This morning was my final day of my 30 Day Shred Challenge.
In review I committed to take on the challenge for 30 days starting on March 10 (I added a couple days on the end for ones I had skipped during the actual 30 days). I set out to do the 20 minute everyday during the 30 day time frame. The first 10 days I started at Level 1, the second set moved on to Level 2 and the third ended on Level 3.
I found each work out equally as challenging and preferred to have the different levels rather then sticking to the same work out for 30 days straight. I like how short the work outs were so I could easily fit them into my daily routine, I found no problem squeezing them in after work or even completing it on days I had long runs.
There were some days I did just become too busy or was too tired from other work outs that I just did not have it in me to Shred. I do not regret taking those breaks and just shows that I’m not super women by any means. I also found it a little challenging trying to complete this challenge while training for my upcoming marathon, but it did force me to get some sort of strength training into my routine instead of the usual carido bad ass I am.
Results?
I wish I had taken measurements or taken before and after shots for you, but I don’t own measuring tape and I am the worst at taking self timed photos. I always cut a body part off or make it at such a weird angle that I never like the way I look, so you will have to take my word for it, but I really do see a difference! Especially in my lower abs where I swear there is a faint V there. (The picture to the side is from the beach a couple of weeks ago, smack dab in the middle of the challenge)
I would highly suggest doing the 30 day challenge if you have a special event you want to tone up for. Its quick, easy and you really do see results. My shoulders are well defined, the back of my arms don’t wiggle as much and I wear my back is so much stronger then ever before.
Future?
I really enjoyed the 30 day shred challenge, but I get bored so easily that I think 30 days is enough for me. I really, really want to keep up with the results though so I think I will take a break from this particular video and explore other options to keep myself motivated. Jillian has a whole line of other videos I am dying to try.
I also like the idea of a challenge to keep myself motivated. Does anyone have a suggestion for another easy to follow work out challenge where all it takes is 20 minutes out of my day for 30 minutes? I am open for suggestions!!

I woke up extra early this morning so I would have time to shred, shower and finish packing for the weekend. I overestimated my time needed, so I ended up with a little extra to make a fancy schmancy Friday morning breakfast.
I made some lovely French Toast out of Publix Multigrain Whole Wheat Bread. I dipped the pieces in a mixture of Egg Whites, Lemon Curd, Cinnamon and Vanilla Extract before placing them on the griddle. I then topped them with Strawberries, Sugar Free Syrup and a spoonful of Pecan Praline Granola.
It was a very yummy treat indeed and very out of my normal routine. I have to say though, I was deeply missing the appearance of my morning yogurt. I guess I will just have to sneak some in in another part of the day. 😉
youre the bomb, obvi!
excited for tonight!
congrats on finishing all 30 days. I really like Jackie Warner’s video, she has 3 20 minute workouts (one legs, one arms, one core). I find it challenging and might be a good one to try next!
lemon curd french toast… wow!!
congrats on your shred success, and enjoy the weekend!
I’m on day 10 of the shred, glad to hear it’s worth it. 🙂
hi im a regular reader of yours but havent commented before, but i thought i would today to tell you how much i love reading your blog 🙂
breakfast looks great!
everyone seems to be raving about that shred dvd, so much so that im considering trying it
have a nice friday 🙂
wow congrats on finishing! you are SHREDDED!
Nice shred review, and that french toast brekkie looks so easy and quick and delicious!
Thanks for the review. I’m only on Level 1 but I love it!
I thought about French toast for breakfast today too…Now I just HAVE to have it soon!
hope your day goes well!
Great review! I’m loving Shredding…I just need to do it more often!
Woohooo! I might start a 30 day shred challenge!
awesome! I’ve been enjoying have “the shred” on you tube!
Great review and experiences!!
HAPPY FRIDAY!!
Mmm good addition of lemon curd!
I’m on level 2 of the shred and so far, your sentiments reflect exactly how I feel about it too. I’m going to check back to see if other readers have suggestions for more 20-min toning workouts. I really like how quick they are yet I really feel like I’m getting a good workout in!
Your breakfast looks so fancy and yum! (ok…maybe cuz I just worked out and now I’m hungry for breakfast).
Happy Friday 🙂
Hi Meghann,
I love my workout dvds!
I got shred for xmas and it did get a little old after a while.
I recommend:
Exhale Core Fusion Body Sculpt, it has 5 10 minute sections: abs, butt, legs, stretch and sculpt and arms, so you could mix and match for variety. It is challenging, but the time flies by!
Results Fitness 10 days to a better body: this is two 30 minute segements, similiar to the shred, a little longer though
Shape Bikini Body Bootcamp Redefining Workout. This is 2 30 minute segments also, but really fun. It also comes with a dyna band. Shape has a lot of strength only videos that are probably good, but I haven’t tried them.
gorg. bkfast!
Way to go for doing the Shred for the full 30 days!!! That’s awesome that you can see a difference!
Breakfast looks so good today!!!
Wow, great job with the shredding!!
I think I’m just going to have to commit and do the 30 days…dangit. I’ve only ever done Level 1 and I think it’d be hard to move to Levels 2 and 3 without working my way up to them…we’ll see if it happens!!
We should do a Jillian video swap. I only have the shred, which I think everyone in the world has, but um I would trade someone.
Way to crank out Jillian! She’s so intense, haha, have you ever watched her on The Biggest Loser? .. Eeek! Way to do all 30 days … It’s more then I can do, because like you, I have to change it up! If you own the DVD and aren’t ready to retire it forever, I found that doing level 1 and 3 back to back make for a pretty decent workout, then 1 and 2, then 3 and 2, etc.
Yummy breakfast, too!
Have you thought about incorporating some core work? It only takes me about 20 minutes a day and has help my running so so much. It helps me pretty much stay injury free, minus the normal aches and pains. Plus it makes me strong 🙂
I just started it this week, I definitely want to try and keep up with it and see what results I get!
Great review and nice job with The Shred! I might just have to jump on the bandwagon soon. Breakfast looks great. Yummm, french toast! 🙂
I am glad you loved it, I am with you I need another challenge:)
Great review! I do it sporadically but I think I am going to do it the 30 days leading up to my wedding after picking up some heavier weights!
Yum lemon curd!
French toast is a perfect breakfast for Friday 🙂
I think I may try to get 30 Day Shred to tone up my arms/back for my wedding!
Thanks for your review! I think you just convinced me to get it. I’ll have to look for a used copy to buy somewhere because the wedding budget won’t allow for major spending hehe.
I got mine at Target for $12 I think! 🙂
Mine was $9 at k-mart!
Good job on the shred, you look awesome! Also…I am a yogurt fanatic and when I make pancakes or french toast I top it with a Chobani instead of syrup. It’s much more filling than maple syrup and it tastes sooo good. You should try it! =)
I have a hard time getting the Shred in too. Therefore… I am still on Level 1. I am so excited you made it through it!
Great job Meg!! Food looks great and nice commitment to finish the shred
Thank you for the review on the Shred. I have it on hold at the library. I’m looking forward to trying it after seeing how much people enjoy it.
I’ve been trying to challenge myself to do yoga everyday, which I find has a good strength component in the more power-style classes.
I’m also doing the push-up (http://hundredpushups.com/) and sit-up (http://www.twohundredsitups.com/) challenge which only take about 5-10 minutes every other day. They’re really simple but they make sure that I don’t completely slack on core training.
Hi! I am also doing the 30 day shred. I’m glad to see that you were able to complete it! I’m on day 10 (but 7 of shredding). Pretty good workout for 20 minutes. I did take before and after photos and measurements, and after 30 days I’m going to post them on my blog. I update it everyday about the shred, if you want to check it out. Anyhoot, congrats on finishing!
This is kind of a late response but I’ve been doing 4 ab exercises for the past month (usually only 2x per week) and I’m amazed at the changes I’m seeing…usually I do ab work pretty frequently but never see a difference, so this is a nice change! 🙂 Let me know if you’d like more details and I can email them to you!
That breakfast looks amazing. I found your site through a google search for 30 Day Shred reviews. But the pictures of your french toast have convinced me to browse a bit. Hope I find other yummy, healthy meal ideas! I need ’em. I’m trying to lose my baby weight.
I’m so glad to hear someone else with good results from this. I just started a 30 day challenge with this (on day 3) and hopefully I’ll see the same results.
Great Results! Keep up the good work!
