My First Pure Bar

by Meghann on April 13, 2009

The ever elusive PURE bars have finally found their way into my life.

Well, atleast one has. :)

Abbie had placed a Chocolate Brownie PURE Bar in my Runner’s Easter Basket and I was very excited to finally try the bar as my snack this afternoon.

I have heard mix reviews of the bar. They are very similar to Larabars and seem to have the same reputation. Some hate them and some love them. I honestly was a bit scared during m first bite, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was very rich and reminded me of a Little Debbie’s Brownie. It was thick, dense and very chewy.

I am interested to try other flavors of the bar in the future, but for now I am happy to have a second Chocolate Brownie Pure Bar waiting for me in the pantry. :)

Thanks again Abbie for all of the goodies!

Easter Lunch left overs once again played a big role in my dinner tonight. :)

My Aunt had baked a TON of sweet potatoes for Easter and as I was being encouraged to take my weight in food home with me yesterday Kath’s Nutty Vanilla Sweet Potato & Kale Soup immediately flashed in my head.

Tonight I re-created Kath’s soup but with the addition of Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Onion. It was just as delish as the last time I made it and was truly the perfect way to use up the baked sweet potatoes.

With the soup I also had 2 small piece of Publix Whole Wheat Toast that I accidentally let go to long in the toaster.

I had been toting around one of Jasmine’s Chocolate Chip Coconut Blondie with me all weekend and as I was unpacking my traveling food stash I knew this was going to be my dessert this evening.

It was slightly smooshed, which honestly made it a little better.

Now I am off to finish up some laundry and unload the dish washer. Could my Monday night be anymore exciting? lol

that soup looks so good! and I am a HUGE pure bar fan, and I don’t like Lara bars too much! I think lots of food tastes better smooshed! I used to love smooshed wonderbread and bologna sandwiches(eek I can’t believe I just admitted that!)

What are the ingredients in Pure bars? Are they heavily date-based like the Lara bars?

that sweet potato kale soup looks really nice and hearty – I think i’m gong to make that sometime this week. Everything I have ever made per your recipes has been amazing!

hope you have a great night =)

Yeah for some reason, I don’t have any desire to try these bars. They don’t seen that different from Larabars, which I like but don’t make my heart sing like they do for others.

That blondie, on the other hand…I’d be all over that :-)

PureBar recently bestowed on me a sampler and so far i am a fan! i’ve only tried the cranberry orange, but it reminded me of a Larabar (which i also really like) yet had slightly more complex flavors and a bit more staying power.

hi all -

I am attending a co-workers birthday lunch today, and she chose “Five Guys Burgers and Fries” (http://www.fiveguys.com/menu.aspx)! The menu is VERY limited and the nutritional facts (posted on the site) are not pretty. Any suggestions on what I should order without looking like the group health freak?

Thanks!

Glad you liked the Pure Bar. I must admit that I did not for some reason, and I still can’t figure out why. Something about taste.

It’s interesting to see how different our tastebuds are!

No way – I made that soup last night too! I also paired it with the biscuits you made last time. We must be on a wavelength. :) SO GOOD! I like your addition of sundried tomatoes – that would be really good. I loved the soup made straight from the recipe, but I think it will be fun to play with in the future!

Hey Meghann, this is a random question…Where do you get your running shorts/spandex? In your race picture you, your sister, and caitlin had them on, and they look really comfortable.
Thanks!
