New Phone Please

by Meghann on May 6, 2009

Want to hear the definition of Irony?

My Mom has been attempting to cut down our cell phone bill by updating to an unlimited family data plan. I have been lusting after a new phone with e-mail capability for a while and by signing to the new contract I can hopefully upgrade to a new cool phone at a reasonable price on June 1st.

Well after discussing all this with my Mom, I hang up and notice my phone (which I have never had a problem with before) is doing a weird split screen with static on one side and enlarged letters on the other. I turn the phone on and off and I now present you with mirror image phone.

That photo is not altered in any way, my phone is literally reading backwards only seconds after I was discussing getting a new one. Do you think I hurt my phone’s feelings? If so I am very sorry phone and if you can just last until the end of May I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks!

Ha… At least I can still kind of read the screen, right? *knock on wood*

Maybe I can get a cool phone with a nice camera so that I can take quick photos with it. But, until they make an 8 mp camera phone I will just have to keep lugging around Nikki the Nikon to get some amazing shots like this.

Oh, yeah the Frosted Mini Wheats really know how to work the camera. :) I had this mini box around 3:00 for my mid-afternoon snack.

And while I was on the phone with my mom this evening I was snapping fresh Green Beans for my dinner.

I LOVE fresh Steamed Green Beans. I like to steam them for only a couple of minutes so they still have that crispy, fresh taste to them.

Fresh Steamed Green Beans pairs nicely with the salmon I baked in the oven.

I coated it with a Soy Peanut Sauce then baked at 450 for 20 minutes. It was very simple and very tasty.

Lastly I had another 1/4 of the Trader Joe’s Rice Pilaf from yesterday.

It was a very well rounded meal.

1/2 plate of veggies and 1/4 plate each of carbs and protein. Looks balanced to me! :)

Dessert was a Trader Joe’s Molasses Cookie.

Mmmmmm….. Love those Molasses cookies.

My Twin Bro just called to say he was currently shopping for a new phone after talking to Mom this evening about the plan switch. Looks like good new travels fast. :)

A Mess

by Meghann on May 6, 2009

As I was leaving my apartment today I took a good look around and came to the total realization just how messy apartment has gotten in the past couple of weeks. There are boxes piled up by the door, clean clothes needing to be folded, food that I need to find a space for in the cupboard, Abbie’s trail of white puff destruction all over the floor and so on and so on.

But I swear I have a good excuse!

I guess going and going non-stop for the last three weeks with no visitors is the best excuse I can come up with. Sadly, that’s how my schedule is going to remain for the next month! Being a grown up and living on your own is harder then I thought. I am going to suck it up and tackle my apartment this evening and see how far I get. For me having roommates always sucked, but at least they always forced me to have a clean house. :)

Oddly my motivation to clean my apartment has no effect on my motivation to make wonderful yummy food.

I took my lackluster meal left overs from last night and did what I do best with leftovers… turned it in to something new and completely different!

I started by making an Open Faced Tempeh, BBQ Sauce and Mango Sandwich on a piece of Publix Multi Grain Bread and toasting it under the broiler for a couple of minute.

OMG! This was good!! The mango really complimented the BBQ sauce so well and gave it a nice sweet kick.

On the side I had the left over Roasted Veggie Mix.

There were a tad more vegetables left over then I thought when I emptied the container on to the plate. Smart Meghann would have put half of the vegetable back for another date, but the hungry at the time Meghann thought she could handle.

Moral of the story is, always listen to smart Meghann because now my skirt is uncomfortably tight thanks the large amount of fiberiffic veggies. Oh well.

Mid-Morning I snacked on a serving of TJ’s Peanut Butter Pretzels.

I realized I didn’t get my fix of these yesterday and that made me sad. :( But eating a serving today made me happy. :)

San Diego Meet Up….

I know it’s not until the end of the month, but I am trying to get some numbers together to see if any of my San Diego readers are interested in meeting up for dinner on Friday, May 29th?  It’s the Friday before my marathon and I would sure enjoy the company and support!

E-mail me at graduatemeghann@gmail.com and let me know! :)

Green Monster Perfection

May 6, 2009

Taking a cue from my Dad’s Facebook Status I am going to wish everyone a Happy Hump Day! Since Wednesday are a good halfway point through out the week I like to dedicate it my speedwork day. This morning I jumped on the treadmill and did intervals of 7.0, 7.5 and 8.0. It was a more »
