Ahhh… More Lunges!!

by Meghann on March 20, 2009

LIES! ALL LIES!!!

I don’t know who said there were not lunges in Level 2 of 30 Day Shred, but they were delusional. There are lunges and they are tough! Level 2 definitely kicked my booty today, but it was a welcomed changed to Level 1. 🙂

After my 20 minutes of torture with Jillian, I had 10 minutes of bliss with the lovely, serene Polly. I did her Yoga for Runners and my hamstrings enjoyed the nice deep stretching. In fact my hamstrings still feel calm and relaxed as I type this more then an hour of her session. Thanks Polly!

Breakfast was a freezer find.

I made Strawberry Waffles a couple of weeks ago and had placed the left overs in the freezer. This morning I pulled them out and put them in a toaster for a home made eggo of sorts.

I topped the waffles with a Plum, Strawberries and Sugar Free Syrup. I let them go a little long in the toaster so the waffles were nice and crispy, just the way I like them.

Happy First Day of Spring Everyone!! I hope its warm and sunny where ever you are! We have a high of 80 today and I can’t wait to take my bike out for a spin after work.

Did anyone else find it ironically amusing that it was snowing this morning in NYC as the Today Show was kicking off their celebration for the  first day of Spring?!?!  Got to love the irony of mother nature. 🙂

What time do you get up in the morning to workout?

2 Meghann March 20, 2009 at 7:43 am

When I run I wake up at 5:30 but this morning when I wa sjust doing the DVDs my alarm was set for 6:00 🙂

3 biz319 March 20, 2009 at 7:37 am

Jealous of your weather! Although I am glad there are no more dirty snow piles by me!

We may get to 45 today?

Can’t wait to try the shred – I got it for my bday yesterday!

4 brandi March 20, 2009 at 7:50 am

yay for the first day of spring! I am happy we’re not getting snow here!

5 kilax March 20, 2009 at 7:53 am

The “standing lunges” in Level 1 totally kick my butt. I am not sure if I will ever make it to Level 2!

Ugh, our first day of spring has coincided with a drop in temperatures. It’s currently below freezing again, and I’m crying. (No, but I feel like it.)

Great job sticking with the Shred, even with the dreaded lunges. I can’t say that the idea of hard lunges is making me want to race out and buy a copy for myself…

its not ironically amusing when you live in jersey and its snowing on the first day of spring, trust me. at least its not gonna snow that long and itll be almost 50 later.

I woke up this morning to snow and was shocked. Hopefully now that it’s really spring it will stop ! gotta love the north east.

I am seriously drooling over those waffles. I don’t have a waffle maker and I have been dying to eat some for breakfast! Delicious! And definitely a little ironic about the snow in NYC, when does it end? lol…

10 fitforfree March 20, 2009 at 8:32 am

The snow up here is KILLING me!!! I’m ready to move to Florida!

11 dailydulcie March 20, 2009 at 8:34 am

What a delicious breakfast!!

haha yes that was pretty ironic!!

<3

12 raspberryrunner March 20, 2009 at 8:46 am

i did Polly’s yoga for runners a couple days ago, too! i felt great to get some good stretches, which I don’t do nearly enough!

awesome looking waffles 🙂

13 snackface March 20, 2009 at 8:52 am

Ooo pretty breakfast! Haha I know, that sucks that it’s snowing some places on the first day of spring. I’m in Cinci, and I don’t know how warm it is, but at least it looks nice out! Enjoy your FRIDAY!

I was wondering where you heard that about the lunges…they never go away. You should try her No More Trbouble Zones, her new DVD and this one is 60 minutes…she has something called a surrender in there…killer

15 Trish (girlatgym) March 20, 2009 at 9:32 am

Your breakfast looks wonderful. And I am so tempted to give one of Jillians workouts a try. Sounds like a good workout.

16 Run Saraaah March 20, 2009 at 9:40 am

I love Polly’s Yoga for Runners too, I need to remember to do it more often! The jumping lunges in Level 3 are the worst! I was sore for days.

17 Emily March 20, 2009 at 9:44 am

Ironic, or mother nature is just mean! I played hookey from work today because of the weather (and I’m a bit sick!) and the first thing I saw was snow!

I wasn’t lying about Polly…she soothes my soul.

I did see that on the Today show…right before they said it was going to be a torrential downpour here all weekend. Boooo….

19 Michelle March 20, 2009 at 10:09 am

Yeah it’s definitely snowing in parts of NY today! Not where I live, thankfully, but it’s still 40 degrees colder than the 80 that you’re having! Lucky you! Enjoy your bike ride!! 🙂

20 Sarah W. March 20, 2009 at 10:50 am

waffles are GREAT leftover

22 verbalriot March 20, 2009 at 11:01 am

I knew there were lunges but I didn’t want to break it to ya 😉

it snowed here this morning? It looks springy now

23 Shannon (The Daily Balance) March 20, 2009 at 11:39 am

Those waffles look simply delicious!

I just found your blog and think it’s great!

I also recently launched on of my own, please check it out 😉

24 RuntoFinish March 20, 2009 at 11:41 am

WOHOO let’s hear it for spring! I can’t wait for the farmers market to come back!

25 Bec March 20, 2009 at 12:46 pm

Yes, I biked to campus for the first time since November! So glad to not have to take the bus all the time 🙂

26 VeggieGirl March 20, 2009 at 1:16 pm

HOORAY FOR POLLY’S YOGA SESSIONS!! And for waffles 😀

27 Quinn March 20, 2009 at 1:18 pm

No, there is absolutely no amusement, ironic or otherwise, when it’s snowing on the first day of spring. None. Whatsoever. Especially when it was close to 60 on Wednesday.

(NYC-dweller here, hating the weather. Spring, oh spring, where are thou?)

28 Marissa March 20, 2009 at 3:35 pm

Yay for extra crispy waffles!

29 Erin March 20, 2009 at 3:57 pm

That breakfast looks delicious. This Jillian broad – I don’t know if I’m up for her antics! Especially given that your legs are probably super strong from running and it was still hard for you!

30 Missy (Missy Maintains) March 20, 2009 at 4:29 pm

Yeah I looked outside this morning and was extremely confused about the snow!! So I got all excited this morning when you mentioned no lunged in level 2! I start on Monday and now I am scared again!

31 Natalie March 22, 2009 at 12:55 pm

lol ironic indeed.. imagine my surprise when I woke up and looked out my window to see little flakes falling… it did not make for a fun commute!
