The Twitter Book

by Meghann on July 22, 2009

The Twitter researched continued today as I spent the morning skimming this book my supervisor brought in.

There is a LOT of interesting information in there.

Do you know there are sites out there design to specifically aid in tracking every time someone mentions you or links to your site? Check out http://tweetbeep.com and http://backtweets.com

And you know the shorten bit.ly links? You can track who clicks on them by adding a + to the end of the link. For example http://bit.ly/19is03+ Cool, right?

Lastly, if you follow me on twitter you will see my tweets encouraging people to use TweetDeck. A reader recommended it to me when I first started twitter and I have to say its the whole reason I have become obsessed!

It’s a program you download to your desktop that automatically updates all the tweets you follow as well as anytime someone mentions you. Twitter now makes so much more sense with this program.

With all this research my head is now full of so much new Twitter knowledge. I seem to get obsessed when I start researching new things and love to find out as much information as possible about it. I just love researching. πŸ™‚ I know I’m a nerd!

I did manage to break away from researching long enough to snack on a pack of Almonds as a mid morning snack.

I was excited about incorporating my left over Frittata in my lunch today.

I heated the frittata up in the trusty microwave then crumbled it over a bed Spinach, Grapes, and Jicama before topping with a little Salsa.

DSCN2901

Yum! I loved the crunchy addition of the jicama. It reminded me of a healthier crouton.

With the salad I had a serving of Kashi Honey Sesame Crackers.

I really like the hint sweetness to the crackers. They are a very mild adaptation of honey graham crackers. A perfect pairing to the brunchy salad.

I another unpictured dessert of 5 Mini Trader Joe Peanut Butter Cups while heading out the door. This is turning into a very bad habit.. :/

After a great lunch I feel energized and ready to get back to work. It’s officially halfway through the week!

guess you got tired of answering mass tweets LOL πŸ˜€

Thanks! I’ll have to check this out!

2 Whit July 22, 2009 at 1:21 pm

TweetDeck is like the best invention ever! I will have to try that + thing. That sounds really cool! Thanks for all the Twitter info. πŸ˜€

I like tweet deck for my phone. Will have to try for the computer. Thanks twitter goddess.

I forgot to write this in your post yesterday – but we use Twitter for work in various ways. It’s been really successful in terms of media.

I like Tweet Deck for searching methods, but I prefer Thwirl or Twitteriffic (when using a mac) because it takes up less space on my screen πŸ™‚

5 Matt July 22, 2009 at 1:32 pm

Lol that is some interesting twitter stuff. I should use mine more!

6 Bec July 22, 2009 at 1:45 pm

I love that you are researching twitter for work!

7 Casey July 22, 2009 at 1:46 pm

I love Twitter. Micro-blogging is fun! Downloading TweetDeck now…

8 roseyrebecca July 22, 2009 at 1:46 pm

Mmm your lunch looks so good!! I have a twitter but I don’t really go on that often. I can see how it would be a great tool for big companies to use though!!

Hmm that was interesting but I am still hestitant to get involved with Twitter – I spent SO much time emailing and blogging (Facebook has fallen by the wayside a bit) – I am worried that Twitter will just suck up more of my time!

10 runeatrepeat July 22, 2009 at 1:47 pm

I think I’m going to start tweeting for my work. I may have to pick your brain on this…

11 Mica July 22, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Thanks for the tweet deck recommendation!

12 Vanessa (Last Night's Leftovers) July 22, 2009 at 1:55 pm

I love Tweet Deck!

13 Emily (A Nutritionist Eats) July 22, 2009 at 1:57 pm

Love tweetdeck, its the only way to go!

14 Lindsay Y. July 22, 2009 at 1:57 pm

I think it’s really cool that your workplace is embracing new social media…it’s definitely the thing to do if you don’t want to get overlooked moving forward.

That said, I’ve still not quite gotten into Twitter myself. Once I replace my POS cell phone with a smart phone, I think tweeting will make more sense…for now, I can only update from my desk at work, and I doubt people care that I’ve moved on from Paperwork Pile #1 to #2!

15 jenngirl July 22, 2009 at 2:01 pm

Wow! I’m impressed with your Twitter knowledge, I love learning about new technologies, and it’s great to be informed!

16 bobbi July 22, 2009 at 2:08 pm

thanks for all the twitter info girl!

17 runnerskitchen July 22, 2009 at 2:11 pm

I’ve been nervous to try twitter, but I have to admit that it seems pretty useful. At various times throughout the day I find myself wanting to update people on something yummy I’m eating or an interesting tidbit I just observed.

Love the frittata salad!

18 Sarah July 22, 2009 at 2:34 pm

What a great idea for a salad!
Those mini PB cups are going to be the end of me, I swear.

19 Ada July 22, 2009 at 2:38 pm

Yum, leftover frittata is the best!

20 Melissa S. July 22, 2009 at 2:44 pm

i sneak those babies all the time…they ain’t gonna do nothing w/ our strapped out metabolisms and hot bods! hehe!

21 Stephanie July 22, 2009 at 3:00 pm

I love Salsa – I could pour salsa over sawdust and eat it… πŸ˜‰

22 Stephanie July 22, 2009 at 3:04 pm

I thought it was interesting to read that the main demographic of facebook is 18 to 24, while Twitter’s is 35 to 49.

23 Tay July 22, 2009 at 3:10 pm

I love how those crackers have just the hint of sweetness! Perfection!

I know what you mean about getting into the bad habit of sweets after every meal…I start to expect them!

24 Kimberly July 22, 2009 at 3:48 pm

Another tweetdeck fan here! Thanks for the tips! πŸ™‚

25 Sara July 22, 2009 at 4:01 pm

30 ksgoodeats July 22, 2009 at 5:48 pm

I’m really glad you posted that Twitter stuff because I KNEW I had to be missing something! I just didn’t see how people could get so into it but now it makes sense!! Thanks πŸ™‚ Hope the rest of your day went well!

31 Erin July 22, 2009 at 6:29 pm

Hi Meghann!

I’ve been reading for a while now but this is my first post! I’ve noticed that you always seem to have so much energy – and all without coffee!!? How do you stay energized throughout the day/week? For some reason, lately, I’ve been absolutely draggginggggg and I so admire your energy levels!

The frittata lunch make me want huevos rancheros for dinner!! Yum!

32 Meghann July 22, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Thanks Erin! I think I stay energized by eating good food, getting plenty of sleep and completing my runs before I go to work. I swear running is like instant coffee. But I sure it does help I am passed out asleep before 10pm each night. πŸ˜‰

33 Deva July 22, 2009 at 7:42 pm

I love PB Cups and Twitter!

34 Melissa July 22, 2009 at 7:44 pm

I STILL don’t understand Twitter!!!!!!

I love what you did with the leftover frittata πŸ™‚
