Weekend Over… Work Begins

by Meghann on May 11, 2009

It’s another Monday! But this Monday is special because its the start of another very exciting week. I have a full day of work in the office today and tomorrow, but then I fly out to San Antonio on Wednesday for another fun conference event.

To start out this week on a good foot, I decided to flip through the on demand options for ExerciseTV before going with the 20 minute Calorie Burn segment.

There was a lot of squatting and up and downs in this video, it did make me break a sweat, but I was honestly tired of slinging the damn weight around by the end. After the 20 minutes I did the strengthening exercise in the new Self this month and some other random arm and ab exercises that came to my head. In the end I had a decent 40 minute work out.

I am really trying to incorporate more strength training into my routine, I just need to find inspiration from somewhere on what moves to do and how long to do them. After my marathon training is over, I am going to review some strength training plans further and try to follow them as best as my pitiful at home gym will allow it.

I broke out the new cute bowl I bought over the weekend for my morning cereal mix.

Today’s mix included ½ cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch, ½ cup Peanut Butter Pows, ½ cup GraduateMeghann’s Cereal Mix, Strawberries, Blueberries, & Vanilla Non-Fat Yogurt.

Nothing says Happy Monday like a nice refreshing bowl of cereal. 🙂

Another faraway conference! I hope this one doesn’t give you too much jetlag…only an hour’s difference. I love the River Walk in San Antonio, you should go if you’ve never seen it!

Cute bowl. I love Crate & Barrel. Good luck with your hectic week and upcoming conference!

San Antonio is awesome. Are you staying on the River Walk? There are some good running routes down there.

Sharon Mann has some good weightlifting workouts…and she’s on ExerciseTV if you have that station. I used to just use up to 12.5 pound dumbbells at home for her workouts and I was pretty sore after a lot of them!
Happy Monday!

What a yummy looking breakfast! With this beautiful weather (finally) where I am, I’m actually looking forward to the week too.

Like you, I need to really increase my strength training. It is such an amazing idea- especially for runners like us because stronger muscles aid in the prevention of injury.

Your breakfast (and bowl!) looks great!

Have a wonderful day! That’s exciting you get to go to San Antonio.
What is your official title at work?

Hey Meg

I really recommend the Body for Life program. It has a great, easy strength program! Most of the info is online too!

Love the new bowl!

San Antonio – I’m jealous! I’ve been having the itch to travel lately. I’m heading to Montauk (East end of Long Island) in June, but somewhere a little farther would be nice too. Are you, Kath, Jenna, and Caitlin still planning the blogger extravanganza for this summer?

17 Caitlin May 11, 2009 at 11:41 am

I love the Exercise TV options on OnDemand!

Have you ever looked at New Rules of Lifting for Women? It’s a pretty intense program, but I bet you could use the guidelines and moves and just make them your own. I finished the whole program and have nothing but good things to say about it. I still do some of their workouts 1-2 times a week.
