Watching TV in my Underwear

by Meghann on August 17, 2009

This weekend I had the distinct pleasure of sharing a tiny hotel room with three wonderful women.  As wonderful as they are and as much as I love them to death, I have to admit I was looking forward to having my own space again.

It’s very refreshing to be back in my apartment. I love my friends and I love spending time with them, but sometimes it just nice to be able to sit in front of the tv in my underwear and not worry about the exploded suitcase that has yet to be touch to the left. Yes, I’m a slob and I love it!

My hunger never completed subsided this afternoon, so I was glad to have to substantial tasty snack ready to be devoured.

Chobani were kind enough to send me some sample of their brand new flavors. Today I decided to try Pineapple.

IMG_0364.JPG

For the topping I broke up a Nutty Granola Square that Andrea from Pom had traded me for the bake sale. I gave her one of Whit’s Chocolate Zucchini Cupcakes I had won and she gave me one of Elisabeth’s Granola Squares.

IMG_0366.JPG

Is this not the cutest packaging? Elisabeth did a great job beautifying these bars!

Loved the pineapple flavor. Loved the Nutty Granola Bar. Disliked how runny the yogurt was.

I’ve had Chobani before and remembered it being thick and creamy, but this was a little thin and runny. Maybe I got a bad container? I’m willing to give it another shot! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have a little chobani giveaway in the works, so stay tuned!

As you could gather from above when I got home I had no aspirations to do anything but sit in my underwear in front of the tv. It felt great to just relax for once. My energy is way down my body is craving rest.

Before I stripped down I did find motivation to make a quick run to Publix and throw together a quick meal.

Fresh veggies and herbs was what I needed. I did a spin on Caprese salad and tossed together Cucumber, Avocado, Tomato, Mozzarella, Fresh Basil, EVOO, Balsalmic Vinegar and S&P.

IMG_0371.JPG

The salad truly it the spot. It was light, refreshing and a pleasure to eat.

On the side I made some Okra Fries that I baked in the oven at 420 for 10 minutes.

With a little ketchup for dipping.

Whit’s Chocolate Zucchini Cupcakes thankfully survived the trip home from Boston. Albeit a little smooshed.

I think this one had coconut in it. Yum! THese babies are so rich and moist. I definitely made a wise decision with these!

If you will excuse me, I have some serious couch potatoing to get back to!

Peace and Quiet… I love it!

I am hanging out on the couch, too…but I have bottoms on. ๐Ÿ˜€ Enjoy the relaxation, you deserve it!

2 sarah (ghost world) August 17, 2009 at 8:52 pm

meghann, loved meeting you this past weekend! i thought you had amazing poise and public speaking ability. thanks for everything!

3 Errign August 17, 2009 at 9:00 pm

I wanna try pineapple chobani!

4 Julie August 17, 2009 at 9:04 pm

holla! fellow slob here! I probably shouldn’t be so proud of that…oh well! Sometimes relaxation is more important than cleaning…especially when you have no work week guests, or roomates.

5 Kristen @ Simply Savor August 17, 2009 at 9:08 pm

yum your caprese salad looks so good, definitely want to try to make this soon! enjoy your night of relaxation ๐Ÿ™‚

6 Chloe (Naturally Frugal) August 17, 2009 at 9:11 pm

Is raw okra gooey? I’ve never had okra before but I know it can get that way when cooked. I’ll have to try some but think I might cook it for my first experience.

Have fun lounging!

7 Whit August 17, 2009 at 9:22 pm

hahahaha, that cupcake looks pitiful! It had traveled so far, from Charlotte to Beantown and back to Orlando, that the life was just gone from it. Poor thing, glad you took care of him.

8 Elisabeth August 17, 2009 at 9:35 pm

So glad you liked the granola square! Enjoy your downtime–you earned it!

9 Sarah August 17, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Your post title seriously had me cracking up! I know what you mean about having some alone time.

10 Matt August 17, 2009 at 9:42 pm

Love watching TV in my underwear ๐Ÿ™‚

11 Erin August 17, 2009 at 9:46 pm

Shut up! I love Chobani. Can’t wait to see wait the giveaway entails!

I agree with the lounging – my roommate has been away for the past week on business and I may or may not have sat around without complete cover up! It’s too hot for that anyway!

12 Ashley August 17, 2009 at 9:50 pm

meghann!! hey, i’ve been reading your blog for a few months and i love it <3

i have a question about the okra fries too. does the gooey go away once they're baked or does it intensify?

ps. i'm not sure if you read nytimes.com but it's published a lot of running articles over the past month that i think you might be interested in. this one i found to be interesting,

Love lounging at home, sometimes you just need a little R&R after a long weekend. Cupcake looks delicious!

14 Emily (A Nutritionist Eats) August 17, 2009 at 10:22 pm

I really need to try the okra like that…I don’t think I’ve ever had it plain before!

15 jocelyneatsfresh August 17, 2009 at 10:26 pm

I’m glad you are relaxing in your undies! lol seriously…. Just by reading your blog..I can tell you need some downtime!

16 Deva@Vorilee August 17, 2009 at 10:49 pm

I totally understand relaxing in your underwear ๐Ÿ™‚ Sometimes all you need is you PJs, the remote, a blanket, and a bowl of popcorn!

17 Allie Katie August 17, 2009 at 10:51 pm

I find Chobani to be the runniest of the greek yogurts. I tried Oikos for the first time today–I am a Fage girl but I am trying to go organic with dairy…i loved it!

18 Emily August 17, 2009 at 10:53 pm

I spent my evening watching tv in my undwear too! My So-Called Life, which is somehow even more underwear worthy!

When I tried that new Chiobani flavor mine was thick as usual, so I agree you got an off container.

20 Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now August 17, 2009 at 11:01 pm

Glad you made it home ok and can now rest!

21 Leianna August 17, 2009 at 11:10 pm

Rest and the couch are great combos, and pineapple chibiani sounds amazing!

22 Niki August 17, 2009 at 11:29 pm

Glad you are having a relaxing evening! I want to try that Pineapple Chobani! I will be on the lookout for it!

23 Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) August 17, 2009 at 11:47 pm

I cannot wait to try the new Chobani flavors. Pineapple greek yogurt sounds fabulous!!!

24 biz319 August 18, 2009 at 12:08 am

Too funny about watching t.v. in your underwear! My daughter has to unpack and start her laundry the second we get home!

Me, I can live out of my suitcase for 2 weeks with no problem! ๐Ÿ˜€

25 Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) August 18, 2009 at 12:37 am

I love runny yogurt!! How do you get samples to review for your blog? Do you ask the company for them or do they just send them to you? What on earth is Okra!!?? Looks cool!!

26 Lizzy August 18, 2009 at 12:58 am

how else do you like to eat okra. I’ve tried it one time and didn’t like it at all. but maybe baking it will do the trick!

27 Courtney August 18, 2009 at 1:14 am

I totally love that you embrace your um, slobbiness? Really, it’s just you being comfy being you. ๐Ÿ˜€ I sit around NAKED.

28 masteringpublichealth August 18, 2009 at 1:36 am

I bid on those nutty bars, too — they looked amazing! Yup, the packaging was irresistible. As I’ve mentioned to some of my other faveorite bloggers, all Zesty’s Summit blogging talk encouraged me to finally create my own, after years of reading everyone else’s! So, http://masteringpublichealth.wordpress.com is my new home ๐Ÿ™‚

29 Emily Eats August 18, 2009 at 3:27 am

Enjoy your couch-potato-ing ~ I’m sure you are ๐Ÿ˜‰
I really enjoy discovering new ways of prepping veggies from your blog – I have never roasted okra before, but I sure love it stirfried, so I’m going to give it a go. Thank you!

30 jibbalibba August 18, 2009 at 4:32 am

i would like to apologize for not reading the whole post you got me at pineapple yogurt yummsies

31 Meg C. August 18, 2009 at 9:00 am

no matter how social you are, there is definitely a certain enjoyment that comes with relaxing by yourself without having to worry about anybody else!

ps those choc zucchini muffins looked amazing, i definitely had my eye on them at the sale!

32 Susan August 18, 2009 at 10:24 am

I love living alone for the same reason! I loved my old roommate too, but sometimes it’s great to plop in front of the TV in my undies and not have someone chatting in my ear!

33 Carolyn August 18, 2009 at 12:35 pm

We JUST got Chobani at a store near me. No Pineapple, yet, though.

34 Katie August 18, 2009 at 12:55 pm

I concur, it is so nice to just veg out after a long trip! And I am so jealous of your okra. I have been craving it for WEEKS and none of the grocery stores around me ever seem to have any. Boo!

35 Evan Thomas August 18, 2009 at 1:17 pm

I like the pineapple chobani but it wasn’t my favorite either. I’ve read that pineapple has enzymes which breaks down certain sugars which makes it hard to add to yogurt or ice cream. I think that’s also why it’s made with a 2% base instead of FF.

And it looks like maddy’s been well taken care of but I’m sure she misses you too

36 lilveggiepatch August 18, 2009 at 4:37 pm

I had my own room, but it was still great to get back home! I still haven’t unpacked, though…

Smooshed cupcakes are the best! I don’t know why, but it seems to make everything a little sweeter.
