Jam Packed Day

by Meghann on April 5, 2009

Wow! It has been a crazy jam packed, random weekend in Orlando. I have been on the go all day and am just now having a chance to sit down and enjoy some peace and quiet before the work week starts. At least I always know I’ve gotten everything I can out of my weekend. :)

The craziness started this weekend when Melissa and I took the boys on their first field trip to Ikea.

It took us over an hour to walk through the humongous store and pick out what we would want in our pretend future house.

I decided I need a neon fish net canopy over my bed in my future tropical paradise room.

And Melissa was desperately lusting after these bird curtains.

After gushing over all of the cool decorations we didn’t needs and spending more money then was appropriate on bowls and plates – hello new blog toys – we were famished and made a trip to Whole Foods.

I got 1.19 lbs of food from the Hot Bar and enjoyed every bite.

My favorite out of the bunch was the BBQ Seitan. I believe if you cover anything with BBQ Sauce its going to be fantastic! :)

After Whole Foods we said out good byes to Melissa and Brad then Derek and I randomly decided we were going to go Universal and purchase annual passes.

Actually the conversation went a little something like this…

Derek – “What do you want to know now.”

Me – “You know if we had those annual passes to Universal we could just go now.”

Derek – “Why don’t we.”

Me – ” Ok, Let’s do it!”

So at 3:00pm we went to Universal and purchased a 2-park Annual Pass.

They had a really good special going on that we could not resist. So, don’t worry we didn’t blow the bank. Plus, Derek and I decided this would be part of his birthday present (his birthday is on Wednesday!).

Derek had never been to Islands of Adventure before so I spent the rest of the afternoon introducing him to all this rides and just having a silly, fun time.

My favorite ride at Islands of Adventures is Spiderman. What’s yours?

(p.s. my hair was STRAIGHT this morning, gotta love that good ole Florida humidity)

Roller Coasters are how we roll.

Around 5:00 we bought an overpriced fruit cup and had a melon snack.

Look what I saw while I was in the park.

They had major construction going on for the new Harry Potter Island of the park (!!!) I can’t wait!!!

After a few hours of riding rides and playing tourist, Derek and I were ready to go home. We were both very hungry at this point and looking for something quick and simple for dinner. I pulled into Pita Pit on the way home and got a Whole Wheat Bobganosh Pita.

As always I loaded on the veggies. With the Bobganosh I had Tomatoes, Spinach, Cucumber, Mushrooms, Jalepenos,Red Onion, Black Olives, Feta & Oregano.

It was huge and oh so good. Just what I needed.

After a trip to Publix and a few moments of rest I had a full out sample of Jasmine’s Chocolate Chip Coconut Blondies.

Oh this baby was good!!

I hope you are all pumped for my Blogging Bake Sale tomorrow! Don’t forget it starts tomorrow morning at 11:00am sharp. Don’t be late! ;)

The Rule & Logistics

by Meghann on April 5, 2009

Are we ready for another Blogging Bake Sale?

Well we are less then 24 hours away and I could not be more excited! The bake sale kicks off tomorrow (Monday) at 11 am EST, but I again wanted to review the rules and logistics for the Baking Sale to keep everything fair and honest.

For those of you who have participated previously, the rules are going to remain pretty similar. Once I post all of the baked goods up for sale all buyers will then e-mail blogbakesale@gmail.com with a bid of what they would like to purchase. Each item has a minimum bid of $20 and all quantities for each goodie should be clearly marked in the description. Please let me know if there are any discrepancies.

To have an official bid on an item you must e-mail me at blogbakesale@gmail.com any bids left in the comments section will not be reviewed, only bids e-mailed will be considered official and affirmative.

Think of the bid as a silent auction of sorts. All buyers will have until midnight EST to submit their bid for that day’s auction. Throughout the day I will update the bottom of the designated bake sale post with the highest bid for the items at that moment. I am hoping this will encourage others to bid higher for the items they really want or bid for items that have not had a bid yet.

If by the time I close the auction there is a tie of bids for a particular item, lets say three people bid $40 for some brownies, then I will draw those names from the hat and have a random winner from that bid.

Once a reader has won the bid on an item they will then donate the specified amount to my TNT page, when they leave the donation they must put what they have won in the bake sale in the comments section. Once the donation goes through I will e-mail the baker the winner’s address and it will be the baker’s responsibility to send the baked goods to the winner.

The winner has 24 hours to make the online donation. If in that time frame the donation is not made, the next highest bidder will be contacted or the item will go back up for bid.

Each day over the week all of the baked goods still up for sale will be reposted in auction format until Friday, April 11th when the bake sale ends.

The majority of the baked goods up for bid are for U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY! However, there this time around there is a small group of Canadian bakers who are willing to spread the wealth with their fellow country men. This section will clearly be labeled CANADIANS ONLY and will only be open to Canadian residents.

Please remember that all proceeds from this bake sale go directly to my Team in Training efforts for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You will be supporting a great cause and are aiding in saving lives here.

Do these rules work for everyone? Please let me know if you have any questions about the Blogging Bake Sale and get excited! There are a ton of Baked Goods up for grabs this year and hopefully we’ll be able to raise some good money for a good cause. And get some sweet treats in the process!

Good Luck!
