Some mornings I get up and my mind starts throwing excuses to avoid my daily morning run. Other mornings I practically bounce out of bed, excited to tackle my run so early in the day.
This morning was a bouncing out of bed morning. 🙂
I think I was still on a high from yesterday’s run and wanted to see what I could accomplish again this morning. I knew I was going for a longer run so I tried to pace myself around 9:30. I ended up completing 7 miles in 1:05:36 and was able to finish with a smile on my face.
I am really finding the key to feeling great after runs is to do a nice stretch so as soon as I walked in the door I took to the floor and really stretched my legs. I even popped on Polly’s new Yoga for Upper Thighs and she had some great moves to stretch out the upper quads.
After a big run I was craving a big breakfast. Luckily I had some new cereals to try and review for you.
MyWayCereal.com sent me a coupon a couple of weeks ago to sample their product and with my slight obsession with cereal I jumped on the chance.
MyWayCereal.com is very similar to the MixMyGranola.com I reviewed a couple of weeks ago. It is a wonderful website where you can design and create your own cereal with mix-ins. You start with a base then can add fruit, nuts, and even some sweets.
MyWayCereal.com prides themselves on all organic ingredients with no artificial anything.
After making my initial order I have to admit there was quite a delay in receiving the cereal and when I did there was something a little off about my Mix-Ins.
Apparently they had mixed up mine and Missy’s from Missy Maintains order. They were very sorry about the mix up and encouraged me to keep her mix ins so that I would have more to review.
Unfortunately Missy Mix #2 contained Bananas but Missy’s Mix #1 was right up my ally.
The mix contained an Oh’ Os Base, Apples, Blueberries, & Choco-Cherries. I was expecting the Ohs to be similar to Cheerios but they weren’t at all. They were lighter and not sweet at all.
My Mixes arrived yesterday afternoon and I welcomed the new additions to my cereal routine.
My Graduate Meghann’s Mix contained Multi Grain Harvest, Dates, Mango, Flax Seed, Walnut & Sunflower Seeds.
This one was interesting as the flakes were not sweetened at all. There was not as much dried fruit as I would have liked and I never found a sunflower seed. Maybe they sunk to the bottom? I did enjoy the crunchiness of the cereal and the chunks of walnut.
Meg’s Crunchy Mix had a Vanilla Granola Crunch Base, Apple, Currants, Coconut & Crystalized Ginger.
I really liked the Granola Base and how much fruit and coconut there was interspersed throughout the granola. However, I don’t know what I was doing adding crystalized ginger to my mix. I’m not a big fan of raw ginger so why would I like the crystalized from. It added a lot of spice to the mix which I guess if you are a big fan of ginger then it’s ok.
My bowl with 1/2 cup of all the above mixes, Black Berries, Strawberries, Vanilla Chobani, & Naturally Nutty Chocolate Butter Toffee Peanut Butter.
These cereal pieces were sooo crunchy. I really enjoyed it and because there is no additional sweeteners added to the cereal it was not overpowering and complimented the sweetness of the fruit and yogurt perfectly.
If you would like to create and order your own mix of cereal then head on over to MyWayCereal.com and use the coupon code GRADUATEMEGHANN for 10% off your entire purchase. 🙂 Try it out, its fun!
Hooray for getting out of bed with ease and for a great cereal/granola mixture!!
Thanks for the coupon too!!
HAPPY TUESDAY!!
that stinks about the mix up, but extra cereal is always good 🙂
I love crystallized ginger, but would never think to have it in cereal.
hi all –
I am attending a co-workers birthday lunch today, and she chose “Five Guys Burgers and Fries” (http://www.fiveguys.com/menu.aspx)! The menu is VERY limited and the nutritional facts (posted on the site) are not pretty. Any suggestions on what I should order without looking like the group health freak?
Thanks!
yaaay on getting out of bed and accomplishing such a great run!
hmm… thanks for the review about the cereal! i’m not sure if it would be something that i would look into, since it appears that if there isn’t any fruit, then the cereal would be almost tasteless. :/
anyways! your bowl of cereal looks deeeelish with the fruit! 😀 have a great day meghann!
i thought it funny when I read her post about the mix up!! I loved the MyWayCereal that I tired…but then again I am a cereal freak, so it would be hard to disappoint me. 🙂
I have been dying to try my way cereal, such an awesome product idea. I too love that the add ins are unsweetened and natural. You bfast looks like an ice cream sundae!
yay for energetic mornings! Gotta love em. Sounds like a great run followed by a very delicious looking breakfast!!
Great job on the run! 🙂
Thanks for the info on the cereal. I’m the same with ginger. I always think I’ll like it so I give it a try but it’s always waaay too spicy for me.
Shame these dont deliver to the UK (or Greece)…
They look so great! But u always have such fab ideas xx
Kiki from http://bettyscuisine.blogspot.com/
Hmm… we might need to try some custom cereal
That’s cool that they let you keep the mixed up cereal. I have to say that your mix sounds awfully good!
cereal is probably my fav food…ever! but this seems so pricey. this is an awesome concept, altho i see myself just using my box of my favorite flakes and buying my own add-ins at the bulk bins.
was this stuff good enough to splurge on in the future?
Gotta love those days that you’re just up and at ’em!! Fun granola 🙂
Great job on your run this AM! I am amazed at how much you get done in the AM 🙂
Glad you enjoyed my mix without the bananas!! I am still waiting on mine to arrive! I tried your first mix last night and loved it 🙂 Good choice!
Oh man… Oh’s.
In high school, when I could eat whatever I wanted and not have to worry about what it would do to my butt, I would take a box of Oh’s to school every now and then and eat it in class.
You can’t really find them in grocery stores around here, but when I find them–I buy them. 🙂

I also don’t know why it posted that twice… I only clicked the button once. So weird.
Great job on the run! I love it when I wake up completely ready to go out and do my run!
Wow, I am so impressed with your running! I decided to do the San Francisco 1/2 marathon in July and I am scared out of my mind! I am such a slow runner and then I think that I mentally sabotage myself and I stop running and have to walk a bit. I started at nothing and I did do 7 miles last weekend, but about 25 minutes longer than it took you! I am not looking for a 9 minute mile, but if I could get to a 10 or 10.5 that would be huge for me! Anyway, you always inspire me with your running so thanks for that!
Those cereals look great! What a fun idea to be able to make your own cereal combo!
I’m picky about cereal so I may have to try out the custom mix. I can overdo it on granola so I haven’t been tempted to try that out…but cereal…hmm. Thanks for the review! And great job on the run 😀
Great run, sister! I love it when you are having such a perky morning!
Awesome run. Love the cereal reviews! All that fruit looks great too
hi sweetie!! YAY for a great run AND some yummers yoga. 🙂 XOXO
Your cereal looks soooooo delish. Love ya, cute Meghann!!
Your bowl looks great! Awesome AM run, too.
Thanks for the review and GREAT run!!
Glad your run went good!
Your cereal looks so delicious!!! Especially with all the fresh fruit on top.
Is Abbie still eating and drinking as normal? She could just have an upset tummy or something from all the extra food. 🙂
what a mix, there are so many eats in your breakfast this morning!
yay for getting your cereals!
I really love all these customizable website. It’s kind of cool that they mixed up your mixes, because now you have 2 extras 🙂 … I’m sure someone in your life won’t mind a little cereal present with bananas.
