Wow, it was a crazy day at work today!
Sorry I didn’t have time for a lunch post! My Supervisor and I actually had a wonderful lunch with our Webmaster today at the cutest little hole in the wall simply called The Mediterranean Deli. It’s just around the corner from our office and though I’ve driven by it a million times, I’ve never been in.

(Dad you have to meet me here for lunch next time you’re in O-town!)
Everything looked and smelled great inside. The restaurant is no bigger then my cubicle at work and they prepare your meal as soon as you order it. I was so overwhelmed with the wonderful handwritten menu and delish pictures on the walls I had a hard time deciding which route I wanted to go.
Finally I decided on the Three Salad Plate which included: Greek Salad, Tabbouleh, Hummus, & Pita Wedges. I also grabbed a sample of one of the wraps he was preparing.

This meal was incredibly light and refreshing! I enjoyed it immensely and will happily return to this little gem. I can see why many of my co-workers frequently return from lunch with boxes of take out from the Mediterranean Deli.
When I returned to my desk for some reason chocolate was the only thing on my mind. Luckily, my supervisor has a stash of candy at her desk and I managed to swipe a Tootsie Roll to satisfy my chocolate cravings.

And before lunch I had a Kashi Peanut Butter Granola Bar as my mid morning snack.

For dinner tonight I was craving some sort of meat, which is really odd for me. I guess my body just felt like it was lacking it lately so I dug into my freezer and found a Turkey Italian Sausage to work with.
I cooked the Turkey Sausage on the stove top with some sliced Onion and Saur Kraut. Yum!

I stuffed the Sausage, Onion, Kraut mix in an Oat Bran Pita with Ketchup and Spinach. It was PERFECT!
I also was dreaming of the Yucca I had in the pantry all day at work

If you’re not familiar with Yucca, its a root, starchy vegetable that is prevalent in Latin American Dishes. It’s usually boiled in a lot of butter or fried up. I was craving the boiled version, but I can never bring myself to boil any vegetable so I steamed the Yucca for 15 minutes and then gently rubbed some butter on it. OMG I always forget how much i truly love Yucca.

I also had a small Pickle on the side.
It was a perfect dinner!
And I told you, you would be seeing my dessert from last night again.

Mmmmm... Chocolate Covered Donut…. Heaven!
I must say it has been a good day of eat. i will go to bed with a very satisfied belly.

And now I want a donut…and that salad plate…
Not trying to be a snot-nose, but I think you meant you love “yuca”. Yucca, related to the agave plant (from which we get tequila), is not nearly as frequently eaten as yuca, aka cassava, which is a starchy veggie used in a lot of Latin American dishes. This mix-up is really common, but if you google both words you’ll be surprised at how different the two are! If only the word gods had blessed these two botanically unrelated things with names that were more different !
oooh that salad plate does look delicious!!
it’ so crazy how you can, out of nowhere, crave something so atypical for you. good thing you had what you needed on hand!
That is my dream lunch. Too bad O-town is so far away.

That hummus looks delicious. I love Mediterranean cafés. They are always so dinky but filled with good eats.
Funny story: My mom sat on a yucca when she was little. She said it was a painful experience.

those doughnuts look so tasty! I need to try the recipe. I actually had never eaten a donut before I went to college! I don’t love them, but I think homemade would probably be great.
