It Feels Like College Again

by Meghann on November 14, 2008

I just got back from dinner with two of my best friends from my Florida State Days.

Even though the last time we were all together was December of 2006, it felt like no time had passed at all. We caught up on each others lives and reminisced about old times. This is just the tip of the iceburg to the start of a great Homecoming weekend. I have plans to meet up with a few more old friends tonight and can not wait to reunite!

We met up at a wonderful Tallahassee treasure called Po’ Boys. I practically lived here during college and the food is just as great as I remembered. The only difference is now a days I manage to avoid the traditional Fried Pickles and massive side order of Cajun Fries. Instead I opted for a nice bowl of Seafood Gumbo.

The Gumbo came with some AMAZING Jalapeno Cornbread. I ate all of the corn bread and half of the gumbo.

One friend was kind enough to give me her plain Pickle.

I think she felt bad for me not eating the fried versions, but really I was just as happy eating the regular one. I am a huge pickle fan.

During my never ending car ride up to Tally I snacked on this Mojo Peanut Butter  Pretzel Bar.

I had the bar about half way up here and it held be over all the way until our late dinner.

Now I am off to get all gussied up and hit a night out on the town. Even though I am sure it will be a late night I am still looking forward to an early wake up call to get a nice run around campus in tomorrow morning. Have a great night!

Too Much Excitement for 1 Day!

by Meghann on November 14, 2008

My review was a success! My supervisor had nothing but great things to say and even requested a pay raise for me. Yay!!

After my fantastic 90 day review I had a lovely package waiting for me at my desk!

CIMG3453

Chobanis!! I was unable to pull them out with out causing a huge spectacle, but you can imagine there are a lot of yummy Chobanis waiting in there for me to enjoy. The famous Tiffany finally heard my Chobani pleas and was gracious enough to send a whole box of samples my way. Thank you Tiffany!

My Supervisor and I decided to dive right in for a midmorning snack. The two of us split the Peach Flavor.

I had some Quaker Oatmeal Squares that I topped the yogurt with.

Now I have to be honest here that I am not the biggest yogurt fan. If you are an avid reader of my blog you will note that the only time yogurt has ever appeared on here has been in the form of a topping or in a smoothie. However, I had never tried any Greek Yogurt before and the blog world always had me intrigued. I was very excited when Tiffany contacted me so I could at least sample what everyone has been raving about. Now I must give my honest opinion about it…

It was AMAZING!!!

I always thought I did not like yogurt, apparently I just did not like other yogurts because I happily licked my bowl clean with this one. Yum! It was very thick and creamy and you could taste the chunks of REAL Peaches in there. I am very excited to try the other flavors in the box waiting for me. Thank you Tiffany for opening my eyes to Chobani! Oh and my Supervisor, who was also a Chobani virgin, was floored as well. She was wondering if she started a blog if she could have samples of the yummy Chobani as well?!?!?! lol

As you can tell I have been having a great morning, so to top it all of I was able to have lunch with my parents today as well! They are still in town celebrating their anniversary so they met me after work and took me to this adorable little italian restaurant called Juliana’s.

I ordered the Balsalmic Chicken Salad that came with walnuts, dried cranberries, goat cheese and some other good things I can no quite remember.

I asked for the dressing on the side and never even used it! The Balsalmic Glaze on the chicken was enough for the whole salad. I gave half of one of the chicken breast to my dad and cleaned my plate of the rest. It was a great salad and I need to go back to this place in the future.

I also had a bite of my Dad’s meatballs.

My Dad was goin g on and on about great his dish was and I have to agree it really was. Sometimes little whole in the wall places like these really always have the best food.

For dessert my Dad and I could not resist splitting a slice of Coconut Cake.

The piece was actually the perfect size for the two of us. It was delish!

Thankfully, I have the rest of the day off of work so I can get on the road. I have a lovely 4 hour drive ahead of me, but will luckily be sharing the driving time with my Sister’s boyfriend. So I can spend half of the time at the wheel and the other half passed out in the passenger’s seat. J I’m hoping to make it to Tallahassee before dinner and then plan to party the night away with some old friends. Good times.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Not Enough Fuel

November 14, 2008

I woke up STARVING this morning, I attribute it to my light dinner and heavy wine consumption last night. I should know better then to think wine will keep my satisfied through the night. I had my typical half of a Z-Bar before my run this morning, but halfway through the bar had worn off more »
