With an 8:50am flight this morning I had to allow myself enough time to arrive at the ariport 40 minutes ahead of time, the 30 minute drive to the airport, time to shower and to eat breakfast. When it came down to it I had enough time for a short run if I got up at 5:15am and ran it fast.
And ran it fast I did.
As soon as I was out the door I was speeding down the road – well speeding for me. I ran the length of the road my parents live on for a total of 3.5 miles in 28:27… that’s an avg pace of 8:07!
I have been so busy concentrating on endurance and pacing for long runs that I forgot how exhilarating a fast short run could be. That 8:07 pace for the 3.5 miles took just as much out of me as any 15+ mile run does. I ended out of breath, drenched in sweat and with a huge smile on my face. I love running!
The best part was I still had plenty of time to get everything accomplished that I needed to, including enjoying a yummy breakfast.

I broke into one of my pre-packaged cereal mixes this morning. I always make sure to label these babies to remember what I packed.

I also had some Vanilla Non-Fat Yogurt, Strawberries and 1/4 of the Apple my sister had cut up for her morning oats.

Hopefully this breakfast will keep me full through my 2 hour and 45 minute flight, but if not I have a carry on full of yummy healthy snacks.
I still have a few minutes before my flight so I am going to kill time with a little blog reading. Got to love that free WiFi at OIA!
I have a little surprise post for you later this morning, so I hope you enjoy it! Otherwise I will be blogging next from San Antonio. Yee Haw!

(I think your sister should start a blog. If she eats oatmeal in the morning, it’s like she’s halfway there!)
