Oh, The Hills!

This morning’s run was brutal! Not because I was tired or not feeling it, but because it was all about the hills! Which, for this Florida girl, is a big deal and a lot more effort. I loved it!

Before my run I wanted to make sure I had an adequate amount of fuel so I had a toasted multi-grain Eggo with Almond Butter and grapes on top.

For my TnT run this morning we met all the way in Claremont to take advantage of their rolling hill countryside. Of course the directions I printed off the night before were faulty and I ended up calling my parents in tears trying to figure out the right directions. I hate being late and I hate being lost.

Luckily I eventually found my way and even though most of the team had made their way on the trail there was another girl who had arrived late as well and knew where she was going. All I have to say is Thank God we were both late, because it turns out we were both running at the same pace and doing the same race. Ladies and gentle men, I found my running partner! YAY!!

Thanks to my new running partner I was able to tackle the hills with both of us pushing each other along the way. Without her I would not have been able to run ‘Big Bertha’ This actually has me very excited for future runs as well. πŸ™‚

We ended up doing 8 miles worth of hills and at the end I was exhausted and felt like I had accomplished a lot.

I enjoyed a nice orange on my 30 minute ride home back to my apartment.

When I got home I went immediately to the kitchen to start putting together a breakfast feast.

My breakfast had 3 parts.

Part #1: Fruit Salad

I made a fruit salad of fresh Pineapple, Apple, Grapes, & Strawberries with Vanilla Chobani and Lemon Curd.

Part #2: Blueberry Scone

The Easter Bunny brought this treat for me all the way from Greenwise in Tampa.

Part #3: Egg White w/ Pumpkin Butter

Totally random, but I was really craving an egg white. πŸ™‚

ugghh! I also hate being late and lost, especially when I feel like it’s my fault! I hate even more getting pulled over for speeding my two state troopers once I figure out the right way to go and need to hurry up! oops! hmm pumpkin butter and egg whites! I need to try this!

i’m so glad you found a running partner — that’s going to make all the training so much more enjoyable. awesome job on the hills this morning!

and now i desperately want fruit salad with lemon curd-yogurt sauce. i think i can make that happen πŸ™‚

Sorry about getting lost though!! I have the WORST sense of direction, so I’m always getting lost.

congrats on the 8 miler!! i bet your breakfast tasted amazing after that workout! the blueberry scone looks so yummy, and i love your homemade fruit salad idea…vanilla yogurt + lemon curd sounds delish!

I know exactly how you feel about being late and being lost, I react the same exact way!

I too hate getting lost – but it happens more often than not – I have a horrible sense of direction!

Not sure I agree with the pumpkin butter egg white, but that scone looks AMAZING! I should make some up this weekend – I have craisins I need to use up!

that’s awesome that you found your running partner!

I’ve wondered if the hills are why it’s taking me so long to get better? we don’t have ANY just flat places to run, so it’s always up and down on the road, in parks, everywhere.

I think 8 miles of hills is much worse than 12 miles of flat.

I also thing an egg white with pumpkin butter may be much worse than no egg white at all πŸ˜‰

I hate running hills. My husband’s from Utah and goes on and on about the wonder of hills. I’ll admit, you feel like you really accomplished something afterward…but its torture!

I love the idea of a waffle, almond butter, and grapes!

i’m so sorry you got lost, i hate that panicky feeling too – but it was obviously fate, since you found the running partner you were looking for! fantastic! you are such a fitness inspiration to me πŸ˜€

the breakfast looks peeeerfect. seriously can’t get much better than that.
