Pizza Bagels

by Meghann on April 28, 2009

“ Pizza in the morning,

Pizza in the evenin’,
Pizza at suppertime!
When pizza’s on a bagel,
You can eat pizza anytime! “

Who remembers that catchy 90s commercial? I remember every time I saw it I would beg my Mom to buy Bagel Bites, unfortunately (fortunately?) my parents were never ones to buy frozen meals or snacks so I would have to relish my Bagel Bites at friend’s houses. They were good though!

I was really craving a Pizza Bagel today and had actually been dreaming about it at work. Unfortunately when I made it to my kitchen to prepare lunch I discovered the Swiss Cheese I wanted to use was moldy and the pasta sauce had disappeared. So I did what I did best and improvised!

I used a small Wheat Alternative Bagel then topped it with Trader Joes’s Tomato Chutney, Brie Cheese from my Long Beach Thank You Basket, Mushrooms and Jalapenos. I put the Pizza Bagels under the broiler for about 5 minutes, until the cheese was somewhat melty.

It was good!!!! Improvising always leads to creative delicious dishes that are so fun. I love it!

With my Pizza Bagels I had left over Steamed Kale & Apple.

Don’t ask me why the apples turned purple. They do look pretty though.

And you can probably expect to see a serving of Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Pretzel with every lunch until they are all gone.

I can’t help it. They’re sooo good!!! At least I am limiting myself to one serving a day instead of downing the whole bag like the evil fat girl voice in the back of my head is telling me to do. lol

Before lunch I had a snack of a individually portioned bag of Trail Mix I had picked up at Trader Joes.

I loved all the single packs of trail mix they sold there!! It may not be the most environmentally friendly, but its definitely convenient. 🙂

What are some of your favorite commercial jingles that get stuck in your head? I can sing for you both the Big Red & Doublemint commercials, no problem. As well as Kit Kat and who could forget the Mentos? 🙂

There was a Christie’s Chewy cookie commercial that my best friend and I used to stand at the top of the stairs and sing for my Mom. (I’m not sure if it’s just a Canadian brand??)

Christie Chewy!
Christie Chewy!
Taste just like my Mom’s does.
The only one.
That’s so much fun.
The only one that tastes like Moooooooom’s does!

LOL.

18 Melissa S. April 28, 2009 at 3:02 pm

hahahha…i totally remember that song! i want a pizza bagel now! or just pizza for that matter!

19 Diane April 28, 2009 at 3:31 pm

evil fat girl voice? healthy eating can still happen when you eat the whole bag, it’s all about listening to your body. I really don’t like the idea of an ‘evil’ fat girl voice, I don’t think it’s a healthy or helpful way to think (especially for those who might be reading who are recovering from eating issues).

20 Julie April 28, 2009 at 3:34 pm

HAHA love those 90s commercials…how about the Ovaltine ones haha or the Koolaid hahahahaha
Those pizza bagels look awesomeee

21 Lauren April 28, 2009 at 3:45 pm

I definitely remember the Bagel Bites jingle – your pizza bagel looks much more yummy, though! I love brie cheese.

When I hear/see a commercial for Mattress Giant, I can’t get the jingly outta my head:

“OOoo ah, Ooo ah, only at mattress giant!”

22 Tiffany P April 28, 2009 at 3:46 pm

The Subway $5 dollar foot long song is always in my head. Darn advertising geniuses!!!

23 Danielle April 28, 2009 at 4:01 pm

I love commercial jingles and used to sing them all the time growing up, my cousin and I memorizied the order of a compilation cd commercial and sang bits of each son in the right order. we were such nerds!

24 Yasmin April 28, 2009 at 4:08 pm

You took mine-Mentos!

25 Amandaa April 28, 2009 at 4:11 pm

That plate looks to be filled with lots
yummy goodness!

Favorite jingle? Umm…the Skip It
commercials were always pretty
entertaining.

…And the very best thing of all!
Is there’s a counter on this ball-so try
and beat your very best score-it’s the
biggest fun of all.

(or something like that)
