A Blogging Dinner Extraveganza

by Meghann on September 20, 2008

Tonight’s blogging get together was yet another amazing event. It’s just always so nice to get together with a group of girls who share the same interest as you. We literally closed the restaurant down tonight, I didn’t get home until well after midnight,  and we probably could have stayed there for a couple of more hours just talking away.

When the first of us arrived at the restaurant we went straight to the pulse, i.e. the bar! Jenna, with all of her new found expertise, help me decided on my first selection.

I selected a red sangiovese, Santa Christina. Jenna informed me this wine is very similar to a Chianti and I knew I loved Chianti wines so I decided to give it a try.  The wine was full bodied and very dry, just the way I like it. Thank you Jenna!

When Gina and her friend A.j arrived we made our way to the table. We all decided to split a couple of appetizers and bottles of wine. At this point it was well after nine so when I heard the word food, my ears perked up and I automatically nodded my head yes.

We ordered the garlic chicken flatbread – which I  had a nice slice of.

And then the plump tomato flat bread.

Of course I had to have a slice of…..

and then another….I promise there were really tiny pieces

Thank god for the flatbread. I’m a light weight with drinking, so this one glass of wine was really making a bit tipsy…

As you can see I was not the only one the wine was affecting. 🙂

Before my meal came my wine glass was magically refilled. 🙂 I love it when magic happens.

For my entree I went back and forth, back and forth on what to order. It was one of those incidences when I didn’t know what I really wanted until the waitress zoomed in on me and the pressure hit to decide. After a flash second debate in my head, I chose the Rainbow Trout.

The trout was served with new chive potatoes and roasted veggies. This meal was very satisfying. I ate the whole plate.  I swear the wine made me do it 🙂

Now on to the best part of the evening.. DESSERT!!

There were so many awesome choices, and I think between the nine of us we all got a little sample. Amidst the glasses of wine and happy chatting some how I managed to select two desserts:)

My first one was the Raspberry Cannoli

Let me start of by saying cannolis are my fave dessert in the whole wide world. This combination was amazing. The filling main part of the dish was the cannoli filling and then the crispy pastry was the outer layer. A fun and creative way to eat one of my favorite desserts.

Next up was the Peanut butter Chocolate Mousse…

Let’s just say this was the most popular dessert. I believe everyone had one as one. I mean, you can’t go wrong with peanut  butter and chocolate!

Like I said above, we were at Season 52 until Midnight just chatting and having a good time. We all have so many things in common and it makes me think if you put any blogger in a room with other bloggers, you are just not going to get them to shut up.

We had to take a group shot before we left.

Let me see if I can get this right… from left to right: Erin, Jenna, Caitlin, Me, Gina, A.J., Gina’s Aunt and Gina’s Cousin.

We’re awesome aren’t we?

And now just the bloggers…..

Me!, Caitlin (SeeBrideRun), Erin(PumpkinandSpice), Jenna (EatLiveRun), Gina (The Fitnessista)

Before we left Gina gave us these amazing goodie bags!

It has banana bread, vegan chocolate macaroon, and Blondie macaroon. Unfortunately i can’t eat the bannan bread but I can’t wait to try the macaroons.

Wow! What a post! I know theres still so much more I could have said but I’m exhausted. It was a great night but now its time for bed! I hope everyone else had a great Friday night as well. See you tomorrow!
