!
I run and strength train at least 5 days a week. I also take ‘walk breaks’ through out the day to get outside for fresh air.

102 Courtney August 24, 2009 at 2:20 pm

At work I take the stairs instead of the elevator. I also just started to incorporate a little yoga in my life.

103 BeccaC August 24, 2009 at 2:21 pm

I always make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day and I have recently started doing some yoga/stretching in the morning (usually still in my pj’s!).

104 Alice August 24, 2009 at 2:21 pm

I always start my day with yogurt, fruit and fiber-rich cereal. Not to mention usually taking the subway to a few stops before mine to guarantee that I always get in at least 30 min of walking a day

105 sonia August 24, 2009 at 2:21 pm

i stay healthy by taking the stairs everywhere i go, no matter how high it may be.

106 whitneyinchicago August 24, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Constantly drink water instead of sodas and such.

And working out 4-5 times a week

107 heatherfeather August 24, 2009 at 2:23 pm

i work on the 8th floor of my building, and although I don’t make the trek UP (i may be a little tooo sweaty!), i skip the elevators on the way down at 5

108 TanyaS August 24, 2009 at 2:26 pm

I do the walk back for the mail thing too. I have also turned in all soda for water and can’t even remember the last time I had a sugary cereal.

109 Jenn August 24, 2009 at 2:27 pm

I walk as much as possible. I walk to someone’s office at work rather than email and park further away from stores. It also helps having a one year old husky who is a spitfire in need of lots of exercise.
Awesome blog, thank you for sharing!

110 Korrie August 24, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Wow, this Better U, Better Me kit is adorable!

1 thing I do every day is park at the back of my parking lot at work. This helps me get in a little extra walking and also forces me to be better with time management because I have to factor the walking in!

111 Jeri August 24, 2009 at 2:30 pm

I do one thing for “me” everyday. Whether it’s some time on the yoga mat, a run to clear my head, or curling up with a book. A happy body is a healthy body.

112 Megan August 24, 2009 at 2:32 pm

I mix up my work outs, eat lots of veggies, and of course get my antioxidants w/ red wine and dark chocolate 😉

113 Meredith August 24, 2009 at 2:33 pm

I walk to and from my job everyday! It saves money and gas and is sometimes the only time I see the light of day since I am inside a hospital 15 hours a day!

And its good for the heart 🙂

114 Danielle August 24, 2009 at 2:33 pm

I’m at college and have to park in a parking deck. Instead of taking the elevator like every other college student. I take the stairs. This may or may not be due to the fact that I’m horribly afraid of elevators. Although, I live a very healthy lifestyle, but I’m a broke college student who loves yoga and doesn’t have a mat, I bum one off a friend when I attend the yoga classes!

115 Kristie Lynn August 24, 2009 at 2:34 pm

What a cool giveaway. I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex so I always walk up and down the stairs instead of taking the elevator.

116 Holly M. August 24, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Hmm if I could pick one thing it would be playing with my 2 dogs. They make me so happy when I walk in the door from a stressful day at work and they give me a bajillion puppy kisses!

117 homecookedem August 24, 2009 at 2:36 pm

I start every day off with tall glass of water. It sets the stage for a healthy day!

118 seesarahrun August 24, 2009 at 2:37 pm

If I need to make phone calls to catch up with people, I grab my cell phone and walk around my neighborhood while talking. It is amazing how quickly you can finish an hour of walking when you are on the phone and it is better than sitting on your couch for that hour!

119 Nikita August 24, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Awesome giveaway! I start my day with green tea and I try and be active everyday- I usually get a workout in every morning, be it going to the gym or walking to/ back from work. 🙂

120 Kim August 24, 2009 at 2:39 pm

i run on my treadmill 5 days a week before my kids wake up and then after we eat we head out for a walk- I tell them its a nature walk-2 kids in the double jogger and my 6 year old walking. I want them to grow up knowing the importance of fresh air and exercise

121 Melissa August 24, 2009 at 2:40 pm

To squeeze in extra exercise time, I eat lunch at my desk at work and walk around downtown during my hour break.

122 Caroline August 24, 2009 at 2:43 pm

I take the stairs no matter how many flights! My friends take the elevator for one flight, yes, one.

I hope I win!

123 Laura August 24, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I take the stairs to my classes on the 4th and 5th floors!

124 emily August 24, 2009 at 2:45 pm

Since I don’t currently do any actual exercise (whoops!) I actually try to do lots of little things for heart health. Like walking everywhere I don’t absolutely have to drive, and taking the stairs whenever possible. Whenever my husband takes an escalator I run up the stairs to race him!

125 Aimee August 24, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Fluid retention is a huge problem for people with heart disease so daily salt intake must be closely watched. I rinse off my canned beans to reduce the sodium in my meal.

126 Becca August 24, 2009 at 2:47 pm

I take 20 minutes of my hour lunch break to walk after I eat. It helps with something to do and gets in more walking.

127 Mallory August 24, 2009 at 2:48 pm

I try to take the stairs whenever I can at work and I also teach yoga 2 times a week! Normally about 5-6 women show up to this studio, but they all try soooooo hard and I can tell they feel better after. I love teaching yoga because I can help myself while helping others get a good workout in. I would love to sport a GO RED mat to my classes!

128 Chocolate Shoestrings August 24, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Cardio to keep my heart healthy! And salmon when I can afford it. Cool giveaway!

129 crystal August 24, 2009 at 2:51 pm

I start my day by eating oatmeal. I add ground flax seed to many of my meals and I take red yeast rice suppelments.

132 themisadventuresofk August 24, 2009 at 2:59 pm

I ride my bike to school every day – the 8 miles of riding on top of whatever other activities I have planned for the day is awesome. Well, except when I am exhausted after a workout and have to go uphill on the way home.

I’m going to take a yoga class in the fall and don’t have a mat so it would be awesome to win one 🙂

133 AnAppleADay August 24, 2009 at 3:01 pm

i start my day with yoga and some stretching. Then hearty breakfast of oats! or green monster!

134 Alyssa August 24, 2009 at 3:01 pm

I walk to the laudromat down the street from me with all my laudry in tact, rather than driving there. This gives me a nice cardio burst; that laudry can sure get heavy.

135 Keri August 24, 2009 at 3:02 pm

Instead of switching subways to get closer to work, I just get off and walk the 2 miles round trip! I also have been taking walks at lunchtime

136 Amanda August 24, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I live in the city so after work I park my car then walk everywhere when I run my errands. I also walk the stairs at work, even in my heels!

137 sam August 24, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I take the stairs up and down at work during the day instead of using the elevator. I work on the third floor, but just had a meeting on the fifth floor 🙂

141 Amy August 24, 2009 at 3:06 pm

I walk 1.7 miles to and from work, in addition to my almost daily runs.
I went car-less 3 months ago, and it’s wonderful!

142 Christy August 24, 2009 at 3:07 pm

I exercise 7 days a week, even if it’s just a hike in the hills with my husband and not a formal gym workout.

143 SarahF August 24, 2009 at 3:07 pm

I have to take two buses to get to work so my heart healthy habit is I leave a little bit earlier and I walk the 13 blocks (each way) to where I catch my “Second” bus. It adds about a total of 40 minutes of walking to my day, everyday (and helps wake me up so I drink less coffee)

144 Stephanie August 24, 2009 at 3:07 pm

I walk to/fro work each day (2 miles, roundtrip) and I eat my overnight oats every day (mine are equal parts oats and nonfat milk with a tablespoon of golden raisins and a dash of cinnamon – YUMMY!!!). Go red!

148 ali p. August 24, 2009 at 3:13 pm

lots of fruits and veggies… a positive attitude…

149 Carrie H August 24, 2009 at 3:14 pm

I exercise and try to eat a pretty healthy, balanced diet, but one thing that is SO HARD for me to remember is to take a vitamin … (I’ve been told I am pre-osteopenia and really need the calcium and D) …But I’ve remembered for the past several weeks! Yay!

150 Steph August 24, 2009 at 3:15 pm

What a great giveaway. I’m a big supporter of the AHA. I park as far as I can to get some extra walking in when I go to any stores. I also drink tons of water instead of soda and eat lots of fruits & veggies.

155 L.A. Daze August 24, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Take a yoga class twice a week.

157 Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) August 24, 2009 at 3:23 pm

I work at a college campus and I park a little over a mile away from my building (on the days I drive) to get in a nice walk on the way to work — it’s good for both body and mind 🙂

158 Emily (Healthy Fit Mama) August 24, 2009 at 3:23 pm

Every morning for breakfast I have oats with flax and nuts – all heart-healthy! I also make sure to include at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

159 allie August 24, 2009 at 3:25 pm

160 Tiffany P August 24, 2009 at 3:25 pm

During my lunch break I’ll go walk over to Publix to get something for my lunch instead of driving. I work on the second floor so I always take the stairs instead of taking the elevator like everyone else.

161 Mari August 24, 2009 at 3:25 pm

I work in a library that has two stories and I always, always take the stairs.

162 Josie August 24, 2009 at 3:27 pm

I am taking CPR lessons at my local hospital, and signed up for cooking lessons! I think cooking at home is best for my heart and pocket!:)

163 amanda August 24, 2009 at 3:29 pm

I work overnight at a nursing home and instead of watching TV all night, I do laps around the home.

164 Kiki (Run Kiki Run) August 24, 2009 at 3:30 pm

Instead of IMing or emailing my colleagues I walk around the office floors to talk to them in person – I get some walking and some face-to-face communication! x

165 Jessica August 24, 2009 at 3:31 pm

I do a number of things for my heart health every day.

#1 – walk (A LOT) plus get in 45-60 minutes of good hard cardio almost every day.

#2 – yoga (to reduce stress – and it just feels god!)

#3 – eat AT LEAST 1 super food per day.

166 Melissa August 24, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Thanks for the giveaway! I made sure that I found an apartment within walking distance to my place of employment. Besides the obvious health benefits, though, I love having that “me” time to reflect, listen to music, read, or… whatever my (healthy) heart desires.

167 LindsayK August 24, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I don’t own a car, so I bike or walk everywhere – good for the heart and the environment 😉

168 Jenna August 24, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I work at a retail store at the mall. so when i park my car i don’t park it near the entrance that is closest to my store, i park my car at the farthest entrance so i can get some extra walking in 🙂

169 Sarah August 24, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I walk about 4 miles each day to and from campus, plus leisure walks (to the grocery store, coffee shop, friends houses, etc) and gym visits on less busy days. I LOVE living off campus and having the opportunity to incorporate exercise into my class schedule – I have to go to class, so why not add in some extra fitness on the way! It helps me de-stress from the work I have on my to-do list, and I go to bed each night with a smile knowing I did my body a favor that day. 🙂

170 Katherine August 24, 2009 at 3:33 pm

My sister and I run every night, instead of driving to a park we each run to a location midway between our houses and begin our run from there. We save gas, increase our cardio for the day and get to have girl time all while being “green” and good for our bodies and well being.

171 Katy S. August 24, 2009 at 3:36 pm

I too take the stairs wherever I am even when everyone else is taking the elevator. I also park about .5 mile away from work to get that little extra walk in!
Awesome giveaway by the way:)

I take the stairs everyday at work instead of the elevator 🙂

173 Jumanah August 24, 2009 at 3:39 pm

I walk my daughters to day care instead of drive them and walk to work (about 1/2 mile) when the weather allows!

174 Anne August 24, 2009 at 3:40 pm

Aside from running 5-6 days a week, I’ve started taking walks whenever I am talking on the phone. That way, instead of sitting in my apartment while talking to friends and family I can easily get an extra 30 minutes of movement in!

175 Amandamoo August 24, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Yay! I’d love to win this! I walk my dog around our park every day (at least once). It’s a solid 1.5 miles so, if nothing else, I’m getting about a half hour of cardio every.single.day.

176 Emily August 24, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I cut the caffeine to help my heart!

177 Michele August 24, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I became a vegetarian and park at the end of parking lots even when close spots are available (unless it’s snowing or pouring down rain).

178 Sarah August 24, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I talk my dog for a walk every week day. Even if I don’t want to go the animal wants his walk and he lets me know it. Usually 1-1.5 miles.

179 Caroline August 24, 2009 at 3:43 pm

The first thing I did was cut back on excess sodium. Now I run three days a week and make the 1/2 mile loop to pick up my mail, taking the dogs with me!

180 Susan August 24, 2009 at 3:45 pm

Upon waking up, I do 20 minutes of yoga in my room! The little things definitely add up

181 megan August 24, 2009 at 3:46 pm

185 Becca August 24, 2009 at 3:49 pm

I always take the stairs to the 4th floor at work, and often park in the next parking ramp over from my office building (there are 5 different ramps besides the one attached to my building) for a little added exercise!

186 Bre August 24, 2009 at 3:52 pm

188 Lisa P August 24, 2009 at 3:52 pm

I ALWAYS choose whole grains and eat >5 servings of fruit and veg per day!

190 Kimberly Lee August 24, 2009 at 3:56 pm

I always take the steps instead of the elevator!

192 Laura August 24, 2009 at 4:00 pm

193 Brea August 24, 2009 at 4:00 pm

I eat several nutrient rich meals a day. Carry a BPA free water bottle with me wherever I go. When I’m at work I always take the stairs instead of the elevator. I also get in a good workout in the morning or evening 4-6 days a week depending on my schedule!

194 Jess August 24, 2009 at 4:01 pm

I take the stairs every. single. time. This means seven floors in the dungeons of some of the weirdest buildings on my campus sometimes! But it’s so worth it. 😀

195 Eat Chic August 24, 2009 at 4:03 pm

I take a morning run before walking my dog. Instead of taking her with me, I get twice the exercise this way!

196 Beth @ CrossBorderCravings August 24, 2009 at 4:04 pm

I always use escalators like stairs in and out of the metro. Lots of extra steps added to my day!

197 Maggie August 24, 2009 at 4:06 pm

I eat an incredible amount of fiber a day (16 grams just for breakfast!) and I walk everywhere (easy in NYC) but I also try not to take elevators or escalators.

202 Anna August 24, 2009 at 4:11 pm

On my walk to the gym in the morning, I go over 10 things I am thankful for that day! It keeps my attitude positive and starts my day with less stress!

203 Laura August 24, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Sweet giveaway! I always sneak exercise into my day! I park far away from the store, do calf raises while brushing my teeth, turn housework into a workout, etc. I am also a waitress (which is a workout in itself), but I always volunteer to carry the heavy trays back to the kitchen! It’s a great arm/core workout!

204 Diane August 24, 2009 at 4:17 pm

Eating fresh, not-messed-around-with foods. Running. Not eating too much cholesterol.

209 valerie August 24, 2009 at 4:33 pm

I always take the stairs. Always. Unless I need to go up further than the sixth floor, I never even consider the elevator or escalator

210 Arwen August 24, 2009 at 4:33 pm

I take stairs everywhere at work, parking garage, apartment. I park far away from the store where it is easier to find parking instead of going around in circles anyway 🙂
Little things like these really make a difference in the long run.

211 Susan August 24, 2009 at 4:34 pm

I park as far away as possible from the entrance to my office so I can get a few extra steps in before I enter the manic world that is my office. I also bring my lunch in all reusable containers to be nicer to the enviroment, and nicer to my body 🙂

212 Amritika August 24, 2009 at 4:36 pm

I always read the ingredient list before I buy anything. I try to avoid ready-made meals/take-outs and try as much as possible to cook at home with healthy organic ingredients and workout 3-4 times a week.

I include heart healthy omega 3s like flax and salmon in my meals.

215 Teresica August 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm

I take my puppy for a walk everyday; rain, snow, or sunshine. (That’s probably more something that SHE does for my health since she wouldn’t let me get away with not giving her the daily walk…sometimes two or three!)

216 Therese August 24, 2009 at 4:42 pm

What a great cause! There are so many programs similar to this that charge hundreds of dollards–it’s great that there is such a wonderful resource for free!

I try to get at least 30 minutes of activity every single day. It doesn’t always have to be a formal workout, even a walk with the pupper counts in my book!

217 Sparkgirl09 August 24, 2009 at 4:42 pm

I make sure to drink plenty of water everyday and to include on my diet almonds, olive oil and avocados!! YUM =)

218 Emily August 24, 2009 at 4:43 pm

238 mags August 24, 2009 at 5:33 pm

instead of just letting my pup out in the backyard every morning, i jog him around the block about a mile. only takes about 10 minutes and it gets in a little more exercise for both of us!

239 ferrellsove August 24, 2009 at 5:33 pm

Listening to my body and doing what it tells me. (Hungry, tired, run another mile, eat a cookie or piece of fruit) This keeps me healthy and sane!

240 Melissa August 24, 2009 at 5:36 pm

I recently heard that breastfeeding is good for your heart, so I do that – haha (not just for that reason, of course! 😉 ) I also eat a lot of oats and snack on almonds quite often! 🙂

I want some of your pizza! 🙂

241 kayteesays August 24, 2009 at 5:39 pm

245 Mia August 24, 2009 at 5:50 pm

In addition to eating healthy and exercising daily, I compete with myself to see how much water I can drink. I know it is silly, but I do this before I let myself have any other beverage to drink. I start with a refillable water bottle (which is on its last leg) that holds 32 ounces of water. My goal is to drink at least 3 bottles plus more when I workout. That’s 94+ ounces daily!

I don’t ever wake up feeling salty or bloated any more.

Your pizza looks delish! That is on our menu tonight.

246 Erin August 24, 2009 at 5:56 pm

I quit smoking, and I get some physical activity in every day. (Be it the gym, a bike ride, or even just a walk around the block!) I’ve lost 60 pounds in the last year, so my heart probably thanks me profusely!

247 loveprevails August 24, 2009 at 6:06 pm

wow this looks awesome, I totally hope to win because I plan on taking part! I always make it a point to walk my dog, not just let her outside and roam around the open field, or backyard, but really go for a walk! This is good for both of us and gives her a break from the boring house all day!

249 CATIEDIDIT August 24, 2009 at 6:11 pm

It’s funny that mail is your thing, because it’s mine, too! I was just thinking about it 10 minutes ago! I was in my car, heading home from my internship…when I decided to get out and walk instead of driving to my mail room (the walk is actually like a 5-10 minute walk!). I realized I do this more now than when I lived with a lazy roommate who always wanted me to drive her!

250 Spotty Prep August 24, 2009 at 6:12 pm

I work on the 3rd floor and I take the stairs! It always surprises me how many people on the 2nd and 3rd floors take the elevator…

251 Ilene August 24, 2009 at 6:14 pm

I purposely park further in the student parking lot so I’ll walk farther everyday(:

252 Jacqueline August 24, 2009 at 6:15 pm

To help my heart, almost a year ago today I cut out all the junk out of my diet, and started exercising. To date Ive lost 70lbs.

253 Rachelle August 24, 2009 at 6:21 pm

Everyday after dinner my 2 year old daughter and I go for a long walk in the park. I enjoy this moment with her and love that she is learning healthy habits at an early age. She is always up for an adventure!

254 hungrywanderers August 24, 2009 at 6:23 pm

I try to eat oatmeal every morning and if not, I pay extra close attention to getting extra whole grains in during my day 🙂

I try to make time twice a week to swim a few laps at my community pool. It’s a fun, energy inducing exercise that really helps me build some much needed endurance. It’s heart healthy and doesn’t hurt at all that tans are an added benefit 🙂 Don’t forget to use your sunscreen!

P.S. I only buy organic pasta sauce.

256 Julia August 24, 2009 at 6:26 pm

I park in the parking lot furthest away from my classes in law school so that I get in a little extra walk everyday. I also try to be conscious everyday of what I am eating, and try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables!

257 followingfoodie August 24, 2009 at 6:28 pm

What a great giveaway – thanks! I try to take the stairs whenever I can, even when I lived on the 9th floor of my dorm!

258 thelongweigh August 24, 2009 at 6:30 pm

I try to get some form of exercise everyday..whether its a sweaty kickboxing class at the gym, or just walking the one block to the grocery store instead of driving. It’s important to me to stay healthy first and foremost, especially coming from a family with lots of health problems!

259 Melinda H. August 24, 2009 at 6:33 pm

I just started riding my bike to work in the morning (while the warm Ohio weather lasts!) and also taking the stairs. As a nursing student I try to set an example for my friends/co-workers because it’s easy to slack when you’ve been on your feet all day! 🙂

Great give-a-way, Meghann!

260 sals August 24, 2009 at 6:34 pm

what a great cause! When I talk on my cellphone, rather than sit on the couch, I try to take a walk (around the block, down the hall at work) to get some extra steps in.

261 Annalisa August 24, 2009 at 6:35 pm

I reduced my sodium intake a while ago and feel 1000% better. Not to mention exercise, limit alcohol consumption, and general eating right.

262 Kristen August 24, 2009 at 6:41 pm

I work with preschoolers, so I always make sure to get some running/chasing in during recess. It’s fun for them and healthy for me!

263 Katie R August 24, 2009 at 6:56 pm

I always walk over to the far side of my office building to use the restroom at least once a day. This detour adds about 2 blocks and 4 flights of stairs (each way) to my daily activity.

264 cait August 24, 2009 at 6:57 pm

as I am in the process of getting dressed/doing make-up in the morning, I dance around my room to loud pop music every day. it really gets my heart rate up for 10-15 minutes and elevates my mood for a great day. 🙂

265 Althea August 24, 2009 at 7:10 pm

I exercise almost everyday and eat more fruits and vegetables than I ever have before in my life. I also try to avoid things like alcohol, which is pretty hard when you’re in college! Oh and I’m starting a yoga class, which I’m REALLY excited about!

266 asha August 24, 2009 at 7:15 pm

Besides my daily runs, I try to always take the stairs at work and home. I live on the 4th floor of my condo building and work on the 3rd floor at the office building. All these stairs really add up and keeps me moving!

267 Kelly August 24, 2009 at 7:21 pm

I try to exercise everyday to keep mu blood pumping 🙂

268 Rosey Rebecca August 24, 2009 at 7:28 pm

Oh yay!!! I walk to my gym instead of driving!! And I go to yoga/pilates and spin classes a couple times a week on top of my regular workout.

269 jsr August 24, 2009 at 7:29 pm

I eat heart healthy oats each and every morning….in addition to being healthy they are delicious too. 🙂

270 Greer August 24, 2009 at 7:33 pm

I walk to and from work every day (a little over 1 mile each way). Takes only 5 more minutes than public transportation and lets me enjoy the sunshine and fresh air!

271 Claire August 24, 2009 at 7:33 pm

I put fiber rich cereal in my yogurt. Increasing fiber helps decrease cholesterol which is heart healthy…and tastes good, too!

272 Emily August 24, 2009 at 7:39 pm

I take the stairs and get plenty of fiber in my morning oats. I also get omega 3’s by using flax seed. 🙂

273 Megs August 24, 2009 at 7:45 pm

My mom passed away at 60 from heart disease. She had 4 heart attacks. Everyday that I get up and exercise I am doing something to fight the genetics that are against me. Everyday when I think I cant do another lift or sprint, I know it ‘s nothing compared to the pain she had!

274 Ali August 24, 2009 at 7:49 pm

I do a little meditation at night to calm my mind and body at night before bed so my heart isn’t racing and I feel relaxed- I also eat a good bit of oatmeal- and of course lift weights and do cardio for my heart as well- I heart my heart 🙂

275 Kailey (SnackFace) August 24, 2009 at 7:50 pm

Excellent giveaway! To help my heart, I stick to a balanced vegan diet and run 4 to 5 times a week! Now to undo all the good things I do for my body… 😉 I kid.

276 Tess August 24, 2009 at 7:56 pm

I always park in the last parking spot and walk to the store and I don’t use drive thru windows anywhere. Great giveaway, thanks!

277 Danielle August 24, 2009 at 8:00 pm

I work in a hospital, so I park in the furthest part of the staff parking lot from the hospital. I also always try to take the stairs everywhere. Sometimes that involves walking up to the 4th floor 6 or 7 times a day.

278 Jess August 24, 2009 at 8:06 pm

A simple thing I do everyday to improve my heart health is to park at the back lot of campus and walk uphill to class… it really gets my heart pumping!

279 kimberlyzubris August 24, 2009 at 8:08 pm

I eat oats and flax seed for breakfast each morning and walk to and from work each day too. Add that to my 5 days of running/cycling each week and my heart is very happy!

280 melissa August 24, 2009 at 8:08 pm

i walk or run daily! have a good one meghann!

281 Pam August 24, 2009 at 8:10 pm

I walk to the grocery store, friends houses, and to work occasionally. I love living in the city and being able to do that!

282 Mikey August 24, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Well.. I don’t eat meat and instead opt for other means of obtaining good fats and protein. Of course you can’t forget the greens. 🙂 My favorites right now include lentils, quinoa, and broccoli. YUM!

283 A+M August 24, 2009 at 8:15 pm

It’s not much, but when I/m finished loading my groceries in my car I never leave the cart just anywhere…I walk it back to the front of the store. I guess that’s common courtesy but it also helps with getting a quick walk in 🙂

284 valerie August 24, 2009 at 8:16 pm

I’ve only been reading your blog for a week, and so far I’m really enjoy your food reviews & tips! Thanks for keeping such an amazing resource for everyone out there interested in staying healthy.

I purposefully park on the opposite side of my building every day, so that I’m forced to at least walk a little extra each day. I also strive to include antioxidants in my diet each day.

285 Yasmin August 24, 2009 at 8:19 pm

As soon as my alarm goes off, I jump on the treadmill for 15 minutes before showering. While my dinner cooks or bakes I walk on the treadmill too. I also do the mailbox trick you mentioned!

286 Ann August 24, 2009 at 8:41 pm

I walk on the treadmill 30 min – 1 hr a day.

287 Melissa G August 24, 2009 at 8:42 pm

I always do some form of exercise or movement every day. Whether it’s a 3 hour bike ride or just a walk to the store. Move every day! Also I eat my weight in spinach every day 🙂

288 kate August 24, 2009 at 8:48 pm

I am a student and at school, I always take the longest route possible to any of my classes and use my breaks to walk laps around the campus. extra walking on top of my daily workouts make my heart happy. 🙂

289 yalemorgan August 24, 2009 at 9:07 pm

I drink a glass of red wine daily. Oh – and run and bike. But the wine…mmmmm!

290 Anne P August 24, 2009 at 9:24 pm

i always take the stairs 🙂

291 Errign August 24, 2009 at 9:32 pm

I have been walking more and more in preparation for walking to college every morning for the year!

292 kristi (sweet cheeks) August 24, 2009 at 9:37 pm

I try to squeeze in any little amount of exercise wherever I can. If I know I have a busy day ahead of me, I set my alarm clock to wake up earlier and at least get in 10-20 minutes of exercise in. It always makes me feel so much better!

293 runnerskitchen August 24, 2009 at 9:44 pm

Instead of getting on the subway near my office in the evening, I walk through Central Park and get on the subway farther uptown. I also like to eat dark chocolate 🙂

294 Laura E August 24, 2009 at 9:50 pm

I make sure to get 8 hours of sleep each night! Our hearts need the rest!

295 Kristen August 24, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Oh what a fantastic give away! I hope I win! I live 1/4 of a mile from my mother in law so everytime I want to visit or chat I walk over to her house and we walk around the block and chit chat about our days and upcoming events! I love that we get to catch up AND exercise! Oh and I love love love your new puppy!

296 Breanne August 24, 2009 at 10:18 pm

I do a little cardio everyday to help keep my heart healthy and the occasional glass of red wine 😉

297 Martha August 24, 2009 at 10:34 pm

Hey Meghann! My favorite heart-healthy habit is taking my puppy for long, brisk walks…not only is the exercise and fresh air good for me, but spending time with the pup is such a stress-reliever! Thanks for the giveaway. 🙂

298 Cecilia August 24, 2009 at 10:34 pm

Exercise of course, haha!

I would love to win this comp, ESP the yoga mat …. olala!

299 kathy August 24, 2009 at 10:57 pm

Besides eating healthy and working out… I make sure I don’t succumb to the road rage monster! I remind myself to get from point A to point B without raising my blood pressure!

Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

300 Amelia August 24, 2009 at 11:01 pm

I think running is my favorite way to keep my heart healthy!

301 Susan August 24, 2009 at 11:06 pm

I make a big salad for lunch every day – that way I know I’m always getting my veggies!

302 marie August 24, 2009 at 11:55 pm

I always take the stairs at work. I figure that every little bit of exercise helps!

303 Kathleen August 25, 2009 at 12:11 am

I don’t buy a parking pass for school (I go to college with horrible parking options) so I park in the “free lot” which is 1.5 miles away and hoof it to class and back every day. I also park at the back of parking lots so I have more to walk…gotta get my heart pumping!

304 Erin August 25, 2009 at 2:17 am

I take the stairs instead of the elevator every chance I get, whether it’s walking up to my office, skipping the escalator at the subway or choosing to live in a 3rd floor apartment. It’s easy but can make a difference over time.

305 Laura August 25, 2009 at 2:30 am

I have started to eat breakfast every morning, usually oatmeal and a bowl of fruit, and have started eating healthier dinners which include a ton of veggies! =] I have also cut down on eating red meat to 1 a week…if that.

306 runnin4fun August 25, 2009 at 3:27 am

I take the stairs at work. I am running to other floors alot,so this really adds up for me. I also work 12hr shifts and don’t have alot of time to exercise on the days I work,so this makes me feel like I’m getting some exercise in!

307 Lauren August 25, 2009 at 7:12 am

A simple little thing I do to improve my heart health is walk my puppy 2 times a day! Good for the heart and good for the soul! 😉

308 Stephanie August 25, 2009 at 8:04 am

Well, I live in NYC and I don’t own a car so I end up walking every where. But in my office, I tend to to walk to talk to people instead of sending emails or calling. It gets me out of my chair and I get to socialize. 🙂

309 CalliNae August 25, 2009 at 8:41 am

I run! 🙂

310 lms August 25, 2009 at 8:43 am

walk or run as many days a week as possible.

311 Ali August 25, 2009 at 12:50 pm

I walked to and from work everyday! It is a little over 3 miles and takes me 45 minutes. I could easily take the T and be to work in 15 minutes, but I walk because it is better for me and the environment!

312 Jenny August 25, 2009 at 4:08 pm

this giveaway rocks my socks!

something I do everyday to improve heart health is yoga and eat peanut butter 🙂 gotta love that it helps with your cholesterol!
