High School Was How Long Ago?

by Meghann on April 7, 2009

For my senior year of high school I made a slideshow of my friends and I to play at my graduation party. Now this was back in the day before digital cameras were all the craze and scanners were the cool thing. I scanned in a couple hundred pictures by hand and it took me forever.

That slideshow went forgotten for the last 6 or 7 years (wait how long ago was I a senior?) Well, anyways when I was at home this weekend I unearthed the long forgotten slideshow and burned a copy to bring home with me. Its hilarious to see all the pictures and even though I swear it wasn’t too long ago, its amazing how much our styles in clothes have changed as well.

For your viewing pleasure, a quick trip down Memory Lane.

This picture was my friend Allison, myself, Rachel and April gearing up for Junior Homecoming.

I was best friends with these girls in school and its sad that I am honestly not sure what any of them are up to at the moment. Its sad, really.

This is me, my Dad and my Twin Bro at Senior night at our last football game.

I was a Varsity Cheerleader and my Twin Bro played the trombone in the band. Do we scream all american family or what? πŸ™‚

This was taken at a random bight at Wal-Mart with the besties Allison and April.

Who remembers wearing fun belts with jeans? Gag me! Not any more, thank you. Is anyone else from a small town where they ended up at Wal Mart on Friday nights because it was the only thing open?

Last here is my senior portrait.

Don’t I look all sweet and innocent? Oh, youth… I miss you!

Ok now we can head back to our regular scheduled blogging. Thanks for going on a trip down memory lane with me.

This afternoon’s snack was a 2 parter.

Part 1:

DSCN3634.JPG

An assortment of dried fruit. They were all yummy, but very sugary. Must remember to limit dried fruit to a couple pieces at a time.

Part 2:

DSCN3635.JPG

An Original & Blueberry PistachiOats cookie. Yum! I love how filling these little cookies are. πŸ™‚

Dinner tonight was another one of my ‘throw what ever looks good in the pan’ creations.

DSCN3636.JPG

Tonight’s creation included

  • Eggplant
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Tofu
  • Asparagus
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Jalapeno Diced Tomatoes
  • Pumpkin & Sage Orzo

Basically while the orzo was boiling in one pan, I heated up everything else in the other until the eggplant was soft and the tofu was chew.

DSCN3640.JPG

The dish was slightly spicy with a refreshing cooling from the cilantro. I loved it.

I decided to try a Pom Spritzer as well.

DSCN3643.JPG

Yuck! I think I put to much Pom in this, will have to go for just a splash next time.

And you know one of the Naturally Nutty Nut Butters had to be incorporated in my dessert tonight. πŸ™‚

DSCN3645.JPG

I had a nice dollop of the Chocolate Butter Toffee Peanut Butter on top of a 1/2 cup serving of Edy’s Slow Churned Samoas Ice Cream. So good, so good, so good!! YUM!

I love all your highschool photos! I love looking back on all of my high school photos. I have to admit, I ended up at Walmart on weekend nights occasionally as well, haha πŸ˜€

3 Sarah April 7, 2009 at 7:21 pm

Are Alison and April twins? AND
Were you just friends with them because you are also a twin? AND
Can I be friends with you even though I’m not a twin? πŸ˜‰

4 Meghann April 7, 2009 at 7:24 pm

Allison and April are not twins. Looking back I never realized how the three of us really all looked like. We even had the same bod types.

And you can be my friend no matter what! πŸ™‚

5 VeggieGirl April 7, 2009 at 7:30 pm

SO FUN!! πŸ™‚

6 Wiggs April 7, 2009 at 7:31 pm

HAHA you were so cute!! I’m from a small town, too – we used to end up at Safeway late at night, followed (sometimes) by the adult superstore 20 minutes down the highway. Yep. Classy. At least we weren’t drinking and doing drugs and getting pregnant.

7 iowagirleats April 7, 2009 at 7:39 pm

Oh no, I totally had those dumb belts with like silver studded holes…so shameful!!

8 ksgoodeats April 7, 2009 at 7:46 pm

A little POM goes a long way with the spritzers! Cute pics – you’re braver than I am πŸ˜‰

9 sweetandnatural April 7, 2009 at 7:54 pm

12 Amandaa April 7, 2009 at 8:08 pm

I love memories. It’s fun looking back!

That dried fruit looks yummy. But I don’t
know how I’d feel about all the sugary
flavoring.

13 Meg April 7, 2009 at 8:37 pm

14 inmytummy April 7, 2009 at 8:41 pm

You don’t even want to know how long ago I was in high school! Ahh.

We used to hang out at 7-11.

15 runsarah April 7, 2009 at 8:42 pm

Love the photos! I think we are a similar age and I remember those grommet belts being all the rage in grade 12, I still have mine somewhere.

16 snackface April 7, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Awww omg high school! Your pics are too cute! I love seeing how fashion has changed, too. It’s crazy. I highly enjoyed the naturally nutty review this afternoon, by the way. Now I need to try my hardest not to spend the little money I have on nut butters πŸ™‚ Have a great night!

17 Red Head, Yellow Dog April 7, 2009 at 9:07 pm

Awwwh, what cute pictures!!!!

23 Victoria April 7, 2009 at 9:25 pm

Fun memories. I’m kind of the opposite. I really have like no recollection of high school. Seems like a million years ago. I guess because I left when I was only 16.

24 Adie April 7, 2009 at 9:34 pm

You have a twin brother?? Me too!
And we both were in band (me drums, him clarinet)…and ran cross country and track. Good times!

25 Hangry Pants April 7, 2009 at 9:38 pm

You really look very similar to back then!

I was a cheerleader as well and we also had maroon and white unforms.

The walmart thing is too funny. We didn’t do that, but we did do late night taco bell runs!

26 Jenny April 7, 2009 at 9:41 pm

Ahh yup…Small town girl right here!

Walmart was where we’d go and just sit on the benches and walk around. Weird….but oh so much fin back in the day. *sigh*

27 Rose April 7, 2009 at 9:56 pm

OMG! Belts! I had so many in the 90s/early 2000s.

28 Mica April 7, 2009 at 9:59 pm

31 Andrea [bella eats] April 7, 2009 at 10:33 pm

Haha…I have one of those slideshows that a friend and I put together for our senior graduation party too. Except that mine is on a VHS tape and I no longer have a VCR to play it on. Man, I’m old.

Congrats on another successful bake sale!!!

32 Rachel in NC April 7, 2009 at 10:35 pm

The tofu dish looks great!

33 Jenn (eating bender) April 7, 2009 at 11:32 pm

I loved taking a trip down your memory lane! Sadly, since my parents moved to Arizona, I have not been back to my hometown in more than 2 years and have lost touch with a lot of my high school friends. Bobby is the only tie I have to my roots, now! I guess he’s ok πŸ™‚

Love your dinner! Congrats again on an amazing bake sale!

34 wholefoodswholeme April 8, 2009 at 2:09 am

love those pics!! it is so fun to look back at the various fashions we went through πŸ˜€ i went through a truly embarrassing “grunge” phase that i really do not care to even reminisce about!! you do look adorable in that last pic!

great impromtu dinner as always!

35 Alison April 8, 2009 at 6:24 am

Love the h.s. pics. I graduated 10 years ago (so hard to believe!). I only keep in touch with one high school friend. I keep in vague contact with everyone through Facebook, but I’m not close with any of them. I think that’s pretty common. Now college friends on the other hand…I’ll keep in touch with some of them always.

I especially love the senior portrait!

36 Julie April 8, 2009 at 6:28 am

Oh high waisted jeans and belly shirts, I do not miss you! I love looking at old high school pictures…the fashion and hair (for me it was bangs) make me cringe. It seems like it was yesterday…but I graduated almost 10 years ago…yikes.

37 diana April 8, 2009 at 6:37 am

Looks like you have some great friends and great memories!

38 Elina April 8, 2009 at 7:45 am

Fun pics!
I’m SOOOO excited I won the giveaway! πŸ˜€
Haha, Julie’s comment above just reminded me of all the belly shirts I used to wear. Yeah, good times πŸ˜‰

39 Meg April 8, 2009 at 12:56 pm
