Not Enough Fuel

by Meghann on November 14, 2008

I woke up STARVING this morning, I attribute it to my light dinner and heavy wine consumption last night. I should know better then to think wine will keep my satisfied through the night.

I had my typical half of a Z-Bar before my run this morning, but halfway through the bar had worn off and I could have easily of ate my fist at that point. It definitely made the last couple of miles of my run a bit of a challenge. I need to remember that if I wake up on the verge of consuming the entire kitchen, then I need more then just a half of a Z-Bar to get me through my runs. I will definitely know better for next time.

Morning Stats:

Distance – 5.77 Miles

Time – 1:01:33

I was on the verge of death due to hung when I returned so I immediately dove into some Quaker Oatmeal Squares which went into my mouth before they had their time to shine in front of my camera. A handful of those got me through my shower so I could make a proper breakfast.

I made myself a Bagel Egg Sandwich. The center is just a 1/3 cup of microwaved egg whites and then strawberry jam for the spread.. mmmm… Jam and egg is always the perfect combination.

On the side I had a not so ripe orange. The orange I had yesterday was much sweeter. I guess since they’re not quite in season yet it’s pretty hit and miss on these at the moment. My parents have a grapefruit tree in their back yard, I can not wait until those are ripe for the picking!

A couple of you were asking what I do for a living after my post yesterday. I am a Marketing Assistant for a Substitute Management Software Company based here in Orlando. It does not sound very interesting and it is always hard to tell people what I do, but I really enjoy it. I work for a small company that has a great tight knit atmosphere which really attracted me to the position. When I moved to Orlando I had 2 job offers and I chose this one simply because of the flexibility the position held and the great benefits a small company can easily provide to their employees.

I have my 90 day review today at 9:30. I am a little nervous and for the life of me have no idea what I am going to say. I tried to think on my run this morning what my goals are for the position and what other responsibilities I would like to take on and my mind just went blank. I guess I am just going to have to wing it. Wish me luck!

Hi name twin! I found your blog through Kath’s, and just have to say I loved reading your story. I am also in the process of losing weight and it has been quite the experience. I don’t have a blog but it has really helped my journey to read the blogs out there and see how other people have made healthy changes in their lives.

Good luck on your review! I just started my first full-time job in August too and had my first review last week. I was really nervous but it was a piece of cake! You’ll do great!

May I ask how you got the spelling of your name? Mine is from the book and movie The Thorn Birds. Have a great day and I’ll definitely be putting your blog in my daily rotation 🙂

Ahh I felt that way on my run on Tuesday. I didn’t have a nighttime snack and just woke up and went. Half way through all I could think about was eating when I got back!!

Good luck on your review – I’m sure you’ll do great 🙂

Hi Name Twin!!!! My name is from The Thorn Birds too!! Actually everyone I meet with the spelling has a similar name source. If you’re a facebook member join the Meghann group and its really fun to see that everyone’s name comes from the same place!

Haha I totally can relate to the “eating the whole kitchen” kind of hunger! Those are the hardest days to make a hearty breakfast because it takes longer than the 2 seconds I want to wait to eat, but it’s always worth it. Jam & eggs?? Interesting…. maybe I’ll try that.

Good luck in your review!!
