Good bye 2008…Hello 2009

by Meghann on December 31, 2008

2008 has been a great year. I have been through soo much, both good and bad. I wouldn’t change any of it for a second. I’ve learned more about myself in the past 12 months then I knew in any of the 23 years before it. Most importantly I have learned to live life one day at a time and never take any of it for granted. 🙂

In 2008…..

I made a resolution to get my butt into shape and discovered my love for running and healthy eating…

I celebrated turning 23 in the Georgia Mountains with my wonderful family…

I visited Ireland with my Second Family who welcomed me with open arms…

I witnessed my little sister turn 21 and celebrated with her at Disney…

I celebrated Abbie turning 1…

I vacationed on the beach…

I hiked in the Great Smoky Mountains…

I had my heart broken…

I left my first real job and started a new adventure in a new city…

I moved into my first apartment all by myself…

I reconnected with old friends…

I made some new friends…

I started this blog…

I wore a bikini on Halloween

I voted for the next president and watched history in the making

I reunited with College friends

I ran a Half Marathon in 2:08:16 with my parents waiting for me at the finish line…

Most importantly I discovered myself this past year and learned to live life for me.

With all the wonderful things I have experience in 2008, I am even more excited to see what 2009 will bring me. I have so many goals I would like to achieve now in both my personal and business life.

With all of that being said here are the goals I have narrowed down for myself in 2009:

  • Go on Dates – Hell I would even be happy with talking to just talking with a guy. I had my heart broken this past year, but I believe its time to move on. I’m enjoying being single, but a free meal every once in a while would not hurt either. 😉
  • Run a Full Marathon – This is a long term goal I am hoping to accomplish in the Fall.
  • Compete in a Triathlon – I am registered to run one in March!
  • Save Money – I think this is a given for any list of goals.
  • Take on more responsibility at my Job
  • Spend less time on the computer
  • Maintain weight loss
  • Eat less refined sugars
  • Continue to discover myself and push my limits

They’re simple general goals that I hope will guide me through the next year.

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope you have a safe and healthy start to 2009! I will be bringing in the New Year with some friends downtown, the next time I will be blogging it will officially be 2009!!!!

love the mini recap of the year!!!! YOU ROCK! Love your goals, go on lots of dates, thats what being single is all about, and I am with you on the refine sugar 🙂 Hey I love the pants your wearing in the bike picture what are they?

26 Amandamoo January 1, 2009 at 2:10 pm

What a great post! Sorry about your camera!! (Caitlin posted already) I hope you had a great new year’s eve. I love your goals for this next year (I’m running my first half marathon in April!!)

I was wondering if you had a training program for the 1/2 you ran last year or if you just increased your distance on your own weekly… Also, do you run or do you take a rest day? I have to be at work at 8 and I can’t imagine getting up before the sun comes up to train. I’m running 3-4 miles 3 times a week right now.

Sorry so long. I love the blog and use you as an example of healthy, balanced living! Thank you for your contribution to the blog community this past year!

27 Meghann January 1, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Amanda – I did not follow a training program I just gradually added on distance each week. I try not to run every day of the week. I give myself a couple of rest days to recover. 🙂
