When the weather gets cold outside all I want is a nice HOT meal to keep me warm. Tonight I was all about a hot sandwich and a nice big bowl of soup. The meal warmed me to the core, which is good because tonight’s lows are in the low 30s.. brrr…

The soup was this great can of Amy’s Low Sodium Chunky Tomato Bisque.

I picked this can up on sale at Whole Foods this Saturday (2 for $4.00.. woo hoo!) and really wanted to give it a try. The soup was nice and chunky but just a tad sweet for my taste.

The soup was perfect for dipping the great sandwich I made to go along side it.
The George Foreman did a great job of grilling my fancy Grilled Cheese.

I can never just have a plain grilled cheese so of course I had to kick it up a notch. Between the two slices of Whole Wheat bread I had Reduced Fat Cabot Pepper Jack Cheese, Sweet Potato and Spinach. It was great!

This dinner was the perfect cold weather meal. It was wonderfully flavorful and took the chill out of the air.
With a great dinner I also had a great dessert. I had 1/3 of this fabulous Dark Chocolate Bar.

You can never really go wrong with chocolate.

TIme to unwind in front of the tv, I’m a big nerd who DVRs Lifetime movies and I’m watching a cute one now called “7 Things to Do Before I’m 30″ Who doesn’t love a good soppy Lifetime movie?
Good night everyone! Be sure to bundle up, its cold outside!

This looks like my kind of meal – especially for how cold it is outside!
It is currently -12 where I am. What I would do for low 30s! I would go for a long run
dinner looks good. I always use the George Foreman for my sandwiches, it works great!
Lifetime movies AND warm cozy food = great night in. I have some personal Lifetime faves – 15 & Pregnant and A Secret Between Friends (aka: Lexi Anorexi). I can’t believe it’s that cold in FL!!!
I’m a sucker for those Lifetime movies too. They have been previewing one that stars Sigourney Weaver that looks good.

Great sammie – not sure about the addition of sweet potato though!
I have a can of that soup in my cabinet right now! I haven’t felt very inspired to eat it yet, but I know it’ll (obviously) be great with grilled cheese… hmm… I’ve already had dinner but that sounds good right NOW! ha.
Hope you enjoyed your movie!
That is a fantastic-looking grilled cheese sandwich. Yum yum yum! I hope you’re coping with the cold!
I love that soup from Amy’s!! If you’re looking for a way to lessen the sweetness, I have tried adding spinach and sun dried tomatoes in the past and it tasted awesome.
I need to make grilled cheese again! It’s been ages!
I had tomato soup and grilled cheese for dinner too
Grilled cheese + tomoato soup = awesome! The Foreman is great for making grilled cheese fast
I really like that soup too, but agree, it is a little sweet. I just added some veggie broth to mellow it out.
Ultimate comfort food combo, tomato soup and grilled cheese! Nice job!
That is one of my favorite soups!
I am so adding sweet potato to a sandwich!
Comforting meal!!
It’s funny how your definition of cold is our “warm days” lately. Yesterday was like 10 degrees in Boston. Crazy!
Your fancy grilled cheese looks delicious and that chocolate looks like the perfect way to end a meal. Yum!
That sandwich looks SO good! I still haven’t tried sweet potato on a sandwich yet, but I need to do it soon.
Tomato soup + grilled cheese = always great
That chocolate bar looks good! I’ll have to look for that kind.
I’m totally with you on the soup front…the second I heard a cold front was coming through last night I knew that pea soup was on the menu.
chunky tomato bisque is by far the BEST flavor of amy’s soups.. good choice! they have a low sodium version which tastes just as great.. you don’t even notice the difference.
low 30s? LOL I wish for that right about now.. its 10 degrees outside. 10!!!! Everyone is walking around looking like marshmellow people because we have on so much clothing
I really need to try that sandwich combo – your picture makes me HAVE to HAVE it.
