I Voted!

I voted today for the first time at my actual polling site. No absentee ballot for me this year, I was there live and in person to witness all the action. Ok well there was not really any action, I just went in my little box and did my thing, but I still felt like a real live grown up! I remember going to with my mom to vote when I was little and standing beside her as she made her decisions. It feels so strange to be in the little booth all by myself, making my own decisions.

My little brother voted for the first time today. He was so proud of his sticker. :) This is the first presidential election all 6 members of my immediate family have voted in. :)

Now it is just a wait and see game to see who the winner will be. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to stay away to see the declaration as soon as it happens, but its nice to know I will wake up in the morning to a new Presidential Elect. At least I hope they will have the decision finalized by then, I am not sure our country can handle another 2000 fiasco. Those damn Floridians screwing everything up.

On the flip side of voting I had a fabulous rest of my day. I was able to leave work around 3:00 and made it to my parent’s neck of the woods in record time. On my way over there I snacked on a Kashi Peanut Butter Granola Bar in the car.

I ended up going to vote after 5:00 and there was amazingly no wait. I was in and out in under 5 minutes and saw two people I knew at the polling place. My parents live in a very small town.

Since I was going to be at my parents for dinner I told my Dad to make something yummy. My Mom is currently out of town, and my brother had already ate so it was just the two of us.

My Dad made me his famous Pork Roast (which he rubs with his own blend of seasonings and roasts in the over for 3 hours), steamed asparagus and small baked potatoes (which I topped with a tablespoon of gravy drippings). This meal was perfect and just what I was craving. My Dad is seriously a fabulous cook and I miss his food.

On my way back to Orlando I stopped at my favorite yogurt place for a tart frozen yogurt.

I got a small Strawberry Tart Yogurt with granola, strawberries and blueberries. I was trying to go for the patriotic theme I missed at breakfast.

Now I am currently at Caitlin’s blogging away on her laptop as we watch the Presidential results unfold. This is sooo exciting! I can’t stay to the finish, but I am hoping to at least see a candidate pull out ahead and take the lead.

Good Night Everyone!

Amish Voters?

by Meghann on November 4, 2008

Cnn.com has been up on my computer all morning. I love how they are constantly updating and putting new stories up to read. My favorite was the photo they had on the homepage of an Amish person voting. Yes, their votes count too. J (at least I think they do?)

I did a mail out this morning to several schools all over the country and I got a lot of out of office replies from districts saying they were closed due to the Election Day Holiday. Soooo, not fair. I do not remember getting school off for Election Day when I was younger, did any of you?

While keeping up to date with all of the election new this morning I snacked on a Honey Crisp Apple mid morning.

I know these are pricey, but I figure one yummy apple a week is not going to hurt the bank. I purchased this apple and a $2.99 bag of red galas on Sunday. It’s all about balance if you ask me. J

Lunch today was thrown together this morning while I was simultaneously putting clothes in the dryer, straightening my hair, feeding the dog, and eating my own breakfast. Making lunches in the morning can be hectic.

I am eating at my desk today so I can leave early today. Not as fun or entertaining as going home for lunch, but its worth it to be able to vote.

I started with some vegetable dumplings that I had in my freezer and threw in the microwave at work.

And then a small salad with everything in my fridge on it. I am so bad at controlling my toppings on salad, I just want everything possible on it.

Salad consisted of:

  • Spinach
  • Mushrooms
  • Pineapple
  • Carrot
  • Zucchini
  • Feta
  • Tomato

I had some Mango Poppyseed Dressing on the side that I sipped my fork into for the salad and also dipped the dumplings in as well.

And lastly, I felt my lunch needed another element so I added two random graham crackers to my lunch bag.

I was very glad I threw those in. It was the dessert of my lunch. J

Poor Abbie will just have to wait until 3:00 to be let out to potty. I actually have to drive all the way to my parents to vote since I am technically still registered at their address. I don’t mind it though. I have an appointment for Abbie with the vet and my Daddy is making a yummy dinner for me. It should be fun. J

VOTE!

November 4, 2008

Happy Election Day!!   I was so excited on my way into work this morning. I drove by two separate polling places and both were bursting at the seams. There were cars parked in the median of a major four lane highway and people dodging traffic just so they could vote. I never felt more more »
