8 Miles Before Work!

by Meghann on July 24, 2009

I am happy to report I set a new personal record this morning of running 8 miles before work. πŸ™‚

I knew I would not be able to get a longer run in this weekend in Tampa, so I was determined to get a decent one in this morning. I set my alarm for 5:00a m this last night and was out the door by 5:20. I managed to complete the 8 miles in 1:17:23 and still have time to shower and eat a great breakfast.

I know I’ve said it before but there truly is something about accomplishing a longer distance before beginning the day. I feel so full of energy and am proudly displaying a goofy grin because deep inside I am ecstatic of my accomplishments.

What a great way to start my Friday!

There was not much yogurt left in the tub this morning, so instead of dirtying a bowl I just added everything else to the tub.

To the remaining Oikos Yogurt I added

I really need to start adding nut butters to my morning cereals. It’s just too good together. πŸ™‚

I thought I would end the post with something that made me laugh this morning. I hope to be this cool when I get married one day. πŸ™‚

25 MarathonVal July 24, 2009 at 9:39 am

My husband and I thought about doing something similar since it would be so unexpected – and then I mentioned it to my mom and she was aghast – “Oh I cant STAND when people do that, that is so tacky”…. soooo needless to say we nipped that idea in the bud haha

26 Jess July 24, 2009 at 9:43 am

haha, thanks for that video Meghann! I needed a huge smile this morning. One of the better dancing wedding videos I’ve seen!

27 emily July 24, 2009 at 9:46 am

i am a newbie when it comes to running. before yesterday i had only run a mile without stopping once, but yesterday i rain over 2 miles! you see i ellipticize i dont run, but i would like to run. today after that run, my legs are in so much pain. Iwas wondering what will help with the next day leg soreness after a run and i was wondering how it took you to be able to run 6 miles without stopping and if you had a schedule that you went by to be able to run further and further.
thank you
congrats on teh 8miler

28 runeatrepeat July 24, 2009 at 9:49 am

Great job on 8 miles before work! I know it is super hard to get up early enough to have a “long” run on a work day πŸ™‚ I can’t seem to make it past 6!

29 Carolyn July 24, 2009 at 9:51 am

I pretty much had the same breakfast. Brown Cow greek yogurt with granola.

BTW: Your cruise recaps inspired me to book one in September. This will be my 5th! (I used to live in FL, too) I can’t wait!

30 nutritionbyeve July 24, 2009 at 9:53 am

Haha. That’s funny. We had a very traditional ceremony πŸ™‚

31 Lizzy July 24, 2009 at 10:03 am

Congrats on that run! how exciting πŸ™‚

32 Mandy A July 24, 2009 at 10:06 am

Incredible run!!! I am not a runner… so going 2 miles for me is huge… but I can’t even imagine going 8!! Awesome πŸ™‚

33 Madelin July 24, 2009 at 10:16 am

Your early morning runs are really inspiring. I really don’t know how you do it :). You can tell from your blog posts that it makes you positive and happy though!

34 Mica July 24, 2009 at 10:16 am

Oh, congratulations on eight miles before work. Now go bask in your sense of accomplishment, isn’t it lovely?

37 Jess July 24, 2009 at 10:30 am

I LOVE that video. I’m not a fan of traditional weddings at all so it’s always nice to see people having fun with it.

My favourite is the wedding party who did the Michael Jackson Thriller dance.

38 Michelle July 24, 2009 at 10:39 am

LMAO that video totally made my morning! πŸ˜€

39 Niki July 24, 2009 at 10:43 am

40 Matt July 24, 2009 at 10:52 am

41 Ally July 24, 2009 at 11:03 am

I want to run 8 miles before work!!! I did 9 the other morning and messed something up big time in my calf and haven’t been able to hardly walk since. YAY for your great AM accomplishment!

42 jenngirl July 24, 2009 at 11:10 am

Congrats on the run!!

I agree, adding nut butters to my cereal-yogurt messes has been a very good decision πŸ˜‰

43 Andrea (Off Her Cork) July 24, 2009 at 11:21 am

I saw that video yesterday and I love it! Admittedly I find weddings to be so flipping boring. Meh. But this was totally awesome!

LOVE the video! Thanks for posting, brightened my day!

I have been very tired and very stressed lately… my times have not been very good at all and it is discouraging. I’ve got 6 miles tomorrow, hoping I can push all the way through!

54 Evan Thomas July 24, 2009 at 8:44 pm

Wow, that’s awesome! I try to do 5 miles before at least one of my work days. It makes me feel a lot better throughout the day even if the sleep loss sucks

55 Emmy July 24, 2009 at 11:08 pm

Congratulations! Personal records are so awesome and encouraging.

What an awesome wedding entrance! It looked like sooo much fun.

56 Jojo July 25, 2009 at 2:35 am

How can you stretch and get hydrated enough in 20 minutes?! I usually have to wake up an hour before my runs, which is why I do not do them early in the morning.
