While researching new running routes in the Orlando area, I came across the Orlando Runners Club. The ORC is a great local running club, that has monthly meetings, weekly runs and promotes healthy, active living while enjoying the camaraderie and friendship with those who participate in this great sport of running. They meet up Sunday mornings for a long run so during the week I e-mailed the leader, found out the stats, and was up at the crack of dawn this morning to meet the group for an easy run.
The group of runners I met and ran with this morning are amazing. One girl is training for the NYC Marathon in three weeks and plays Sarah Connor at the Terminator 2 ride at Unviersal Studios! Another guy has run countless marathons and will be running the Michigan Underwater Marathon (I didn’t catch the proper name but that’s what he was referring to it as) next week. He also was considering running a marathon in Hawaii in November! Then Jack (who is 75!) is hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon in the near future.
I was in awe of all these accomplished runners and couldn’t believe I was keeping up with them. Of course they were all aiming for a nice easy pace of between nine and ten minute miles, which was perfect for me. I kept up and felt great the whole run. I was enjoying the conversation so much that I didn’t even realize we had gone 10 miles at the end! I’m not sure what my finish time was because I didn’t have my IPOD, but I think it was around 2 hours.
I look forward to meeting up with the running group in the upcoming weeks leading to my half. I really enjoyed the company and it made the long run seem like nothing.
Before my run this morning, I tried the Mojo Mountain Mix Bar.
I have tried the Chocolate Dipped Pretzel bar before and really enjoyed. This bar was good too, but too much salty and not enough sweet. I think I prefer the chocolate dipped pretzel flavor instead.
When I got back from my run, I was of course starving. I was craving just about everything, so I put together a plate of everything.
I tried my first Honey Crisp Apple. (which was amazingly crisp and refreshing but a little $$ to purchase on a regular basis)
Microwaved egg whites with mushrooms and Jalepeno Cheese. ( Sorry the steam off the egg made the picture weird)
And last but not least I had a Orange Cranberry Scone I picked up at Whole Foods yesterday. ( Again with the seamed picture
)
I LOVE scones!! I only eat them everyone once in a while as a treat and I felt I deserved on. This was butterly delicious and I enjoyed every bite.
The sun is actually out today so I am going to throw my swim suit on and go catch some rays. Gotta love the Florida fall.
