Almost Back to Normal

by Meghann on December 28, 2008

I’m back home in Orlando!

I’m a little sad the Christmas weekend has come to an end, but luckily this coming week is going to be just as exciting as the week before. Its going to be another very short week of work (yay!) and now we all have New Years Celebrating to look forward to!

In preparation of the skimpy, sparkley dress I plan to wear for New Years, Caitlin and I set out on a 5 mile run this morning.

As is tradition, when ever we feel we may have over done it the night before, we set out on a nice long run to clear our senses. However, this morning we did not set out our run until close to noon as the sun was hot and bright above us. Talk about a sweaty run! We came back drenched and drained. We definitely struggled for those 5 miles, but in the end were glad we completed them.

I think I’m starting to figure out how to work my stats in my Garmin. I just love all the information it gives me at the end of the run:

TIme: 48:52

Distance: 4.79 miles

Calories burned: 463

Avg Pace: 10:12

Avg Heart Rate: 119

Max Pace: 7:19

Max Heart Rate: 177

When we returned I munched on this big, juicy Granny Smith Apple.

When I finally made it back to my apartment for lunch, I realized I had zero fresh fruit and vegetables. I found this microwaveable package of Punjab Eggplant that I had bought a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it a try.

CIMG5052.JPG

I heated the package up and had a Flat Out wrap on the side for dipping.

It was a very yummy microwaveable meal, but very spicy. I drank two full glasses of unsweet iced tea with the meal.

After a little shopping and cleaning, I had a snack of cereal and grapes.

CIMG5058.JPG

I had 1 cup of Kashi Mighty Kid cereal with a handful of the refreshing grapes. I missed cereal and am very much looking forward to a great breakfast of it for tomorrow morning.

Dinner was a representative of the Ham, Pear & Squash Pasta dish I made a while ago.

CIMG5061.JPG

Only instead of acorn squash I used canned pumpkin. I also omitted the frozen veggie mix in favor of fresh broccoli & mushrooms.

CIMG5065.JPG

It was a very delicious filling meal that I have been craving the past couple of days. It felt so great to be able to cook for myself a simple healthy meal again full of fresh veggies. Yum.

It felt great today to not be tempted by sweets every time I opened the fridge. I am definitely not going to miss that from my parent’s house. Instead of the multiple sweets I’ve been indulging in the past couple of days, I had my usual one treat today for dessert.

CIMG5074.JPG

I had my healthy version of Blackberry Cobbler. I heated up some frozen blackberries until they were gooey then topped it with some Annie Bunny Grahams and Fat Free Cool Whip. It was perfect.

Ugh… I can’t believe I have to work tomorrow. At least I only have another day and a half work week before all the fun begins again. Is anyone else returning to work this week? Or are you spreading the holiday out for another week?

I hope everyone has a fabulous rest of the night and I will see you bright and early tomorrow morning!

Wino For The Night

by Meghann on December 28, 2008

Well the good news is I was able to sleep in to almost 9:00am this morning, the bad news it it took a lot of wine for me to be able to accomplish this. :)

Last night Caitlin, Michelle and I headed out to The Wine Room to celebrate Caitlin’s last weekend of ‘freedom‘ before all the wedding craziness begins.

CIMG5041.JPG

I had been dying to go to The WIne Room since I moved to Orlando back in August, but have never had the chance. I was very excited last night to be introduced to the bar. It really is a wine lover’s dream.

CIMG5002.JPG

When you first arrive you load up a card with a certain amount of money and then pay by ounce of wine.

CIMG5005.JPG

The wines can range anywhere from $1 for the nice cheap wines I was indulging in to $15 per ounce for wines I would never dream of trying.

CIMG5008.JPG

I enjoyed a plethora of wines throughout the evening.

I stuck with the Reds through out the night and enjoyed the majority of them.

CIMG5012.JPG

Caitlin ordered a flight of Cheddar Cheeses to nibble on while we drank. The red wine went wonderfully with the sharpness of the cheddar.

CIMG5022.JPG

I ate a good 1/4 of the plate featured above.

We had a great GIrls NIght Out. We drank, we ate, we talked with guys… it was wonderful.

I was very surprised this morning when I did manage to wake up that my head was not screaming at me. I think in total I had a little over 12 oz of wine last night which is roughly 3 or 4 glasses of regular portioned wine. When you look at it that way it doesn’t seen like I went overboard.

Caitlin and I decided to make breakfast right away, to give us plenty of fuel for our planned run.

Caitlin made some yummy Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

CIMG5043.JPG

and I had one of the great Tangerines I stole from my parent’s.

CIMG5045.JPG

With some Real Maple Syrup on the side for dipping, it was the perfect meal for soaking up the alcohol.

Now hopefully Caitlin and I are going to get our run on. We bought some cute running skirts yesterday we’re dying to try out and of course I’m always looking for a chance to play with my new Garmin. :)
