I think my favorite work outs always occur on Saturday mornings. This morning was no exception. The sun was shining, the weather was perfect and I just felt soo motivated (maybe it’s the fact I got up at 7:00 opposed to my usual 5:30 wake up call)!
I started with the goal of doing some speedwork on the track. I am in no way a fast runner or a sprinter so ‘speedwork’ is never on my fun list. I am much more of fan of seeing how far I can run, not how fast I can. I have been dying to see how fast I can run a mile now after all my training the past couple of months. I’m pretty sure I haven’t timed myself at a single mile since high school and back then it always fell in the 9 minute range. I figured I could at least blast it out at atleast a 7min mile if I did full speed.
I was wrong.
Maybe I should have warmed up and then ran the mile? Either way I went full force right off the bat and timed myself at 8 min 19.7 secs. This is a time I would have been more then happy with back in high school, but I was hoping for something a little faster. Oh well, at least when I was done with my mile I felt I could have still gone farther and that makes me feel good. ๐
After my failed attempt at a fast mile I did another 6 laps around the track where I sprinted the straights and walked the turns. I got pretty bored of going in a circle and was contemplating how to change it up. There was a bunch of people with ‘ARMY’ across their shirt doing laps a well and it really made me want to do one of my bootcamp work outs. So I moved to the empty basketball court and started bootcamping it out.

After all that I jogged a couple of laps around the basket ball court to cool down. It ended up being a GREAT work out. I definitely needed that!
I am meeting my parents for an early lunch so my original plans for breakfast were pushed back. Instead I had a nice bowl of cereal. ๐
I pureed a peach and added that to 3 chopped strawberries, 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean Crunch and 1/2 cup Kashi H2H.
This was a great cool down breakfast after I worked up such a sweat. Now I have to take a much needed shower and meet my parents for lunch. Have a great Saturday!
Don’t feel discouraged – still sounds like a FABULOUS morning run to me!! ๐
