A Short Trip to the Beach

by Meghann on August 22, 2009

Today was most definitely a beach day. :)

Derek and I met up with my parents and then headed north to New Symerna Beach for a little fun in the sun.

And by fun in the sun I mean I laid on a towel and read my thrashy magazine.

Kourtney Kardashian is pregnant? The horror! lol

Eventually I broke into the lovely picnic lunch I packed.

I was really craving an almond butter wrap, but was out of carrots, spinach and aluminum paper so I got a little creative.

This was an amazing almond butter, craisins, and fresh peach slices on a whole grain arnolds thin.

I MUST make this again! So refreshing and so delicious!

To go with my sammy I had some raw okra fresh from the farmer’s market this morning.

I can’t seem to kick this okra habit lately. It’s just what I like to eat at the moment.

After a nice walk on the beach I came back to a Barney Butter Oatmeal cookie.

As we are in Florida, the clouds did eventually roll in and we had to leave.

On the way out of town my Dad had to stop as this little French Bakery he has been raving about.

IMG_0591.JPG

He came out with an assortment of goodie. All looked very rich and fabulous.

I split the ‘surprise cookie’ with my Mom.

It was good, but the chocolate icing was very rich and gave me a little tummy ache. :(

Cross your fingers the clouds that were rolling in just keep on rolling. We have big plans to meet my Sister and her boyfriend at Universal this evening to ride the new Roller Coaster that just opened this weekend. It looks like a good one and I would hate for the rain to ruin my fun!

Bagels at the Farmers Market

by Meghann on August 22, 2009

Call me crazy, but I love getting up early on Saturday mornings and taking off on a great run. In fact it’s something I look forward to all week.

On Saturdays there is no pressure to be back at a certain time and I feel like I can do limitless miles. I also love how Saturdays give me the opportunity to run somewhere other then just around my neighborhood.

This morning I drove to beautiful Baldwin park and did a wonderful 6.5 miles. 2 loops around the lake and 1 around around the park equals the perfect mix of scenery and distance. I averaged a 9:30 pace and spent the majority of my run politely nodding and smiling at my other early morning runners.

After my run I met Derek and Maddie at the Winter Park’s Farmer Market for some fresh produce and breakfast.

This was Maddie’s first time at a Farmer’s Market and I really think she enjoyed it. She loves other dogs and just kept wanting to walk up and introduce herself to everyone.

There is a popular bagel stand at the Winter Farmer’s Market that always has a line out the door.

IMG_0562.JPG

I have been wanting to try it for a while and decided today would be perfect.

I ordered the Lox & Bagel on a Whole Wheat Oat Bran Bagel with a low fat herb spread that I politely asked be spread on only one side of the bagel.

Derek ordered an Everything bagel with a Cinnamon Cream Cheese spread. The combination reminded me of French Toast. Yum!

I really enjoyed my bagel sandwich, but am a little unsure of why the place is so popular. I was really hoping for some sort of bagel & egg sandwich but they don’t offer that selection. They offered the egg on an english muffin, but it was pre made and I really wanted a bagel. Oh well.

The fresh produce was really top notch so early at the farmer’s market.

I came home withe a bag full of goodies, I can’t wait to experiment with.

Peach Crisp anyone? ;)

We are currently driving to my parent’s house to spend the day at the beach! I am ready for some fun in the sun!! :)
