Sometimes you just need to indulge in treats and today has definitely been one of those days. ๐
With the sun shining bright and not a cloud in the sky I knew there was no way I was going to stay inside today. So as soon as I was done writing my morning post we packed up and headed out to the beautiful, upscale Park Ave of Winter Park.
First up was the Winter Park Farmer’s Market where I nibbled on a few free samples and filled my reusable bag with plenty of fresh veggies and fruit.
I also couldn’t resist a Macaroon that was calling my name.
Derek got the Chocolate Fudge Macaroon.
I couldn’t resist having a bite of his.
Look how cool it was inside!
After exploring the Farmer’s Market we walked up and down Park Ave, checking out the stores I can not afford and the restaurants that always make me drool. We met up with my parents on the road and they treated us for lunch at Bosphorous a Turkish Restaurant.
Everyone at the restaurant had these great dome plates of bread on their table, so we knew right away we had to order one as well.
We had the Dome bread (otherwise known as Lavas) with some Hummus.
You had to punch the bread down with a knife.
It was so hot and fresh. I definitely had a quarter of the loaf all to myself with the hummus.
I had never had Turkish food before so I wanted to try something different. I noticed part of the menu had Turkish Pitas, which I was told were similar to pizzas. This pretty much sold me.
Derek and I split the Ispanakli Pide or Turkish Style Spinach Pide.
It was very tasty and I’m glad I ordered it.
I also had a couple of pieces of my Dad’s Lamb dish. He really wanted to make sure I had a photograph of it for the blog. ๐
After Lunch I was Stuffed! But, somehow I still managed to have room a couple hours later to split a Non-Fat Vanilla Frozen Yogurt from Costco with Derek.
Frozen Yogurt is such a weakness of mine!
Baker’s Spotlight…
I was pleasantly surprised to have a package in my mailbox when I arrived home this afternoon.
Jasmine of Sweet and Fitwas kind enough to send me a sample batch of the Coconut Chocolate Chip Blondies she may or may not be baking for a lucky winner in the Blogging Bake Sale on Monday. ๐
My cousin, Angel, is going to be very happy that Jasmine sent these my way. She tried to bid on her blondies last bake sale but ended up being outbidded in the last minute. Angel, I promise to share these with you!
Unfortunately I was still stuffed from my FroYo to sample a whole Blondie myself, but my Dad happily volunteered.
He said they were wonderfully moist with just the right amount of Chocolate Chip and Coconut. He loved them!
I had a small bite of his and I have to agree, these are great!!! And I loved how she shipped them in tissue paper and individually wrapped, this makes it very easy to throw in the freezer for safe keeping.
Jasmine you have another Bake Sale winner!
Now my dear friend Melissa is over, making dinner before out night out on the town. We’re getting together with a big group of friends (including Caitlin) for a fun night out on the town. I can’t wait!

what a fun day! glad you had some nice weather!
Thank you for your post. It’s great to see that you have days where you indulge in plenty of treats. I feel like I eat pretty healthfully, but I definitely have days where I have lots of treats. Guilt inevitably accompanies, but it really shouldn’t. If we lead healthy lifestyles and get plenty of exercise, there’s nothing wrong with indulging occasionally. If we don’t forbid treats, it makes it a lot easier not to overdo it when treats appear. At least that’s what I try to remind myself.
Have a fun night tonight!
