CityFish

by Meghann on November 20, 2008

I had another great night with my friend Caitlin. I can not express how thankful I am to have a friend like her in my life! I love our weeknight girl dates. Its just so nice to get away and have a drink with a girl and just get everything off of my chest. Love you Caitlin!

For dinner we decided to meet downtown and hit a restaurant both of us had never tried called “Cityfish” Its a very cute seafood restaurant right in the middle of down town.

As soon as we sat we each ordered a glass of wine.

I got the Cabernet, this glass x2.

Before we even had a chance to order our food we decided first things first and dug into present from the wonderful Melissa!

Unfortunately our package had a bit of an accident and the Pumpkin Butter exploded in its travels (*sniff, *sniff) We were so sad when we realized what had exploded. I wanted to lick everything clean to still get the Pumpkin Butter flavor off of everything, I managed to resist that urge. Luckily we had a very cute server witness our struggle with the package and come to the rescue. He cleaned everything in the box for us, while shamelessly flirting. (Maybe I should mention I ended up giving him my number at the end of the night ;) )

Luckily all was not loss with the package; Caitlin and I managed to split the rest.

Melissa had made a trip to Trader Joes and found us some amazing Granola: Pumpkin Spice & Praline Pecan!! I can’t wait to try these in my breakfast tomorrow.

She also sent a box of Candy Cane cookie and some Tomato Chutney (Not pictured).

THANK YOU MELISSA!!!!!! I was able to read your note and I appreciate everything you had to say!! Maybe you can fly over with the Pumpkin Butter in toe? ;) Can’t wait for you to become a Central Florida resident!

For dinner Caitlin and I decided to split and appetizer and special to make a meal. The cute waiter totally sold us on both of our choices and we did not regret a single choice.

We started with the Grilled Shrimp & Bacon Jalapeno Poppers.

CIMG3700

I had a full skewer of these and half of the fried onion pieces peaking up from underneath. These were great and just a tad bit spicy. I really enjoyed this take on the normally fried jalapeno poppers.

For our entree we split toe Seafood Trio Special.

CIMG3706

They brought the split dish out on two separate plates, which was great. The trio consisted of a scallop and two different typed of bass. It was absolutely amazing and I enjoyed every bite.

Then for dessert we decided to break into the Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Cookies.

I had three of the cookies in all. Caitlin put it perfectly when she said they reminded her of Girl Scout Thin Mints. They were very yummy :)

The night was of course amazing. Caitlin and I stayed in our booth well after the meal was over talking and gabbing away. It was a great Thursday night that made me really excited for the upcoming weekend! Now we just have to wait and see if the cute waiter gives me a call!

This afternoon I did to decide to try the Blueberry Chobani for my snack.

CIMG3696

With the Chobani I had a 1/4 cup of Quaker Oatmeal Squares.

So far Blueberry is my least favorite. It was ok, but not something I would get over excite about. SO far Peach is my absolute fave. I’m going to experiment with the Vanilla flavor and put it in the freezer over the night to see how it comes out, I will let you know if it works. :)

Its late and I have to sleep. Good night everyone!!

Ramblings, then Food

by Meghann on November 20, 2008

I am the worst when it comes to texting! I just checked my phone and saw a text I meant to send a couple of hours ago was still waiting for me to press send. I’m sure my friend right now is wondering what I was sending “Great!” for, especially since I can barely remember. Honestly this is not the first time this has happened. There have been plenty of times when I have picked up my phone and saw a text I was sending earlier was still in edit mode. Oooppss…. I need to be better at making sure messages go through, rather then just dropping the phone and assuming my task has been completed. J

Besides my texting failure, this morning had been pretty busy at work. Actually this whole week has been relatively busy and will continue to do so until Thanksgiving. Hopefully, it will calm down in time for me to relax for the rest of the Holidays. (Fingers Crossed) I know once these trainings are over a HUGE task will be lifted from my overflowing to do list. Yay!

My midmorning snack today consisted of a pack of Almonds and Reduced Fat String Cheese.

I love the combination of Almonds and Cheese. I actually pull pieces of the string cheese and wrap it around the little almonds. Yum.

Lunch today was semi-inspired by Caitlin’s dinner post last night. I was intrigued by her Alfalfa Sprouts in her Grilled Cheese so I decided to have the combination myself today.

To make the sandwich I used my very last piece (the butt) of my Dave’s Killer Bread, which I got all the way back at the beginning of October for winning my first BSI competition.  Umm.. yeah… I’m only one person and it really takes me that long to eat a whole loaf of bread! The bread was also amazing and I wanted to savor every bite. I am actually pretty sad that it’s all gone! If I had the extra $$ to spend on bread I would so be ordering some more from the website, but sadly I am poor so I guess its back to plain ole bread for me. So sad…

With my lovely sandwich I had a small salad of Spinach, Tomato, Cucumber, Carrot, Artichoke Hearts, Alfalfa Sprouts and Mango Poppyseed Dressing.

To round the meal out I also grabbed a perfectly ripe Tangerine.

After two days of eating lunch at my desk, it was nice to be able to have something fresh at home once again. I am very spoiled by being able to go home for lunch. It’s the highlight of my work day. J

Alright, I’m off to host another meeting! See you later.

Pajama Gear

November 20, 2008

I hit a new low today in my winter work out attire. As I was getting dressed this morning I could not bare the thought of removing my very comfy pajama bottoms, so I decided to just wear them for my run and work out. That’s right I did my morning warm up run and more »
