In Tallahassee

by Meghann on April 30, 2009

I made it to Tally!

It’s always so surreal to return to my old stomping grounds. Everything is always the same, but completely different. I had so much fun here in college and it’s sad to know it will never be the same.

I had quite a load of work to catch up on before I headed out of town, so I did not to leave as early as I was hoping to. Around 3:30 I tried this great Kind Bar Caroline had given me last week.

It was chock full of nuts & seeds, binded by a nice sweet filling. I really liked it.

I also had the last of my Strawberries.

We finally left my parent’s house around 6:00pm. 5 of us piled into the expedition and headed north. I happily sat in the back and watched Pretty in Pink for the first time. I have to say, not my favorite John Hughes movie.

My hunger was slowly building and around 7:00 I knew I was not going to make another hour to dinner time. I dug into my emergency snack supply and had a Boysenberry Dried Fruit Bar.

Not sure I would be able to tell the difference between a Boysenberry Fruit Bar and a Raspberry one, but it still tasted great and was able to take the edge off when we finally puled into Gainesville to eat at one of our favorite spots.

Rolls & Bowls is a trypical ‘fast food’ sushi joint where you stand there and watch while they put your food together.

I ordered a custom mini bowl with Steamed Brown Rice, Carrots, Cucumber, Shitake Mushrooms, Tuna & Tempeh. I also had a small order of Edaname on the side.

DSCN0462.JPG

I had ordered the Edaname to share with the table, but no one else seemed to understand the concept of the beans. My Dad even ate a whole one and then spit it out. He said it tasted awful. Oh well, you can’t win them all. :) I ended up eating half of the edaname my self and the majority of my bowl.

When we made it to my Sister’s a couple hours later she had Ice Cream and Beer waiting for us. I turned down a beer, but I’m never one to turn down Ice Cream so I had a small bowl of Edy’s Thin Mint Ice Cream.

It was ok. I am slowly discovering how much I really don’t care for chocolate Ice Cream. Don’t get me wrong, I can eat vanilla ice cream until the cows come home, but chocolate just doesn’t do it for me. I start off eating it thinking its going to be great, but by the end I am not so happy with each bite and my stomach hates me. The funny thing is I always forget I don’t like chocolate ice cream until this point, I guess I am just in denial.

Almost as soon as we walked in the door, Kelly was desperate to rip open her graduation present.

My parents got her a new Mac!

So now I get to teach her all of the cool stuff that comes along with it. I have already taught her how to open office…lol

Now its late and I am exhausted. I am hoping to squeeze in a quick Yoga session in the morning. Good night!!

Super Salad

by Meghann on April 30, 2009

I seriously just had the best salad ever for lunch.

DSCN0442

I actually created it last night, while trying to empty my fridge of all my fresh produce before I high tail it out of town this weekend. I was drooling as I was making it in anticipation of consuming it today

The contents:

I also topped it with a tablespoon of this little baby.

It was heaven in a bowl! I really loved the addition of the Sausage and Cheese. The small amount of those components really made a difference. ;)

DSCN0443

I also sampled a new bag of FoodShouldTasteGood chips with some TJ’s Peach Salsa on the side.

This bag of chips was rather difficult to open.

When I was in Colorado a couple months back, I noticed some of the products at the air expanding problem associated with them. With our sea level stats here, you don’t see much of this in Florida.

The chips were really seedy, which is good because I like them that way. :)

Somehow this Reeses Peanut Butter Egg ended up in my lunch bag as well this morning.

DSCN0450

Caroline you are both evil and too kind to send me back to Florida with a handful of these. Reeses is definitely one of my favorite candies!

For my snack midmorning I had Peanut Butter Pretzel Crack.

11 nuggets per serving is simply not enough! Good thing I preportioned my snack this morning and my bag was way back at my apartment and out of reach. ;)

I am very excited to leave work this afternoon and start the long trek up to Tallahassee to watch my Sister receive her diploma tomorrow evening! Only a few more hours until I get to see her beautiful face!

A Year’s Supply of Ice Cream

April 30, 2009

Speedwork was on my training schedule for this morning. I had no urge what so ever to hop on a treadmill this morning and experience hamster in a ball syndrome so instead I went with an old stand by and busted out my Tennis Court Boot Camp Routine. My Team in Training Coach had preached more »
