High School Was How Long Ago?

by Meghann on April 7, 2009

For my senior year of high school I made a slideshow of my friends and I to play at my graduation party. Now this was back in the day before digital cameras were all the craze and scanners were the cool thing. I scanned in a couple hundred pictures by hand and it took me forever.

That slideshow went forgotten for the last 6 or 7 years (wait how long ago was I a senior?) Well, anyways when I was at home this weekend I unearthed the long forgotten slideshow and burned a copy to bring home with me. Its hilarious to see all the pictures and even though I swear it wasn’t too long ago, its amazing how much our styles in clothes have changed as well.

For your viewing pleasure, a quick trip down Memory Lane.

This picture was my friend Allison, myself, Rachel and April gearing up for Junior Homecoming.

I was best friends with these girls in school and its sad that I am honestly not sure what any of them are up to at the moment. Its sad, really.

This is me, my Dad and my Twin Bro at Senior night at our last football game.

I was a Varsity Cheerleader and my Twin Bro played the trombone in the band. Do we scream all american family or what? :)

This was taken at a random bight at Wal-Mart with the besties Allison and April.

Who remembers wearing fun belts with jeans? Gag me! Not any more, thank you. Is anyone else from a small town where they ended up at Wal Mart on Friday nights because it was the only thing open?

Last here is my senior portrait.

Don’t I look all sweet and innocent? Oh, youth… I miss you!

Ok now we can head back to our regular scheduled blogging. Thanks for going on a trip down memory lane with me.

This afternoon’s snack was a 2 parter.

Part 1:

An assortment of dried fruit. They were all yummy, but very sugary. Must remember to limit dried fruit to a couple pieces at a time.

Part 2:

An Original & Blueberry PistachiOats cookie. Yum! I love how filling these little cookies are. :)

Dinner tonight was another one of my ‘throw what ever looks good in the pan’ creations.

DSCN3636.JPG

Tonight’s creation included

  • Eggplant
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Tofu
  • Asparagus
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Jalapeno Diced Tomatoes
  • Pumpkin & Sage Orzo

Basically while the orzo was boiling in one pan, I heated up everything else in the other until the eggplant was soft and the tofu was chew.

The dish was slightly spicy with a refreshing cooling from the cilantro. I loved it.

I decided to try a Pom Spritzer as well.

DSCN3643.JPG

Yuck! I think I put to much Pom in this, will have to go for just a splash next time.

And you know one of the Naturally Nutty Nut Butters had to be incorporated in my dessert tonight. :)

I had a nice dollop of the Chocolate Butter Toffee Peanut Butter on top of a 1/2 cup serving of Edy’s Slow Churned Samoas Ice Cream. So good, so good, so good!! YUM!

Naturally Nutty Review

by Meghann on April 7, 2009

I basically had dessert for lunch today and it was fabulous. :)

The generous people over at Naturally Nutty sent me a couple of their famous nut butters to sample and review.

Each of their Naturally Nutty Nut Butters contain no Trans Fats, Hydronated Oils, or Cholesterol, while offering the additional health benefits of added Hemp Seed and Flax Seed. Each ingredient list is short and sweet, listing items I can pronounce and recognize.

When asked the select which flavors I was most interested in trying I was overwhelmed by all of the many wonderful flavors but eventually decided the Vanilla Almond Butter and Chocolate Toffee Peanut Butter were calling my name. I was stoked when the packaged arrived with the addition of the Regular Toffee Butter Peanut Butter as well. :)

I decided to sample each flavor as part of my lunch today. Slathering a little bit of each on their own slice of toast with a Strawberry Topper.

Vanilla Almond Butter

This vanilla almond butter has been described as "heavenly indulgence"! Why? Because it is our natural almond butter with pure vanilla powder that comes together perfectly!

DSCN3628

I knew this one was going to be my favorite which is why I gave the nut butter its own piece of toast. Boy I was right, this was good! It was the perfect amount of vanilla in the almond butter to give it just a hint of flavoring without going over the top. It was also very cream and easy to stir yet had a bit of crumbliness to it that made me know the nuts were freshly ground before packaging.

Toffee Butter Peanut Butter

Watch out….you will get hooked! This has been our best seller to date and is a favorite for kids. Your definition of "kid" may vary! Butter Toffee peanut butter is smooth with a little sugar and a little salt. You should probably order by the case!

DSCN3631

I can see why the Toffee Butter is a favorite! Its rich, sweet and a really good treat. As with all the nut butters I sampled, they reminded me of dessert. I can easily see topping these on cookies, ice cream or even trying them in my morning cereal.

Chocolate Butter Toffee Peanut Butter

Gourmet milk chocolate plus our famous Butter Toffee Peanut Butter equals singing and skipping with friends and strangers! (you will understand after you try it)  We never thought we would have to make so much of this stuff!

 DSCN3630

Now this peanut butter was treat! The perfect blend of chocolate and peanut butter that had me licking every last drop off of the knife and my hands. Another dessert item I can’t wait to sample in other ways. The only down size to the this particular one was the longer ingredient list then the others.

So there is my review these nut butters are great and if you are looking to change up your typical nut butter routine I highly suggest checking out Naturally Nutty Almond Butter and Peanut Butters! They have a great sample pack for sale for a very reasonable price so you have the option to sample many of their wonderful flavors. ;)

On the side of my lunch I had 2 whole Carrots and Apple slices, which I dipped in a dollop of each of my Naturally Nutty Nut Butters.

DSCN3625

Oh yea, these make for killer apple dipping!

Unfortunately as great as my lunch truly was it did not give me a full feeling at all, which meant I would be diving into my afternoon snack before I sat back at my desk, so I had a small serving of Vegan Tamale Pie to fill my belly up.

And before my great lunch I also had a serving of Peanuts as a mid morning snack.

I can not Thank You guys enough for all of your generosity concerning the bake sale! I have contacted about half of the highest bidders and will continue to contact more as the afternoon moves on.

April 7, 2009

All I can say is Wow! You guys are truly amazing!! I am sorry I never did any last minute bid updates, but I crashed at 10:00 last night before the bidding closed. That did not stop any of you though. I woke up to a flurry of activity in my inbox and all I more »
