FLORIDA STATE

FLORIDA STATE

FLORIDA STATE

WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Seminoles kicked some serious Hokie booty today! The scare was back and forth for the most of the game but we ended up getting a field goal in the last could of minutes, that sealed our lead and guaranteed the win.

Final School – Florida State – 20          Virginia Tech – 10

It really was a great game to get to come up and watch. The weather was perfect in the high 70s and there was plenty of action happening on the field to get me up on my feet, cheering along.I like to think I burned plenty of calories jumping up and down in the stands. :) I will call it my ‘Enthusiastic Fan Cardio’ ;)

Before we made our way to the game we also had a great time tail gating. One of my Sister’s friends had a great set up in a booster lot right next to the stadium, so we were able to tag along and join in on their fun.

Dad, Sister, Me, Mom

The family we tail gated with were so nice and had quite a set up! There was plenty of food and drinks to go around.

CIMG2655

As soon as we got to the tail gating spot I broke into my first beer.

CIMG2650

I am a very picky beer drinker. I am not a fan of Bud Light or Natty Light, which tends to be the college beers of choice, so I brought along some yummy wheat beer that was meant just for me. I only packed 3 of my beer to make sure I wouldn’t be able to talk myself into anymore of them.

The food lay out did include some not so great things, such as fried chicken wings and hot dogs, but I manage to avoid the worst of the worst and loaded my lunch plate with plenty of fruit and veggies.

CIMG2660

I had a part of a Turkey & Ham Sub, Veggies, Fruit, and Blue Corn chips with pineapple salsa.

They had typical tail gating games sets up for everyone to enjoy. I played Corn Hole for the first time and didn’t make one bean bag in! It was still fun though!

CIMG2672

After, my not so bad lunch my sweet tooth hit, and I am the worst at declining yummy desserts. I started off with a piece of Monkey Bread.. Yum!!

CIMG2663

And then went for a Publix Peanut Butter Cookie! Anyone who Has Publixs near them know how hard these babies are to resist. :)

CIMG2676

I ended up having a second and final beer. I ended up not drinking all three which is a beer success in my head!

CIMG2675

I brought my Lentil Cookies, to share with the crew.

CIMG2681

Everyone enjoyed them!!! Here are my Sister and her boyfriend showing their enthusiasm for the cookies! :) Of course I had to have one too.

CIMG2680

This was my final lentil cookie. We finished the bag off today and I want to once again thank Shannon for sending my wonderful prize!

Before we left for the game I had to get a picture with my Sister.

CIMG2658

My Sister is a Senior at FSU and is in the process of applying for grad school for Anthropology! My twin brother went to UF so when it was time for Kelly to graduate high school and pick a college she could have gone to either state school and have a sibling to look after her, but she chose to come up and be with me and I think it just brought us closer! I know I’ve said it before, but I really miss her being so close, but it is worth the 4 hour drive to come and visit. :)

The game was great as I said above and we stayed the entire time to watch the outcome.

CIMG2699

At half time I debated eating one of the healthy snacks I brought in the stadium, but my Dad was taunting me with Dip n’ Dots Ice Cream so I caved and split a regular cup with my Sis.

CIMG2702

We got the Cookies n’ Cream which was Halloween Themed in orange and black colors.

When the game let out at 7:00 I was starving and knew dinner was still a couple of hours away, so I dug into tail gating leftovers and had a small piece of the Turkey & Ham Sub to hold me over.

CIMG2711

We walked the mile back to my Sister’s apartment and mocked all of the people stuck in traffic. It definitely pays to have a place close to campus. :)

Dinner had been cooking along while we were at the game so there was some pulled pork waiting to be eaten once everyone made it back to the apartment.

CIMG2714

I had a Pulled Pork Sandwich with homemade Mustard BBQ Sauce, Blue Corn Chips with Pineapple Salsa and some left over fruit. They had coleslaw and baked beans to have with the pork, but I politely declined.

Now I am pooped and ready to crawl into bed early. My legs are nice and sore from all the walking and standing, but are still hoping for a good run tomorrow. I am going to try to get my sister out with me tomorrow, even if it means doing a shorter distance.

Good night everyone! And just one last time.. GO NOLES!

Dad's Not So Healthy Breakfast

by Meghann on October 25, 2008

I went to bed last night super excited to be able to run around my old campus. That, mixed with a deflating air mattress, meant I had I had not problem waking up when my alarm clack went off at 7:30 this morning. In fact, I kept waking up before my clock hoping it was already time to get up.

My run this morning was just as a wonderful as I was hoping it would be. My sister lives within running distance of campus so I was able to start my run right outside her door, with no need to drive anywhere special. I ran all the way to the far end of campus, where I used to have my art classes in the fine arts building, then all the way back around the stadium where all of my communication classes were my final year. I saw some new buildings that were still under construction when I left and I saw some holes where old buildings were being tore down. It’s amazing how much campus had changed in the four years I was at school and in the two years since I left.

Since I was weaving in and around campus it’s impossible to map out my exact distance, but I do know my run was 58 minutes long so I am going to guesstimate I did about 6 miles this morning.

After my run everyone slowly started getting up so my Dad made breakfast for the entire apartment. We have a full house here, it’s parent’s weekend so all of my Sister’s roommates also have family in town. I think there are a total of 11 of us staying here. Its definitely a tight fit, but makes for good breakfast company.

My Dad made one of his famous breakfasts this morning. I haven’t had it in a while so I felt like splurging. Growing up my Dad used to make these killer breakfasts every weekend, luckily I don’t live at home anymore so I only have it as a treat every once in a while.

CIMG2643

My Dad makes the BEST homemade sausage gravy. He pan frys sausage pattys, removes the sausage pattys and adds crumbled sausage, he then adds flour and milk to soak up the grease until a nice gravy consistency forms. So bad, yet soooo good.

CIMG2647

I used to eat two full biscuits swimming in the gravy, but now a days I limit it to one biscuit with just a little gravy. I also had some scrambled eggs, a sausage patty and of course a big helping of fruit.

CIMG2644

I dug in to the fruit bowl set aside for tailgating today. Luckily no one minded the dent I made in the bowl. :)

I got a great run in and am now well fed. I am ready for some football!!! FSU is taking on the Virginia Tech Hokies today and let me tell you the Hokies are going down! It should be a great game!!

Have a great Saturday!!!
