Happy Friday!
Don’t you love it when the week just flys by? I think the key to a fast week is to plan fun activities during the week night to keep you entertained and distracted before the weekend. This week I had a TnT Social on Monday, dinner with Kristen on Tuesday, a walk & beer with Caitlin and Neely on Thursday, and before I knew it today is Friday and I am ready to start my weekend!
I love Fridays because they are usually my rest from running days so I get to sleep in an extra 30 minutes! (Trust me those extra 30 minutes make all the difference in the world!)
SO instead of running I did my daily dose of 30 Day Shred Level 2. I accidentally skipped it yesterday and oddly missed my daily dose of pain. But I have to tell you last night I noticed that I could see the ‘v’ in my obliques trying to break though. Nothing light the faint outline of abs to make me work harder then ever. After the 20 minute DVD I went back and did additional sit ups and oblique twists just to push my abs along a little bit farther. 🙂
I thrilled last week when Bobbi at N Her Shoes informed me that I was the winner of her MixMyGranola giveaway. I mean, come on now, me mixing my own granola? Could there have been a better prize with my name on it?
I was awarded a $20 gift certificate to MixMyGranola.com and given the go ahead to go hog wild. The $20 was just enough to snag me two lovely canisters of Graduate Meghann designed granola that was promptly delivered next business day.
I decided to sample my two mixes in my cereal combo this morning.
First up was my Chocolate is For Lovers Granola creation.
I referred to this as my ‘naughty’ creation, there was just so many sweet choices I knew I had to have myself a ‘dessert granola’ of sorts.
In the Chocolate is For Lovers Mix I had:
- French Vanilla Granola
- Dried Apricots
- Peanut Butter Bites
- Chocolate Mini Morsels
- Mini Yogurt Pretzels
- Cranberries
- Organic Peanuts
- and Lots of Love (yes, that’s on the ingredients list 🙂 )
This granola was definitely sweet, but oddly not too overpowering of chocolate. They really do a great job of breaking up all the ‘naughty’ pieces so it becomes a well balanced granola.
Next was my Meg’s Tropical Jammin Mix.
This one I went more traditional and left out all the chocolate and instead filled the granola with lots of wonderful dried fruit.
In Meg’s Tropical Jammin Mix I selected:
- Low-Fat Granola
- Dried Strawberries
- Dried Mangos
- Dried Blueberries
- Hazelnuts
- Organic Coco Shreds
- and Lots of Love (I really love how they add that to the ingredient list)
This mix was overflowing with dried fruit and I really, really enjoyed it. It was almost like I didn’t need to add the fresh fruit to my normal morning bowl because of the great level of dried fruit the granola addition added. 🙂
With my 1/4 cup servings of each MixMyGranola I had 3/4 cup of Kashi H2H, Vanilla Oikos Yogurt, Strawberries and Kiwi in my bowl this morning.
Baker Spotlight…
Many of you have been asking if Gina’s famous Macaroons will be up for bids again during the April 6th Blogging Bake Sale and I am proud to announce that YES Gina has graciously offered up another batch of her heavenly Macaroons.
Last Bake Sale Gina’s Macaroons stole the show. When her first batch up for grabs held the highest bid at $100 she offered to donate another brining the second batch to a high of $80! These Macaroons are blog famous and I know are going to bring in quite a bidding war, so if you want the macaroons remember to bid high and bid often! 🙂

Nice review. Gina’s macaroons sound like they’re to die for . . .
When you won the Barney Butter last week, I believe my comment was, “That FRICKIN Meghann wins EVERYTHING!” I was not even aware of your granola victory.
Do you have an lottery numbers for me?
I did the same thing when I ordered from them – one naughty mix and one nice mix. But they left the pretzels out of my naughty one! BOO. Such a fun site though, right?!
I agree with Sarah – you have the BEST luck!!!
Glad the 30 day Shred is paying off – I was pretty surprised at the results too (especially abs) bc it isn’t like I am busting out tons of crunches! All of those planks are killer!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
yeah for winning and look at those good eats!!
I can’t wait for this bake sale!
Sarah – I am with you on Meghann’s winning streak!
Your mixes look delish – quite expensive though – 2 tins for $20? But I guess if you use them in 1/4 cup increments, it lasts a while.
Happy Friday!

That granola looks awesome! And how fun to pick you own mix-ins.
So I just realized I’m having my book club over on April 6…I think I’m just going to tell them that I’m bidding on something online so I have to check it while they’re here! Since I’m on the west coast, I’m sure it’ll still be going on by 9…and I missed out last time due to poor planning, and I won’t let it happen again! 🙂
